It's the Independence Day in December MMP

Neither are these so I’m playing it safe and breaking the links. (But I do love them both)

I have rather eclectic musical tastes.

Mmmmm…are you using a recipe from AllRecipes? I modify the eggplant lasagne from them when zucchini is in season and even my meat and taters Midwestern family cleans it up.

Our holiday dinner was good. In addition to appetizers of shrimp cocktail, fried mozzarella, and queso and chips for the table, I had lamb chops (with enough leftover for a small pot of lentils this weekend), creamed spinach and a salad.

Sticks – major hugs and good vibes your way. Hugs work for good and bad news and we love you, pure and simple.

And you may want to rethink the Mumper invitations ----- we ain’t that far away and you know how we like to travel.

On other news, worked my usual 4 which became 6 due to the holidays with me being manager of half the building for my shift. I think – just maybe – they are setting up to offer me a semi-management position. The good news is that it would double my pay. The bad news is that it would double my hours and require me to work a different schedule every three months and give up a weekend day. My sidelines make me about 5 times as much as my actual pay but need a fixed schedule and weekends; do I want to take the pay cut? And it would mean almost no amusement park time. I will consider but the chances are I’m going to say no and suggest someone younger with a family who really needs the pay and a career. But we shall see.

I do not eat things that have “(ye)uch” as part of their name. Yeecchh. Swampy would eat [del]fart blossoms brussel sprouts daily before I tough that vile ‘food’.
Tonight was our run club’s annual caroling run, where we run to ½ dozen bars/bar-restaurants & sing off-key versions of Xmas songs. Of course, since running & singing are both quite rough on the throat & needing of some courage, there was drinking before we started, at the second stop, & at the end once we finished. Mistaken for a quality choir, like the Vienna Boys Choir or the Mormon Tabernacle Choir we are not.

Yay! I was worried a groupie had tied him up Misery style.

Pay cut and give up your fun? And you didn’t automaticly laugh at the offer?

Morning, mumpers! I am at irk, it is not particularly irksome today as it’s very quiet. I could do with being elsewhere though, not got a lot to do and I’m a bit bored but I’m not telling anyone in case they find me something “interesting” to do…which usually means something that someone else doesn’t want to do!

(((((Stickybuns))))) - condolences, and conga-rats as well. If you were to plan your wedding around easter or late August, I could be passing by

Damn it (Janet)
Up, out, & already back home for no reason. A lovely lady invited me to join her at the gym for a class…but it’s filled up already. Now I’m up at ridiculously early hour for no reason & I still need to go out tonight. I’m not used to dark-thirty naps. :frowning:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 50 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 58 and windy for the day. The temp tonight could dip down to  30! Imagine actin’ like December in December! On the other hand the high for Christmas Day is predicted to be around 80. :dubious: Weather be weird!

ruble sounds like a no brainer decision to me.

OK, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must soon commence. I am travelin’ over to large and in charge Dawson, Jawja and then up to large and in charge Preston, Jawja to start my day so at least I get to leave from da cave.

Happy Firday Y’all!

ruble - turn it down, politely. You’ve apparently got your life just how you like it. Why mess with it if it works?
also blurf. And then there’s blurf. There may also be blurf but I’m not sure yet.

You realize I use the wrong word periodically to see if people are paying attention. No, really. It’s deliberate!!!

:smack:

High on the list of rude awakenings is a killer cramp in the calf. Quarter to four this morning, I was up and dancing around, sorta, trying to get my right calf to stop tormenting me. Fortunately, a walk to the bathroom and back seemed to do the trick, and I got a couple more hours of sleep, so yay!

I have an appointment with my dermatologist at 10:30 this morning - I want her to do a biopsy of this thing on my head, since last time she told me “Don’t worry about it - it’s nothing” then a few months later all of a sudden it was malignant. After that, **FCD **and I will have lunch and I’ll come home and bake cookies. We’ll probably stop along the way and get ribs to be smoked, too.

The not-to-be-missed chores before our trip include putting the mulcher/vac back in the shed and hauling the trash and recycling to the convenience center. And I need to remember to leave a check for the critter sitter. In fact, I should put it in an envelope and tape in up somewhere out of the reach of the Taz monster. He eats paper. Bad kitteh!!

Thus beginneth my day. Happy Firday!!

Up, caffeinated, off today. I shall go to the laundromat.

Mooommmm!, ouch. At least it wasn’t a leg cramp in a water bed. Then you end up cramped and seasick.

Spidey, FCM can wear a fuzzy road, as long as it covers her asphalt.

It wasn’t **Spidey **- it was Nettie! And you should be ashamed of yourself! :stuck_out_tongue: Asphalt indeed…

**FCD **is up and we’ve both showered and dressed more or less presentably. I’ve had the last of the quiche for breakfast. Butter and cream cheese are out coming to room temp - when we get home from erranding, I’ll mix up that last 2 batches of cookies and bake the chocolate chip batch. The other dough needs to chill overnight.

I’ll probably do some laundry today also. Or not. Haven’t decided. Indecision is the key to flexibility, you know!

I’ll have to check out that eggplant recipe - I decided to make the lasagna today instead of yesterday, and made cauliflower pizza yesterday instead. I gotta say, it was DELICIOUS!
My new eating regime limits pastas and breads (and pretty much everything else aside from veggies, fish, and chicken), so we’re trying to find delicious substitutes.

Blargh. I keep setting my alarm, and then going back to sleep after it goes off. And one time this past week, when I did that, I ended up having that annoying recurring dream again, where I’m at a campfire and I’ve forgotten to bring the marshmallows. Arrrrgh.

We just finished assembling FCD’s new desk - it looks just like my desk, minus the hutch on top! Now he just needs a chair, and a chair mat, and a surge suppressor, and a computer, and a monitor, and a keyboard, and a mouse, and a desk lamp…

Time to head out on our errands.

'tis the season to be jolly,
falalalalalalalala

I am expecting an offer to abandon the ranks of the self-employed. In fact, I’ve been interviewing like crazy for three separate jobs, with similar conditions but in different companies, sectors and locations. I’s egg(nog)scited and a bitsy skeeered!

Happy Firday!

It’s a cloudy 39 degrees outside, although it didn’t feel that cold when I put the dog out.

Another busy day, my living room looks like a train wreck right now - making me crazy.

Sah-son finished putting his desk together last night, so that is a big part of the mess gone. The desk looks nice but unfortunately I think it may not fit in his room. I told him to measure. I wish now I’d just gotten him a cheap small desk. Of course if he’d use a real bedroom instead of the living room he’d have enough room. The living room is the smallest room in the house, except for the bathrooms. However, it works having him downstairs to take care of the dog at night.

I feel overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done around here, I have to keep reminding myself - one day at a time. I’m upset over Christmas, I’m still trying to figure out schedules and really I shouldn’t worry about it until next week. All I’m doing is going to my mother’s, so I just need a time to be there.
I’m with FCM, I’ll be glad when all this holiday stuff is over with.

Nava, good luck on the job prospects; here I am excited about my upcoming retirement while others are thrilled about getting back to work…best wishes to you.

Got a crazy week for pre-Xmas. Monday I work for 4-5 hours, then fly to Dayton, Ohio, stay overnight then have a meeting on Tuesday and fly back to Ali-bama that evening, getting in about 10PM. Work a half day on Wednesday, then drive halfway to my brothers (stop at a hotel in KY). Thursday get to brothers where I get Firday and Sat-day to stay in one place, then drive 425 miles back on Sunday to be back at irk.

How many days to retirement is it again?

I’m not happy about my weekend. Closing shift today, should be opening tomorrow, got in-laws descending on me. Yes, right after finals, and I was given NO vote, simply informed of what WILL happen. The house is a disaster and MIL has a history of fault-finding and criticism when she invades. DH claims he’ll get at least some of the backed-up cleaning done, since he has today off. In practice, this means I’ll be lucky to get home and find that he’s taken out the garbage. I certainly won’t find any vacuumed carpets or mopped hard floors.

Merry [bleep] Christmas to me.

I’m throwing in the towel. I’ve been sitting here for almost eight hours and every muscle aches and every nerve tingles. The weather, which seems to be trying to make up it’s mind whether or not to rain, is not helping. I’m going to take a pain pill and get back into bed and hope that tomorrow is a better day.

Stoopit SSA. They should see me on a day like today and they’d know, dammit. I will start the appeal process on Monday.
