It's Time For A New MMP

It’s cold, gray, and windy here today but the rain seems to have finally stopped…I’ll take it! And, the forecast for the next week or two is properly autumnal (cool but clear). I love fall! :fallen_leaf:

I’m extra glad for the expected “mostly sunny” weekend, because it turns out I’ll be driving up to NJ on Sunday and back on Monday. The three cousins on my mom’s side – plus their spouses and kids – all live near each other, and one of them lost his mother-in-law suddenly on Friday: her viewing and funeral are on Monday afternoon. It’s not a personal loss for me, but everyone up there loved the woman who just died and I feel like I should show up for them. It’s a 5-hour drive each way, which is just far enough for me to want to spend the night. I’m still waiting for Bailey’s kennel to confirm that she can board Sun-Tue, but I’ve already made the B&B reservation for Sunday night and taken Monday off work (it’s a federal holiday, but not for my company). If the kennel says “no” I’ll have to stay home, but they’re rarely booked solid even on holiday weekends. :crossed_fingers:

In happy news, in about 30 minutes I’ll be heading to a combo clothing swap/support group meeting. It’s only the third in-person meeting (it’ll be the second one I’ve been able to attend), and it’s our first clothing swap. I’m taking a bunch of 3X t-shirts. I hope someone can use them.

In other happy news, I actually finally have a lead on a therapist! I’m getting to a point where I need to do some psychological and emotional work to make sure my bariatric surgery results can be maintained long-term. I finally found someone who is accepting new patients and seeing people in person, and isn’t too far away…and seems to specialize in eating/food-related issues! And, she responded to my inquiry within 24 hours! (So there’s gotta be something wrong with her, right?!? ) We have a 15-minute phone consult scheduled for Thursday morning, to see if we both agree about moving forward and can find some overlap in our calendars.

Yeah…what Wheelz said. :two_hearts:

Sorry about Raven, nightshadea!

I’m a fan! I’m a fan! :raising_hand_woman: I would love to go there sometime.

Are these smooth enough? It’s a little hard to tell from the photos…

I went a little nuts at one point and ordered a case of really cheap TP (imagine the thinnest stuff you’d find in a public restroom), and I still have more than half of it hanging out in my laundry room. Just in case.

Silly nellie! ALWAYS sloth!!

I’m sorry about your mom’s cancer wordy. Hugs to you both.

*{{{butters}}} I hope that your depression goes away soon.

JtC, I tend to sew on buttons with embroidery floss (I can always match it to the button) or dental floss. :stuck_out_tongue: One of my cow-orkers wears these gloves and likes them.

I batted cleanup for the pilot project this morning, flashed in the middle of the day and did a chore for my lead this afternoon.

When I came home, I got a sad. The passing of Loretta Lynn was all over the news. I met her a couple of times, saw her in concert on occasion, but really knew her mom and sister better from when we lived in Wabash, IN as a kid.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Still in the orifice. I normally try to get out 15 minutes early to (maybe) miss some traffic. Chya. As if! There’s a sportsball game going on, but I think it’s only affecting the southbound 5.

My old boss came by for a visit, and we and four cow-orkers went out for Mexican food. I had a picadillo taco salad. Apparently, the company paid for it, though I think there’s some friction between my old boss and El Jefe.

I’m thinking gatorade would work. Or even water.

MIL and BIL are out getting pizza. FCD and I have showered - blissful cleanliness.

As for our running away, we were talking about maybe going to the ocean for a few days. We did it a few years back, but we were there, the hotel was overrun with a youth church retreat. It was awful! I’ll verify the we’ll have a child-free getaway. Maybe for his birthday? We shall see…

Water isn’t that great for rehydration. He needs to replenish electrolytes. Gatorade isn’t bad. Adult Pedialyte is better.

I’m in lurve.

Any hope of pictures in the future?

Evening all. Soccer practice had exactly two kids (it’s Fall break so a lot of folks are taking the week off) so we kicked it around for about 45 minutes and I then came home to a Big Bowl O’Sallit, so the 500 calories burned off this afternoon will be sufficient. Still haven’t gotten my electric bill (usually shows up by now) so if nothing by the end of the week I’ll go pay it in person.

Nappage has already been done, so sloth then sleepage is the plan for the night.

Oopsie, nice of you to head up to support family. Take care driving. And good luck with the therapist.

nellie, sometimes I think I should do more walking around the neighborhood, you have the most interesting encounters. And go get that insurance!!

Nettie, not quite a year’s supply, but enough paper products for 6 months and Pepsi until the end of the year.

OK, some internettin’ before doing some serious slothfulness, so everyone take care.

Everything has been pulled out of the bathroom other than the sink. The toilet can go back in (and will, as soon as I get a replacement seal). The wall are down to the studs on 2 walls, and the wall in the next room over has also been pulled. We’ll need to replace the walls, the mouldings and the vanity. Ugh.

And I’ve booked an oceanfront room for our anniversary weekend in Dec. We can cancel as late as the day before, should something come up. Because stuff happens…

So we’ve got that to look forward to.

Howdy Y’all! It was a be-yoo-ti-ful Fall day here in southwest Jawja. Love havin’ the windows of da cave open! Much sloth ensued today. Leftovers were consumed for sup. I did some cabbage, onions, peppers, rotel tomatoes, and kielbasas in the slow cooker today for tomorrow’s sup. We like it better when all the flavors and such have had a chance to chill overnight and blend together. Tomorrow it will get heated up and I shall make some cornbread muffins, which are different from corn muffins. Corn muffins have sugar in ‘em. Cornbread muffins do not have sugar because cornbread should never contain sugar. That Jiffy stuff is not cornbread. This a hill I am willin’ to die on.

WetOne I clutched my pearls and fell onto my faintin’ couch. Out of TP! GASP! I feel faint even now. We maintain a goodly stock of it, because once, durin’ my misspent youth I ran completely out of TP a day before payday and was broke. I snuck a roll out of irk. I was a felon for TP!

MOOOOOOM hope FIL is feelin’ better soonest. Yay for bookin’ the room. It’s nice to have sump’n like that to look forward to after this ordeal.

Oopsie that is awful nice of you to go and support your family like that.

FlyBoy free lunch! Robert Heinlein would be impressed.

Sunny ICK! Hope it does not turn into too much of a problem.

< Nipping in >

So it might be said… you were struck with TP PTSD?

< Nipping out >

If I see him again, I’ll definitely get a photo. I wish I spoke cat. Whatever he was trying to tell me seemed awfully important.

I forgot to mention the guy carrying his baby around for a walk who also stopped me to chat. And the woman who sat next to me on the bus. I was looking out the window, when she nudged me and then introduced herself and started talking about her day. I guess a lot of people are bursting to talk to someone. And most dogs and some cats are always up for a sniff-and-greet.

And MetalMouse, what is this fall break business? A whole week off in October? My Louisiana sister says the school where she taught never had it, but her daughter teaches there now, and sure enough, it’s a thing.

Oopsie, I’m ao impressed with your intelligent and successful approach to weight loss. Safe travels!

sunny, that sounds like a giant ugh. I hope it’s all back to normal soon.

I heartily agree. My southern sister likes sweet cornbread, so I make it for her when she visits, but it violates my principles.

Thanks, I have noticed that women Doctors tend to be more understanding of women’s problems. A male doctor probably would have asked if I could still cook and wash up then figured I was just fine. Of course, I choose women doctors because they ARE more understanding of women’s issues. If I had a man doctor, I would have said it hurt so bad I couldn’t open hubs’ beer cans anymore. That would have gotten me noticed!!!

That is pretty awesome. Our water company would have just said Nope.

The Best Cat in the World also knew to remove the legs before eating (bug legs have burrs and stickers). He wouldn’t mess around either. If another cat brought a bug in the house, he would run right over and eat it. No playing with food where he was concerned.

Gives you a hug back just because.

Buy some Castile soap and read their directions. I dilute it with twice as much water as they recommend, but you and the Mrs. would need to come up with your own level of soapiness.

We went into 2020 with our own personal stockpile. Of course, we had planned the toilet paper consumption when we were both working and got a little nervous about how much we used at home, but we were fine.

At one point, I sent Mom some toilet paper and paper towels and I lied to the post office lady and said I was sending gold bars wrapped in sweaters so nobody would be tempted to steal good stuff.

And many people used to have faith in the supply chain. My BFF is an empty nester with a big ass 4 bedroom home. It is at least twice the size of ours. She ran out of toilet paper the first week because she used to plan dinner at work and then shop on her way home.

During the height of the shortages, BFF really needed some bleach. I gave her a bottle out of my stash and then we had a long discussion as to how much money she should pay me for it because I only paid a couple of bucks before the world ended and now that it wasn’t available, it was priceless and how much is priceless worth anyhow? We smoke a lot of pot, can you tell?

I’m thinking she should start carrying chocolate in her pocket so she could have a bite when needed.

Thank you for looking for gloves for me. They look much the same as every other pair I have found, they look nubby. Which makes a bunch of sense, cause of the materials used. I’m hoping to find something made of spandix. Or maybe I can learn to use the nubby fabric as handy dandy needle holders.

Again, thank you so much for trying to help. I’m sorry I’m so picky, but I use some really fragile threads and am just such a special fucking snowflake that I am probably making things much more complicated than they should be.

I never thought about using dental floss for buttons, that is a great idea! If I was sewing the button onto something were color match was important, I would totally forget my floss and go an buy a spool of the proper color thread. Like I said, I don’t sew.

Says bad words for you. That really sucks, I’m sorry.

After the great shortage of 2020, I think most folks would understand and maybe even be jealous that you had access to rolls. My BFF confessed that during that time, she filled her pockets with work terlit paper to bring home for the weekend.

Throws a dead fish in your general direction! Hehehe.

We don’t eat a bunch of cornbread out this way, but lately the masa has been tasting sweet. I love tamales but I do NOT like sweet tamales. I’ve looked at the bags of masa at the store and the ingredient list doesn’t include sweeteners, so I have to guess that the sugar is added by the cook because too many people like sweet.

So today Hubs sold his trike. He paid 32g for it in 2018 and had to change things so he could ride it without working shoulder joints.

When he tore his rotator cuffs he refused to have anything done because doctors are all quacks who are only out to take your money. Now he has no rotator cuffs left and his arm muscles are the only things holding his arm bones to his shoulder spurs. He had an uncle who had the same surgery he needs to have done and the uncle said it was the best thing since sliced bread. IMHO, he is choosing to give up the things he loves because he is a stubborn jackass who can’t admit he was wrong.

Smokes some weed.

So anyhow, he traded the trike for a check and a smaller bike. He is also selling off his guns for the same reason. I’m smoking a whole bunch of weed nowadays.

Also @nelliebly how old is your daughter’s gormless cat? Last night GG thought he wanted to sleep with us so jumped the baby gate. He then realized that he was in the same room with Crabby Cat and played The Floor is Lava until he figured out how to get back out. His big Lemor feets let him run on the tops of the headboard, mirrors and doors.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

: smack Hubs with wet e-trout :
(friend of mine had shoulder surgery, and is still riding a regular Harley at 72)

You laugh now, but when you get eaten during the Zombie Apocalypse because you don’t have a square to spare, you’ll rue the day. :stuck_out_tongue:

No 3AM wakeage today! I made it to 4:45, and even then only woke because FCD got up for the terlit. But I’m awake now, so that’s that.

We need to make an early run to Lowe’s for some ratcheting straps and a few more boxes. Last night, our pillow talk was about what gets loaded in what order… oh baby!! But I think we have a good plan. Thankfully, some of the furniture is being left, so we’ll have a place to sit tonight. But no intratwebz… :open_mouth: or TV :open_mouth: so we may be forced to converse!

We’ll deal with that later.

Happy Wednesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 51 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 83 and N.O.S. for the day. We shall procure provisions this mornin’ and I need to take care of some miscellaneous errands. Thus, I think OYKW shall be in charge of provision procurement whilst I do the errand stuff. We’re all organized like that. Sup will be what I mentioned last night which will be easy cause all that’s needed is to heat it up and make the cornbread muffins.

MOOOOOOM hope the day goes smoothly.

BrightTree HAR! That made me lol first thing this mornin’.

red I also has a sad about Loretta Lynn. I always heard she was real down to earth and sweet in person. I also believe after listenin’ to some of her songs that she was not someone you want to mess with.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and oh so much bother, I suppose I must purtify and don proper attire for bein’ out and about amongst the great unwashed. Life can be so hard!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

I wasn’t totally out of TP, but there were only 4 rolls. Two for the upstairs and 2 for the downstairs. No I did not stockpile during the pandemic. My sister did, had over 70 rolls for her and her husband. She is about an hour away so if I ran out I would get some from her.

Today I have my annual CT for lung cancer screening. It will be negative but I have to have it for my annual exam with the pulmonologist.

Back in my college days (Late Bronze Age) my roommate and I ran out of TP 48 hours before the end of the term. Had to bum a roll from the girls downstairs. Ever since then it has been psychologically necessary for me to keep at least 2 12-packs of TP in the garage, in addition to the 15 or so rolls in the Ready Rack (fully stocked) under the bathroom sink.

We rode out the Great Bum Fodder Shortage of 2020 without a hitch.

These days my stockpiling is of canned cat fud. The Lords and Ladies of the manor are semi-picky about their gooshy food, and local stores have been having stock problems for years now. Chewy and Amazon have standing orders from me these days. I’m not satisfied unless the cabinet above the dryer is FULL of Friskies and Fancy Feast Gravy Delites.

Sweet cornbread is An Abomination Unto Nuggan. See Fatwah #2782.6 for details.

It’s Hump Day people! Get to humpin’!

All the toilet paper talk made me do an inventory and I have…drum roll please…111 rolls in stock (not counting the two in current use). So barring a case of dysentery, I should be good until the end of 2023 or so…

Slept until 7am, pills and paper in their proper places, and swimmin-n-sauna are on the plan. No soccer today, so we’ll see what the evening brings (probably sloth).

Nellie, it’s apparently a Southern thing, related to times where the kids had to help with the planting and reaping on family farms. And being Ali-bama, it has become a ‘tradition’ that nobody wants to change (they also get a week off in the Spring).

FCM, even if it’s not that far, a weekend getaway sounds like a good thing; you’ll have earned it many times over.

Well, it wasn’t a lot…About $140 credit for $4,000 in repairs and several hundred over-normal billing, but since my usual bill is under $30, I’m getting free water for the rest of the year.

OK, need to do the morning internettin’ and then forage for sustenance. All y’all take care.
