Good morning - dang, if I’d known it didn’t get started till this late, I could have gotten the ball rolling. I didn’t drag my carcass out of bed till just before 7 - I guess the traveling and stuff caught up with me. So, I’m showered, first load is in the washer, and I’m having a PB sammich for breakfast.
And speaking of too hot, it’s supposed to hit mid-80s today. So much for working in the garden. And the a/c will definitely be coming on this afternoon. Fortunately, a cold front is due thru tonight, so that will moderate the rest of the week.
Plans for the day: laundry, dr appt at 1, maybe a quick run to the grocery store, and maybe I’ll start washing windows. Just another Monday in paradise…
**swampy **suggested that I start things off with tales of Flar-duh, but really, there’s hardly anything to tell. We helped FCD’s folks with some heavy chores that would have taken them weeks to finish, I helped my MIL pick out and plant 4 rose bushes and 2 crape myrtles, we took them for their first Japanese Steak House experience, and FCD, daughter and FIL attempted to play golf one afternoon, but my poor sweetie’s back limited them to 3 holes. I did a lot of knitting, and we were forced to watch their TV choices, which included a lot of inane “reality” shows.
We did drive down to Lutz, FL, to get some rocks for the aquarium. The guy runs a business out of his garage - he dives in the Gulf and gets miscellaneous hunks of rock that he ships all over the country. We picked out 4 big hunks that are now living in our tank - pics to follow eventually.
On our way back, we stopped in our old home town of Orange Park. Daughter hung with her bestest friend and we visited with a couple who we used to spend a lot of time with. That was a lot of fun. We also ate at our former favorite breakfast place, but it’s changed for the worse, and we went to Sonny’s, which was good, and we forgot to bring home some sauce - drat!
We also visited a really nice aquarium store in Jacksonville and bought 3 hunks of coral, hoping they’d make the trip home OK. Two are fine, one is iffy - it may already be dead, but we’re hoping maybe it’s just stressed and taking a while to recover. We shall see.
Honestly, if I never had to go to Florida again, I could die happy. But until my inlaws are able to sell their house for a reasonable price (not in this market) they’re pretty much stuck there, so we’ll be stuck visiting them from time to time. And when they die, it’s highly likely that we’ll be taking in FCD’s youngest bro, since he’s unable to live on his own (mental and emotional issues.) We always figured this was inevitable, and now, the reality of it is hitting us. There’s a center in the county that deals with the mentally handicapped - we’ll be talking to them to get ourselves ready.
However, it ain’t happening yet, and we’re thrilled to be home. Our bed is so comfy, our TV shows the right programs, I have my own computer and don’t have to mess with FCD’s laptop, and the kittehs have been uber-friendly. Taz has been downright needy! No more sand, no more non-stop Trayvon Martin news, no more endless tales of medical procedures and deaths. Life is good.
Happy Monday!!
