It's too hot MMP

Blurf.

My day off, so I’m pulling bambilance duty. :smack:

Good morning! It’s chilly at the moment, but we’re promised a pretty day, so yay!

Speaking of aquarium sex, the other night, we were watching a show about coral reefs in the Caribbean, and it turns out hard corals do reproduce sexually. When the weather and light conditions are just right, they release their eggs and sperms into the sea in a wild orgy of, well, not a lot of movement going on except for the currents, but still, the video showed a cloud or reproductive coral materials. The eggs and sperms that combine to start new corals will float along till they land someplace and start a whole new coral colony. Not particularly romantic, but interesting all the same. At least I thought so.

And why am I not surprised that Nooner shows up for the orgy??

I’s hongree and I need gas for the mowers. I’m contemplating a trip to WaWa to solve both issues. But I also need groceries, so I could head to Leonardtown for a McBiscuit and groceries and gasoline. Or I could sit here and wish really really hard that breakfast, groceries, and a full can of gas magically appear…

We’re going to try to go herenext weekend - it sounds like a major league geekfest!

That’s all for now. TGIF - for you working folks, that is. Us retirees can’t tell one day from the next.

Morning all!

Just finished reading “The Other Boleyn Girl”. I could not put it down. I love historical fiction and this hit all the right notes. I read while I gave my exam yesterday, I read before getting ready for work, I read all evening and into the night. It was really good!

So…haven’t read much here! Hugs, kisses and gropes (distribute as appropriate) to all.

Busy weekend- we have a major even at at my college on Saturday. My daughter has her boyfriend () coming over for dinner and on Sunday we have a family thing. Busy!

Happy anniversary to the mmmmmmmmmmmmmms, and well done to Mr Ems for getting the flowers right!

I am having a relatively quiet Friday so far which is always worrying because it means something is lurking to trip me up later. We have revision tutorials all day for the exams which take place in two weeks’ time so I am kind of supervising those but not really because there’s nothing much to do, and preparing exam answer books and stuff becuase it’s quiet and I’ve got to get it out of the way at some point.

Next week I will be training my replacement for this job but I might have to leave her for a couple of days and go elsewhere myself, as I have been approached about another temp job in the building so I will need to go and get all trained on that one. It’s a kind of training circle at the moment!

Plans for the weekend…errands as usual on Saturday, lunch at the Indian buffet place, I’m cooking dinner and there may be a film watched at some point. Sunday I am off to see my doting parent so she will have a long list of things for me to do as I’ve not seen her for about a month.

'im indoors has broken the washing machine so that needs some attention or some replacement, not sure which as yet. He thinks he might just have overloaded it and if he takes some stuff out, all will be well. Otherwise he’ll need to get Mr Fixer to look at it. I await the howls of anguish.

Happy Anniversary to the mmmmmmmmms!

Wow, SO, you’ve posted multiple times in this thread! ::looks at recent convo trend:: Aha, that explains it. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s Firday! And I probably don’t have to work tomorrow! Yay!

Off to get ready for the day ahead.

Hugs all.

GT

it’s firday!!!

That worked out well… I decided to do the Leonardtown route. I got a couple of gallons of gas for the mowers - didn’t fill the can because 5 gallons is almost too much for me to handle without spilling. Then I went across the street for a McBreakfast, and made 2 grocery store stops - not that I needed that much food. I pretty much got everything at the first stop, but I’m looking for some little peppers in vinegar for **FCD **and neither store had what he wants. One more store in town to check, then he may have to choose a different product.

It was very foggy as I drove down 5, and it’s still overcast and dreary, but we’re promised sun and mid-70s. Once the sun breaks thru, I’ll break out the mowers and get to work. Rah.

And because I brain-farted when I read it yesterday and forgot,
**Happy mmmmmmmmmm-iversary!!**Slightly belated but no less sincere!

Damn what a week.

So we are reaching 8 weeks since my truck caught fire at work and it’s still sitting there, forlorn and sad in the garage, torn to pieces. I only started making noise with management to ‘do something’ last week and I am told that planning and procurement of new digital equipment progresses, but grr…

Because of this I have been relegated to a beat up Explorer formerly used by a coworker who had rather filthy car use habits - the stained cloth seats are the object of open discussion: makeup or chocolate?

Tuesday when I got ready for work I stepped outside to discover the right front tire was flat, so I got to practice my tire changing skills (not bad, 23 minutes start to finish). Then later in the day the same car started to exhibit signs the transmission was failing - shuddering shifting, etc. so I switched out to a beat up Crown Vic and called for a tow. I took the Crown Vic home Tuesday night.

Wednesday the assignment manager decided they could not let me take home a car since so many were broken and they were short. I got very upset - take home cars are a big deal in the industry (most stations have stopped the practice, we’re the only Gannett station that still does), and a big deal in the building (only about half of us have the privilege). Another reason I got upset is because I pack a lot of gear with me, at least 2x what other people pack, for every possible situation, so swapping vehicles is an ordeal.

So by the time I came home Wednesday night I was fuming, and little better when I came in Thursday. To add to it, I got an email Thursday morning accusing me of losing a set of gear Wednesday night. When I got in Thursday I found the gear right where I left it (where it was supposed to be) and no-one will tell me what happened.

I tell the story because through all of this, even though I was in a pouty ‘I wanna quit this fucking place’ mood I kept my mouth shut and did my job. By the end of my shift last night the decision to take away my vehicle was reversed, the Explorer’s ‘bad transmission’ was a mismatched spare tire causing the all wheel drive to go crazy (so they bought 5 new tires and got a tune up), and I was asked to come in early to shoot a story with the ATF today out at their practice facility (I think they are blowing things up), which should be fun.

So the moral of the story is keep your fucking mouth shut. I’m glad I did.

My week hasn’t been as bad as many other people’s, and I know it. But I am still glad it’s ending. Supposed to be rainy tomorrow then Sunday I am going to assist a coworker / friend retrieve his new motorcycle because I have a big truck & trailer, and he’s a nice guy who needs a break.

**tugig **- I was wondering where you were hiding all week! Glad the vehicle situation was resolved in your favor, but I can’t believe they’re still farting around with the burned truck. Apparently filming the news isn’t a priority, huh?

So. Apparently if you lose one hearing aid, the solution is to throw the other one away. :dubious:

It’s certainly never dull around here.

Oy.

So there’s this semi ridiculously complicated yet amazingly powerful program we use for school bus routing. Really I could go on about how it integrates mapping, student databases, vehicles, drivers, maintenance schedules…

I’ve been working in various versions of this program for about the last 13 years. THIS MORNING, I found by pure dumb luck that there’s a shortcut to save me the trouble of about 3 days worth of work each year. Those three days worth of duplicating things for next year just got finished in about an hour.

Damn I’m good.

Every time I see the MMP’s title I get an earworm, by the way.

'cos it’s too darn HOT… too darn HOT…

Just hauled a drama queen to the horsepistol. Yeah lady, I know your knee hurts, but I don’t think screaming and crying all 15 miles to the ER was necessary.

If she also tried to take her issues out on me, I coulda thought I was married to her…

Happy Anniversary,** ems! ** I’m sorry I forgot to mention it yesterday.

Today is my RDO, but I don’t have the day to myself because my husband decided to take today off too. So, we’re currently caffienating. I’m cruising the net, and he’s playing one of his games. I’m also downloading the beta for Diablo III. My husband wants me to play games with him, but I really don’t play any. But, since he’s been waiting forever for this game to come out, we pre-purchased a copy for me last weekend (he had already done his) and I have to take 15 and 16 May off so we can play together. At around noon today, I’ll be able to play the beta with him. He already has the beta and has been playing it. It’ll make him happy, so I’ll do it.

It’s raining here and I don’t hold out much hope for improvement in the weather situation.

I’m glad your vehicle situation got squared away, tugig. Hopefully they’ll have your “good” rig fixed up and running for you.

Is Mr. Soapyplanning on cleaning the shotgun?

Well, it all seemed kinda fishy to me, but now that I see that everything is going just swimmingly… splash

I’ll take one of each, thanks. Actually, make that two gropes, please. And could one of them be inappropriate…?

Does he know what he’s getting into? :stuck_out_tongue:

2gig, I’d probably blow up halfway through a week like that… Kudos for keeping your cool! (and glad things have been mostly sorted out)

Nah, he’s out back, digging a hole.

Blurf.

Spent the night at my parents’ house, because I needed to get the rest of my clothes and if I’m loading the car I might as well load it entirely. So I have all my clothes, all my bathroom stuff, and all my bedding. There’s only books and coats left in my old bedroom. Still have to pack stuff in the kitchen and the office (which is going to be a pain). And my mom is coming over tonight to help me organize my kitchen.

Lunch/break time. I’ve done all the push mowing, and I have to say that walking across a slope is hard on the knees, even with a knee support. Getting old sucks. On the other hand, a leftover mushroom-onion-swiss burger on a sesame kaiser roll ain’t half bad!

I also mowed the back yard, and after I eat, I’m going to do the front yard and the side along the road. After that, who knows… maybe some raking. It’s too pretty outside to be stuck in the house. In fact, I started out in sweats, but I changed pretty quick into shorts and a T and a sweatband. I am such a fashion icon.
