Love, life, just how unhealthy some of our products are. Ask away!
Whenever I go into a coffee place I just want pure normal black coffee. I refuse to tip since there is absolutely no prep that goes into this, and I’m generally in a foul mood because I just paid like $2 for a simple cup of coffee. Am I expected to tip for such a simple order?
I don’t use the Starbucks words for small, medium, or large. I don’t make a big deal out of it, but I’m just never going to learn the fastfood lingo for this. I just say “can I have a medium coffee please?” Do you care? If so, why?
Not everyone tips. No one should get upset of you if you don’t tip. It would be nice if everyone tipped but we don’t think less of you if you don;t
No not at all. You can say small medium and large if you want. In fact the people who joke about our sizes are the ones that annoy us. “Tall is teh small!” I hear serveral times a day and it does start to get to you. Whenever a customer tells me they dont know the sizes I just tell them they can use small medium or large, and when the order I tell them what size they got with our lingo if they want to remember it
I get the oatmeal quite often in the morning (I know, I know, $2.50 for oatmeal! outrageous!) Just wanted to know how you guys prepare it?
It’s fairly consistent but on ocassion it had just way too much water added. Did someone screw up behind the counter?
People tip? Wow!
Why does the cashier yell out the orders even though the cup is marked?
What is supposed to be in an Espresso Frappucino?
My drink of choice is a grande espresso frap, with whipped cream. Sometimes it is coffeelicious, but sometimes it comes back super sweet, like slightly melted haagen dazs.
And sometimes they ask if I want two shots in that? I don’t know, I want it the way they made it when it was not sweet, and had a very strong coffee flavor.
What I really want is super strong coffee, blended with ice, and just a touch of cream, then whipped cream on top.
What is it that I want? (i.e. How do I order that properly?)
Oh, and what’s the deal with Pike’s Place . . . Does anybody actually like this dreck?
Yeah just to much water, things happen. There is this line on it that we are supposed to fill it up but if to much water gets put in it will be watery. Because the container isnt clear it is harder then you think to fill it up to the line because you cant see thru it all the while trying to do it quickly.
Every cup is supposed to be written we call out the orders just to speed things up so the person doesn’t have to look at the cup. But the person on the bar cant remember 20 drinks so thats why they are written down anyways. Or if someone else walks back from abreak or something they wouldnt have heard the cup being called but can still see what it is supposed to be.
In your case I would get a grande espresso frap with two shots. It shoudlnt come out sweet if it does they probably didnt put the espresso in. The grande size should only have 1 shot in it for the espresso frap if its too sweet try it with two. I would also give the Starbucks Double shot a try, the drink we make not the can we sell, same name. Its sweet and cremey and has a lot of espresso but is not bleneded
I don’t like it, some people hate it some thinks it’s ok. Do not think it was the best choice Starbucks ever made but it is supposed to be brewed non stop everyday. My favorite coffees are Latin American ones and the new Product(RED) coffee we have.
Is Starbucks consciously phasing out the “seasonal” beverages? It seems like they haven’t had anything new (at least, not coffee-related) for the past year or so. I used to look forward to trying the wacky new flavors, but now it’s back to the standard menu-- and in fact it seems like they have way fewer flavored syrups available, too!
At least the holiday drinks are right around the corner…
I like to put cream in my coffee. Into a Tall cup I would add two of those little containers of Half and Half like you find at a diner. When I order a coffee at Starbucks they ask “do you want room for cream?” If I say yes, they leave an inch or so. If I say no, they fill it to the very brim. Which brings me to my question, in two parts:
- What are the magic words that mean “leave enough room for a reasonable person to add cream to this cup of coffee, kind sir or madam,” and
- Do people actually add 2 ounces of cream to 10 ounces of coffee?
I always say “light room” or “half room” and it works out ok.
as for 2), I’ve seen plenty of people who don’t think they have enough room and pour out the extra into the trash… Now I’d agree that it would be nice if there were a sink/drain handy, but surely dumping a (frequently hot) liquid into a plastic garbage bag isn’t the greatest idea!
We have not got any new flavored syrups for a while now and have actually lost 1, melon, and gone back to an older one, Rasberry instead of Juicy Rasberry. The last flavor they introduced was the god awful honey lattes. Which somehow managed not to have any real honey in it. After that Starbucks decided to “get back to the basics” You may remember all the stores nation wide were closed for a few hours. I think thats why new syrups have not been added
In your case say no room and pour a little out into the trash by the bar. Everyone does it thats why we put two garbage bags in it. Sometimes people bring it back to the counter so we can top it off with coffee. I personally don’t mind when people want it topped off
You rebel, you.
Like I said, I don’t make a big deal out of it. I’m just not going to learn their little fastfood lingo. That fact clearly bothers some people (including you, apparantly). Why is that? What is it about not learning Starbucks lingo that bothers people like you, more than if I didn’t learn Taco Bell, or Burger King marketing terms?
Were any Starbucks stores closed in your area? How did it affect you guys, and do you think the company handled the shrinking business well? Are you afraid for the future now you that you have to compete with cheaper brands like McDonalds?
Are you in management? What’s your favorite drink? What type of customer do you dislike the most, if we rule out the just-plain-mean ones? Do you feel like you get paid less, more, or equal to your worth?
I think you’re making a bigger deal out of it than you realize. I read Rigamarole’s post as a joke, poking fun at you for doing just that.
Just for the record, there are 4 regular starbucks sizes. The lingo is actually KIND OF useful, but you’re right to assume that it’s really just for marketing purposes. If you order a “small”, they’ll just give you the size most people consider small, even though it’s the 2nd size. This causes a bit of confusion when people say “small” and actually want the six ounce size instead of the eight ounce one.
If you’re making a coffee for yourself, what do you make? Do you have your own special blend or something off the blackboard?
When are you going to start selling these ice cream cakes that I hear so much about?
We had 3 stores close in our area, one of which was just opened. I think that Starbucks never should have got to the point to where they needed to close stores. They expanded to much. Some stores got transfers fromthe ones that closed. I don’t see McDonalds as a threat. Most people who get their coffee from McDonalds don’t go there just for the coffee. They would probably have gone there anyways and get their breakfast now they jsut get a mocha to drink instead of OJ or something.
I am not in managment
My drink that I get is two shots over ice with two pumps of Vanilla.
Customers who joke about our sizes…Yes the tall is the small…I hear this so many times a day it gets old…We have customers who try to be difficult just because they can be. Who want their drink made a certain way even though They can’t tell the difference. Customers who point to what they want in the pastry case say “I want this” What is that? I cant see you over their, read the label to me please. If you want a water with your drink tell the person on register you will have a water as well. Don’t walk over to the person making your drinks and ask for a water. This makes me stop what I am doing and grab another cup and messes up my flow and slows everything down. Customers who ask “is this mine” I do not know if that is yours what did you order? What is your name?
I feel like I should get paid a little bit more. Everyone thinks Starbucks is a “Great job for students” I make what I could make most other places
I usually get an Iced Dopio with Vanilla flavor. Sometimes I get a special drink that is milk, a banana, lots of honey, with protien powder. Its very cremey and tastes great, that is not on the menu. Its sort of a modified Vivano.
