It's the Independence Day in December MMP

Good luck with the job hunting, Nava!

Good luck with the MIL, nettie. Don’t sweat her pickiness. She sounds like someone who would find fault with a house clean enough to perform surgery in.

I’m covering an area at irk today that I’ve never seen before let alone covered because of year end and folks out for the holidays. If y’all don’t hear from me by midnight, send a search party. :stuck_out_tongue:

**Nettie **- if MIL starts criticizing, hand her a dust cloth and a mop. Problem solved! When my grandmother came to visit my in my first house, she spent just about the entire time tidying. It’s just the way she was and there was no sense in saying anything but “Thanks.” She was a character, but never nasty about it - she just did what she did.

**Nava **- hope Santa give you a good gig to start the new year!

Metal Mouse - my spousal unit pointed out today that next Dec, he intends to mostly retire again. He’ll be available to his company on an “on demand” basis, so it won’t be a total retirement.

The thing on my head has been hacked off and sent off for biopsy. Here’s hoping I don’t hear back from them since no news is definitely good news. We had a nice lunch after, then scored some nice ribs at Aldi’s for cheap, so I bought more than I’d originally intended. The next couple of days will be smokin’ days - turkey tomorrow, ribs and brats on Sunday.

When we got home, I gave **FCD **a haircut, then mixed up one batch of cookies that needs to chill overnight. And I just finished baking chocolate chip cookies. Once they cool, I’ll package them for the trip. I only got a bit under 5 dozen because I made them bigger than usual. They look beeyooteeful!!

**FCD **is working at his new desk using my chair, so I’m on the laptop in the dining room. Some time after the holidays, he’ll get his chair and floor mat and whatever else he wants/needs.

Meanwhile, I think it’s a good time for me to chill.

over it!
I do not eat things that have “(ye)uch” as part of their name. Yeecchh. Swampy would eat [del]fart blossoms brussel sprouts daily before I tough that vile ‘food’.
Similarly, I think it was George Carlin who noted that garbanzo beans share the first five letters with garbage.

They’re a weird one for me. On their own, I loathe them, but if I whirl them up in the food processor with some garlic and tahini and maybe a bit of olive oil, they become delicious hummus.

I was going to chide you for disliking them, until I read that. I use sesame seed oil in addition to olive oil, add onion and cumin as well.

I went and watched hockey practice, then did laundry. Gordie got overstimulated by my return, and hornked on the rug. Stoopid dog. I made an early dinner of pesto and Parmesan spaghetti with spinach with sundried tomatoes and basil. Off to hockey in a bit.

Good luck, Nava!

{{{{Nettie}}}} And I second Moooommmm!'s suggestion.

{{{{sari}}}}

How can you eat pesto after such an event? You must have a stomach as strong as a dog!

Howdy Y’all! Irk was survived. Two days next week and then no more until January fourth. YAY!!! We had an early <snerk> Quickie! <snerk> for dindin. OYKW had a hot ham’n cheese on whole wheat, and I had a patty melt on, of course, rye bread. We both had had the shoe string fries cause they are soooooo good! Now we are here in da cave. 'Tis a chilly, windy 55 Amurrkin out but sunny. Anywho, life is good.

Nava appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the new gig.

{{{sari}}} it’ll all be over in a week.

{{{Nettie}}} set out some cleanin’ supplies and if MIL starts on ya, hand ‘em to her and tell her to have at it to her heart’s content. Then put on your robe and slippers and eat bonbons while watchin’ trashy teevee.

flytrap it could have been worse. doggio could have made sausage gravy and bizkits. Everybody knows that sausage gravy looks like the dawg threw up on a bizkit.

I grew up reading my mom’s nursing journals. Nothing really grosses me out.

I have so far successfully avoided sausage gravy, and I have never closely scrutinized canine regurgitation.

Moooom, it sounds like you’re smokin’ the good stuff.

Red, except for the brats, what I’m smoking will be Christmas dinner. My MIL had a knee replaced and she doesn’t need to spend all that time in the kitchen so we agreed to bring the meats, and I decided to make the cookies just because. My daughter and I can help make the sides when we get there.

And so ends my day. I’ve mostly wasted it since the cookies got done. Supper was cheese and crackers because I didn’t have any beef stew and didn’t feel like making it. even tho that’s what I wanted.

Tomorrow, besides smoking and baking the last batch of cookies, I’ll do laundry. Rah.

Envy my exciting life.

That was a good nap. Now it’s time for bed.

‘Tis been a chillaxin’ evenin’ here at da cave. Nice!

rosie thank goodness you woke up in time to go to sleep!

Thank Goodness this week is over. I am about at the end of my rope.

Tonight was the annual Holiday Lights Tour. I chartered 8 Conch Trains and sold 480 tickets at $5 a pop. All 480 ppl showed up early before the trains. Then they all swamp the first couple trains. Jeez folks there are six more on the way. Ditto each train. Finally the last two were not even filled. I wanted to scream. Dealing with 480 people and three service animals and strollers and wheelchairs and walkers is enough to drive one to drink. I am not drinking tonight though. Too tahred.

Hubs is cooking our filet mignons and other stuff.
TGIF

**Butters **- next time, sell tickets for specific trains - can you? It might help control the crazy.

Or you could hire a big-ass bouncer to keep people under control.

Mooommm. I may have to try that. There has to be a better way.

You could ask **swampy **to show up and shake his cane at everyone. That’ll keep 'em in line!

I’ll probably be nice about it but basically yeah – it is a kind of chuckle. It is nice though to be thought of if that is what they are doing/thinking. When I left the last place that I used as a sort of “time filler”, it was at the point that the friendship and job had both gone sour and I really doubted if I could fit in at any semi-sane-and-normal workplace. It’s good to know that I can still do it after being basically my own boss for so long. Don’t get me wrong - there are still days when its more irk than work. But I’m probably as happy now as I’ve been in 30some years and that’s hard to imagine sometimes.

On other news, am doing a full weekend of volunteer-Santa gigs for some small churches and our motorcycle club party is tomorrow night so I have a fun weekend. Quick cruise around the Dope and then getting ready for it.

Look at the time! I need to hit the rack. *** MWAH!!!***
