Near as I can tell, the pump was not running - we were operating on the pressure in the tank, and when it got low, the relay didn’t turn the pump on. According to FCD, the relay is working correctly and when it energized, the pump didn’t come on, but then a little bit later, it did come on. It seems to be working fine now, but the tank seems to be taking a long time to fill.
He’s thinking maybe our well is going bad. I don’t know that much about wells, but I’m pretty sure this is a deep one. I saw where I can check the plate on the wellhead and the info on there will tell any well company when it was drilled and how deep it is.
We’ve pretty much troubleshooted (troubleshot??) all that we can. I’ll just break down and call the pros tomorrow. There were only 2 big things we didn’t replace over the last 8 years, one is the water heater, the other is the well pump. We could deal with a water heater failure. I have to wonder if us being gone just over a week may have something to do with it, since hardly any water was used during that time - just enough to refill the cats’ water.
I wrote some stuff last night. Yay! And stayed up too late. Boo! And got up at an almost reasonable hour. Yay! And now I’m sitting with a puppy in my lap, who is chilly and needs to be cuddled in a blanket.
Mom and I have a theory about kitties and puppies and all other cute, snuggly animals (admittedly swiped from someone else on the Internet): when you find them sleeping in a patch of sunlight, they are actually converting and storing the sunshine. When they curl up in your lap, they then release this energy as gravitons, becoming exponentially heavier and possessing far greater inertia than otherwise possible. This is why it’s so difficult to move when you have a puppy (or kitty or other cutesome critter) in your lap.
Howdy Y’all! Home from deheathenization and N.O.L.. We went to the not too shabby Chinese [del]hog trough[/del] buffet. It’s great that they don’t charge more on Sunday but then again it’s the same stuff as any other day so why would they I reckon.
Rebo that is just waaaaaaaaay !
Greenie I’ve been to Tucson in July. AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH! It was irk related so needless to say I spent the day indoors. I’ve also been there in January and February when it was niiiiiiiiiiiice.
I was in Tucson for a week in December once. I thought I was going to shrivel up and blow away, it was so doggone dry! I was so glad to be out of there. My mother, on the other hand, loves it. Not enough to leave the suburbs of Baltimore, but still…
Still raining, chillier than it was when we went to breakfast (dropped from 52 to 50 - brrrrrrrrr) an so far, we’re still OK with water. I’m starting my second load of laundry, and I’ve washed my hands a few times. Still gonna call the well guys tomorrow.
I concur. You have an apparent electrical problem. Of course, an aero married to a mechanical engineer, this type of situation would go waaaay over your heads.
I had a nappy poo. Now I’m thirsty. Thinkin’ about goin’ over to OYKW’s place in a bit to, well, never you mind and see if he wants to get some dindin.
And FWIW, I thought it was the relay also. He claims it can’t be because he sees that the relay makes contact. I’m thinking it’s not responding to the pressure input when it gets low. But only sporadically. I think. He’s down there futzing with it again. I plan to call a pro tomorrow.
Oh, and it’s still raining. rosie, has it made its way to your neighborhood yet??
Kittens! I spent an extra hour at a student’s house, because their cat had kittens three weeks ago (and I posted about the Great Kitten Rescue in that week’s MMP). Their eyes are open, and they are moving around. Of the seven, two died, but the odds were against them. The remaining five are crawling around, snuggling up, and meeping with spirit. I so want to take one with me, but there’s just no way, darn it. Still . . . kittens!
Just got home after being on the road since 10am. Drove to a coworker / friend’s house, picked him up then drove to Winchester VA to pick up his new (used) motorcycle and trailered it back in the rain. Got to drive the big pickup & use my utility trailer, two things I don’t have that much need for now that I don’t own my own home, yet these were two things he needed. He was looking at renting a UHaul & Gas for $350, instead he gladly tanked my beast to the tippy top at the end of the run for $135 (33 gals diesel) and I was happy to help. He’s one of those really good people on this Earth and I am happy to have been able to give him a hand.
I do enjoy listening to the rain today. Glad to be home. Pork in the crock pot (to become pulled pork over the next 24 hrs).
Home from OYKW’s place. We had ummmm… and grabbed some dindin at that paragon of fine dinin’ known as Three Squares Diner. I had a surprisingly good ham 'n cheese omelette with grits and toast. He had the hamburger steak with smashed N.O.T. and gravy, a sallit and Texas toast which is always good. We be gourmets!
We went to eat at the Texas Roadhouse, and when we came home, the relay was still on, so the pump was still running. I think he’s finally decided to go ahead and replace the pressure switch/relay and see what happens. So yay! He’ll pick one up tomorrow, and I’ll have the system drained and the area cleared so he can remove/replace. Hope that solves it, but the fact that it didn’t want to turn on or turn off without help screams relay to me, and I think I finally convinced him that it’s probably the problem. And if not, it’s a cheap experiment before calling in the pros.
POURING down rain out there - it’s been a long time since we’ve had a nice, steady all-day rain like this. I should have parked my car outside - it could have used the rinsing.
Day is done, weekend is done, and I’m about to assume the knit position and watch some TV. Maybe I’ll wake up early enough to get us started tomorrow. I make no promises, because I don’t want to make myself a liar. So we shall see, shan’t we?
Until tomorrow - MWAH!with extra gropes on the side…
