Good morning! It’s in the low 60s out and I opened all the windows last night when it dropped to 70, so the house is nice and cool. Yay! Looking at the 10-day forecast, we’re staying in the low-mid 80s - huzzah!!! This is my kind of summer!
It’s a off-day for crab monitoring. I intend to get some serious studio time, plus do a little laundry. I’m amazed I was able to sleep till 6. We need to train Higgs to sleep till 7…
Meanwhile, I need breakfast. Happy Tuesday!!

Y’all have nightmares, as do I on occasion. Well, last night, I had the polar opposite of a nightmare, The World’s Most Boring Dream. In it, I was giving a tour of an apartment complex I managed to someone, and explained to them that while other complexes were built with the closets stuck wherever they would fit, my place was specifically designed to have x square feet of closet/storage space as a direct function of y square feet of usable living space.
Yeah, that dream put me right back to sleep.

Not a very exciting day at irk, we had all the excitement yesterday with the thunderstorms and all that stuff. Today is a special occasion of a different sort, apparently it is the 1200th day of my relationship with my wii machine. Do you think I should have a little party, a happy dance, or maybe follow Nuts’ example and have a drink or six?
Closet space is nice, but does it have a dishwasher? What’s the laundry situation–are there units in the apartments, or a central laundry room, or what? Are heat and hot water included? Don’t get me wrong, closet space is important, but it’s like fifth on the list of things that really matter when apartment hunting.

happy birthday vwife did she get the aarp invite i was never so pissed as when I got the aarp invite on my 50th bd I don’t look a thing like the people on the envelope and I considered it an invasion of my privacy that they knew when I turned 50 that is why I won’t join them

My towels are on the line. **FCD **is going out on his bike for a while. I should go down to my studio, but I just want to laze about. My back is aching - I suspect it’s from moving 39 pavers from wagons to my car, then from the car to another wagon. That’s a lot of bending and lifting and carrying 2 days in a row. We’ll see what the extra strength tylenol does.
Getting old sucks.

They sent me a few when I was still 49. I pocketed a few foil packets from the rescue squad storeroom (they when into the intubation kits), and would immediately send the invite back to them with the packets enclosed and with a not-too-nice note telling them where to stick it, the KY was to make it easier.
They eventually quit sending me stuff.

Taking a break. I’ve thrown 7 spoon rests, reconstituted some clay, and tidied my studio. My back was achy from bending over the wheel. I’m thinking of doing some slab work a little later.

Irk is livin’ up to its namesake. Irkier by the minute it is today.
So, I sat down and had a meeting with my boss about how overwhelmed I’ve been lately. I cried, she cried, and we did what we could to solve it. The biggest part of the solution is that I need to slow the eff down and let stuff sit for a while, not everything needs to be done NOW, and I don’t have to be the one to do it. Then I had a short discussion with the third member of our department, and she cried too. I feel much better, though it’s still been a thoroughly disappointing summer all around.
One more wedding this weekend. Dammit.
