It's too hot MMP

I’m a sub today, a teaching assistant. The students are all gone but apparently I still have to sit here for another 45 minutes. At least I can use my phone now.

Back from my Dr appt - I don’t think I’ve ever had such a fast one. I arrived 5 minutes early, got called back on time. The doc came in about a minute later, asked if I was having any problems and confirmed that there is no colon cancer in my family. “OK, see you in 10 years.” And I was outta there. Then I ran into Food Lion, grabbed a few things, then came back home.

Sadly, I had to close the house and turn on the air. **FCD **would be whining about how hot it is in here (77°) so I need to make sure it’s cooler before he comes home. If it wasn’t for him, the house would still be open. Oh well…

Supper tonight will be talipia, cauliflower, salad, and something else I have yet to choose. Maybe cornbread. Sounds like a plan.

If you think mid-80s in April is bad, well, I had that in mid-March, and close to 90 earlier this month (although it is now closer to normal). I prefer it when it is cooler as well, although if it is too warm to sleep, I use the A/C (I never used it in March before this year, but then it was so warm that it would have been nearly the warmest April if it were April instead).

… milk was a bad choice.

Dental appointment this morning. Three fillings, all in my upper jaw. Two of them replaced older silver amalgam fillings. So, my mouth is finally up to code. Barring any more cavities (ha), all I have to do is floss, brush, and get my teeth cleaned every six months.

However, getting my upper jaw worked on was much more uncomfortable than my lower job. The numbness went all the way back to my upper palate, which made me feel like I was half choking. I stayed calm by paying attention to the movie, but even after I got home, I still felt very twitchy - about half an inch from a panic attack. So, happy pill, only that’s not really helping.

I think the physical stress is catching up with me. I’m shedding hair, having trouble sleeping, my blood pressure is up, and my heart starts racing with the least bit of caffeine. Exercise helps, but not enough. Mom was genuinely surprised that I’m still thinking of staying in Texas, and she’s making noises about how much the trip will cost.

We have a nurse coming out tomorrow to assess Dad, and I’m really hoping she lays it out for Mom. That she has to fish or cut bait. Get VA benefits. Get Dad into either a VA geripsychiatric ward or a nursing home specializing in dementia. It may be that my absence in May will get her moving on that. I sure hope so.

A one hour webinar on usin’ eforms. Apparently because the stoopids insist on usin’ forms they’ve downloaded to their smart thinkin’ machines rather than just goin’ to the intranet and usin’ the current forms. Folks like psychotic hosebeast who I finally got to do it the right way. Oh and another webinar on Wednesday mornin’. Don’t know about what but an email will be sent about it.

kanga here’s hopin’ the nurse does lay down the law and it dawns on your mom that with you gone, she has to do something soon.

I got steaks marinated and beer chilled. In a few minutes I’m out the door to men’s night at the church house. We’re havin’ bacon wrapped asparagus! Bacon and funny smellin’ pee. Could it get any better!

We’re back! Missed you!

We had the longest doctor appointment today! Almost three frickin’ hours. We arrived at 10:30 am (Dad and I) and finally got back into a room about 11:45. We had vitals done, and waited another 20 minutes for the doctor to come in.

She was VERY thorough, though, and we liked her a lot. I’ll cut her some slack and make the assumption that everybody else was like us, a new patient that need a complete workup. She even made the decision that she would handle the issues that Dad was seeing a neurologist for. Yay for one less doctor!

It was exhausting.

Back to work tomorrow.

Who kicked out the plug?

The chihuahua has learned how to bark today. Well, more like he learned how to brrf, as that’s all he did tonight just after dinner. Brrf! brff-rff rrff! for about 15 minutes with no humanly-discernible threat detected.

Skimmed. rosie’s sig to all.
I tired.

Most exciting thing I did today was make eggplant parmesan for supper. Never had it before, so I was kinda winging it. It turned out really really good.

Now, bed.

I finally moved to my house in the mountains of Eastern Tennessee after selling my house in Athens, GA. Just in time for the apparent collapse of civilization and the return of Jurassic weather to good old Terra. (Just kidding).

It was the warmest March on record in this part of the USA. April looks to be somewhat cooler relatively speaking. It went up to 80, and that is quite warm for this time of the year. Fortunately, I have a creek nearby, so when my gardening causes my eyes to fill with sweat, I can always dunk my head in ice cold mountain runoff.

Why does the puppy beg for food she’ll never eat? Is it just the joy of receiving something from my grudging fingers? Or the happiness of depriving me of a blackberry (cause I’m not touching it after she’s done playing)? I don’t know. I just know that it’s bugging me, especially after I fed her and put treats in her food bowl to tempt her. Silly dog.

It was 93 degrees here in Vermont today!!! The normal high is 56. What the hell is going on?

On the computer last night- fleece pants and shirt, socks, and fingerless gloves.

Tonight- Sweating my balls off in shorts and a t-shirt.

I had a bitch of a time falling asleep last night because all the time spent in the “garden” yesterday left me with very sore hands and legs that wouldn’t stop twitching and charley ponies in my calves (yet another lovely medication side effect it seems). But, I finally fell asleep around 5am after changing from my bed to the recliner to the couch. At 8am Sweetie woke up with the dogs and sent me back to bed until noon. It was nice of him.

We were supposed to work outside today - him in the garage and me finishing de-grassing my “garden” but he wouldn’t let me out in the sun and heat (side effect of being a stereotypical redhead and a diuretic taker). Phooey. So, I was supposed to help him in the garage. We started by returning our winter batch of cans to the grocery store and ended up spending just over $50 on just under $120 worth of food/supplies. Then we came home and had really nice salads for lunch (I ate raw beets for the first time and they’re just as yummy as cooked beets and pickled beets). I also retested the pH of my “garden” and confirmed that the tester may be a piece of crap but it was right. I used the test tube with the water and little capsule of powder this time and it’s still saying that my soil pH is 8.

After that though, we were both pooped and feeling lazy so we relaxed until it was time for doggy school. Well, he relaxed. I put the windows back on the Jeep, dehydrated liver (barf), and packed up the bag for doggie school. Doggie school was a huge success. It was Holly’s first time at school by herself and only the second time in her life being separated from Ginger (Holly is severely codependent on Ginger which is why she’s going to school by herself). For the first time ever, she made it all the way to the training center and back without barfing. She sat on my lap with her face right at the window and she seemed to really enjoy the wind in her face. She was actually lively and cooperative in class (She was totally unimpressed with the agility class) and she behaved herself around all the other dogs! It’s a tricks class and by the end of the 6 week session, we’re hoping to have taught her how to play fetch (all 3 of our dogs are fetch deficient) and to bark at different loudnessessess. The best part of the class was the new puppy class before ours because new clients means people who haven’t seen my clicker lanyards yet! My trainer sold 3 just before I got there. It was nice to go in broke and leave with $15.

We just finished a depressing but good episode of Midsomer Murders. Now I think it’s time for an early bedtime because I’m tired and lazy!

Makes me think of when kids first realize they can use their mouths to make noise. Different noises even! They spend hours yelling and bubbling and yodeling and babbling just because it’s fun.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 60 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 84 for the day. We’re supposed to get rain tonight and tomorrow. YAY!!!

I have a friend comin’ into town on bidness today and tomorrow. I haven’t seen Allen in about three years so I’m all excitated. OYKW, he and I will have dindin and then Allen and I will probably spend a couple of hours catchin’ up in his hotel room. Hopefully we’ll get to have N.O.L. together before he leaves tomorrow. He’s comin’ to do some troubleshootin’ on irrigation systems for farms he says. I have no idea what that means so I guess it’s a good thing he does.

gotti just wait until your chee-hoo-ah-hoo-ah starts reall chee-hoo-ah-hoo-ah barkin’. If you’ve never heard it before you’ll wander just how so much loud noise can come out of sump’n so little.

pabstist 93 Amurrkin in Vermont? YIKES! I think the highest temp we’ve had here in south Jawja so far this year is around 87.

Men’s night at the church house last night was great. Bacon wrapped asparagus is yet another proof God loves us and wants us to be happy.

Ok, I need me some more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Blurf. At least I’m not sore this morning.

I was having tummy issues till midnight or so, and when I woke to **FCD **heading to the shower, I was not happy. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to fall back to sleep after he left, so I’m seeing a long day ahead. On the happier side, our cleaning crew will be delivered today - that is, a big batch of hermit crabs and snails and shrimps that’ll get dumped into the aquarium to eat up random algae and stuff. The old crew has been dying off and the algae is getting out of control - with luck, this new batch will do its job quickly. It’s being overnighted from Key West via FedEx, so I need to hang around the house and deal with it as soon as it arrives. Yay…

Other fun for today will include laundry, reseeding part of the front lawn that is still nekkid, and raking up assorted stuff. If I don’t totally run out of steam, I’ll be transplanting some hostas and lilies, but that may have to wait for later in the week. Fortunately, it’ll be a cooler day today - just mid-70s - so the house is open again.

**Gagundathar **- when my inlaws lived in western NC, we’d go to the mountain streams - doggone, that water is cold! Doesn’t it knock the breath out of you?? Altho it is more refreshing that jumping into a swimming pool that’s been warming in the sun and feels more like a bathtub…

I’ve ingested breakfast and once I get a bit more motivated, I’ll toss the first load of dirties into the washer. Only 3 loads today and all will go on the lines - no need to hang anything over the deck railing. I have to say, folding the sheets yesterday was such a joy - they smelled *soooooooo *good!

Hugs and random butt-pinches to all! Happy Tuesday!

Shuttle Discovery is aloft headed for DC.I am watching coverage for the moment on the WTOP website. My station will be doing live coverage when it arrives this morning.

Here’s my station’s video feed. It won’t get going until around 10 am when the shuttle arrives, but I figured I would link early.
