It's too hot MMP

Didn’t see another, so here we go…

It’s too hot! It’s April! What the hell is it doing kissing mid-80s? I barely tolerate summer and love winter. This does NOT please me. Barely slept last night- hot and stuffy.

So there you go… talk about weather, your silly complaints, or whatever you’d like!

First!!!

I got nuthin. Oh yeah, mmmmm bacon!

Good morning - dang, if I’d known it didn’t get started till this late, I could have gotten the ball rolling. I didn’t drag my carcass out of bed till just before 7 - I guess the traveling and stuff caught up with me. So, I’m showered, first load is in the washer, and I’m having a PB sammich for breakfast.

And speaking of too hot, it’s supposed to hit mid-80s today. So much for working in the garden. And the a/c will definitely be coming on this afternoon. Fortunately, a cold front is due thru tonight, so that will moderate the rest of the week.

Plans for the day: laundry, dr appt at 1, maybe a quick run to the grocery store, and maybe I’ll start washing windows. Just another Monday in paradise…

**swampy **suggested that I start things off with tales of Flar-duh, but really, there’s hardly anything to tell. We helped FCD’s folks with some heavy chores that would have taken them weeks to finish, I helped my MIL pick out and plant 4 rose bushes and 2 crape myrtles, we took them for their first Japanese Steak House experience, and FCD, daughter and FIL attempted to play golf one afternoon, but my poor sweetie’s back limited them to 3 holes. I did a lot of knitting, and we were forced to watch their TV choices, which included a lot of inane “reality” shows.

We did drive down to Lutz, FL, to get some rocks for the aquarium. The guy runs a business out of his garage - he dives in the Gulf and gets miscellaneous hunks of rock that he ships all over the country. We picked out 4 big hunks that are now living in our tank - pics to follow eventually.

On our way back, we stopped in our old home town of Orange Park. Daughter hung with her bestest friend and we visited with a couple who we used to spend a lot of time with. That was a lot of fun. We also ate at our former favorite breakfast place, but it’s changed for the worse, and we went to Sonny’s, which was good, and we forgot to bring home some sauce - drat!

We also visited a really nice aquarium store in Jacksonville and bought 3 hunks of coral, hoping they’d make the trip home OK. Two are fine, one is iffy - it may already be dead, but we’re hoping maybe it’s just stressed and taking a while to recover. We shall see.

Honestly, if I never had to go to Florida again, I could die happy. But until my inlaws are able to sell their house for a reasonable price (not in this market) they’re pretty much stuck there, so we’ll be stuck visiting them from time to time. And when they die, it’s highly likely that we’ll be taking in FCD’s youngest bro, since he’s unable to live on his own (mental and emotional issues.) We always figured this was inevitable, and now, the reality of it is hitting us. There’s a center in the county that deals with the mentally handicapped - we’ll be talking to them to get ourselves ready.

However, it ain’t happening yet, and we’re thrilled to be home. Our bed is so comfy, our TV shows the right programs, I have my own computer and don’t have to mess with FCD’s laptop, and the kittehs have been uber-friendly. Taz has been downright needy! No more sand, no more non-stop Trayvon Martin news, no more endless tales of medical procedures and deaths. Life is good.

Happy Monday!!

Happy Monday, people! I am sitting in the office feeling quite cold today, which is not unusual for this place on a Monday but I would like it to be just a little bit warmer.

I had a poor night’s sleep too, the control box on the burglar alarm system kept beeping during the night and I have no idea why. 1.30am is not the time to be getting the instruction book out and attempting to find out what the box wants me to know. I put earplugs in instead and tried to get back to sleep but that wasn’t very sucessful either.

In other news, I am off out for dinner tomorrow evening with my co-irkers to celebrate a 65th birthday. And on Wednesday I am going to see Cirque du Soleil’s “Alegria” show in town so that’s another meal out. Cooking? What’s that?

I actually got a decent parking space this morning. May have something to do with the fact that I didn’t languish in bed this morning.

Soapy, it’s comfortable here on th Guylindt . . .

I know Rosie… I sent DH off to cool, cool Farmingdale…

Too hot? 15 miles from downtown L.A. it snowed over the weekend.

It’s not hot enough and I think I’m having a sugar down. Can I haz siestita?

It’s comfortable degrees here but it’s windier than the surface of…well, the surface of a very far away windy planet that specializes in windiness.

It’s going to touch 80 in the mountains today. In the mountains. This should not be.

I’ma go getta haircut today. Actually a lot of hair cut. My mane is entirely too long and hot and needs to be lopped off soonest.

Jupiter’s big red spot maybe??

Done with laundry for the day - I’ve got 3 loads outside drying, including the comforter hanging over the rail of the deck. I’ll do some more tomorrow - it’s all sorted and ready to go. Other than that, I can’t get motivated. My inner child is being a brat and I’m letting her have control.

It’s really windy here in Chicago-land. Last night we had storms, enough to keep me awake, then wake me up when I finally fell asleep. There is probably a tractor-trailer ban on the freeways. I’m sleepy today, so BLURF.

Never in the world did I think that a half hour with a rototiller yesterday would leave me so sore today. Hell, even my hair would hurt, if I had any…

I got to work and found ibuprofen in the first aid cabinet, so I took it, then toddled off to my 0815 meeting. Around 0830, I started itching, and it got so bad that except for a lack of oozing sores, I thought I had poison ivy. I guess it was a good thing too, 'cuz all my scratching kept me awake… :stuck_out_tongue: This morning, I learned I have a mild allergy to ibuprofen. I’ve taken some Benadryl, and I’m now waiting for it to kick in.

So much for getting my gahdin planted…

I can live with it. Most of the weekend was spent on my bike, wind whipping my hair (singular - I only have one - its 12 feet long and I wrap it around my head in a clever fashion), getting rained on a little. Good tune-up for amusement park season whick starts in about 10 days with the opening of Knoebels. WOOHOO!!!

The version my Dad always told me was:

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great Fall.
But in the winter no one wanted to come outside and pay to watch some idiot sitting on a wall
So his family ate him.

What can I say? Genetics will out.

Afternoon!

Is decidedly not too hot here today- got very close to a frost last night, and my poor plants I forgot and left outside aren’t looking too cheerful today. Reckon they’ll live, but not very happy.
Had physio session today, it’s a good job I’m not easily embarrassed- had the same lady as last time, but she asked if I minded someone else watching, seeing as it’s a training hospital. I said yep, so wound up with her and some middle aged student guy watching me posturing in my pirate knickers, while having all the interesting things my muscles were doing pointed out.
Was fine though, everything seems to be healing up all nice, and I’m even allowed to start hula hooping again if I’m careful, huzzah!

Didn’t make it to the bee thing over the weekend- I massively overslept anyway, but there’s another next month, and I should be able to do more by then anyway. I shall be prepared next time.

Howdy Y’all! I am at da cave. The intartoobz was bein’ all wonky at irk so I gave up and decided I’d irk from home the rest of the day. I has intartoobz here. Also, I have a webinar to sit through at two this afternoon. As opposed to two tomorrow mornin’ I guess. On the plus side it’s only an hour. I still hate that word.

It’s a mild and wunnerful 78 Amurrkin right now with a promised high of around 86which may very well happen. I always attempt to not turn the A/C on until May. However if temps start to reach 90 and above before then, I shall have to cave in and brave the power bill. Le Sigh.

Now I shall go have me some N.O.L. and get busy again until webinar (hate that word I tells ya!) time.

Laterz!

Man, I’m tired.

So Friday, my boyfriend and I got the pieces of furniture I had on hold from the thrift store. We managed to get them down the stairs and into my place, although a neighbor had to help with the bookcase because I couldn’t carry it unbalanced.

Saturday, my dad and I rented a truck. We got everything out of my storage unit and into my place with relatively few problems (we had a bit of a hitch getting everyone to the storage unit). I spent the night in my new place with my boyfriend.

Sunday, I went back to my parents’ place and loaded up my car. I’m going to end up unloading it late tonight, because I have to do some errands in their town, including turning in the key for my storage unit.

I too, have to sit through a webinar at 10:30 this morning. It’s scheduled to be 1.5 hours long.

The weekend was nice, mostly sunny, with highs in the low 60s. Woke up to pouring down rain this morning. It’s pretty much going to rain all week, and maybe the weekend. However, the forecast could change by tomorrow. Our weather is weird and unpredictable.

Another webinar hater here. At least my connection at home is nearly twice as fast as it was in the office five years ago. Even today, despite our massive internal fiber backbone, there’s so much plumbing between the desktop and the outside world, my home connection is still faster.

Oh, have I mentioned lately how much I hate pollen? I was doing OK this year until this past weekend when whatever particular species has decided to explode. I did at least wash the vehicles yesterday - the truck is once again shiny red and the car is shiny brown, rather than mottled green.

65 and sunny with (right now) no wind. Amazing.

I had a 6AM conference call with a bunch of finance people that did not go well.

And I have several more meetings this afternoon. So I need lunch and more coffee
