I've Fallen! And I need to MMP!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy (partly moony?) with a predicted high of 81 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Temps will be in the mid to upper 80s over the next few days. False Fall is comin’ to an end. The big items on today’s agenda are the layin’ in of provisions, and haircuts. I shall make a Sam’s run and get shorn whilst doin’ that bein’ as the haircut place is near Sam’s. OYKW will hit the Pubic Sto’ and then go get shorn after we both finish layin’ in provisions and gettin’ ‘em stored. Sup shall be death chikin (got a gnawin’ and a cravin’), peas 'n carrots, and rolls. We got our absentee ballots in the mail yestiddy, so at some point today we shall fill those out and get 'em ready to mail tomorrow.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, since I am to go about the public, alas, alack, and woe or woes, I suppose I should purtify and don appropriate attire.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

For those keeping score, I’ve passed the 90# loss milestone. It’s taken close to 2 years, but I’m not in any hurry.

I just finished prepping the kitchen for the painters. One nice thing - the counters are now clear so when they’re done, I can break out the granite polish. And while they’re painting, I’m going to iron curtains.

SIL texted me way early - he’s got to go to work at 2 and he wanted me to take Roxy this morning. I told him I’d be there before 2. I’ve got stuff to do - he can wrangle his daughter himself 2 days a week. And when I go there, I’ll stay until Daughter gets off work. Plus I can make a run to WalMart and get cat litter.

Then we can sorta put the house back together till the carpet guys come. Life in disarray will continue for a little longer.

Happy Wednesday!!

Happy Hump Day!

No day care today as Echo is supposed to be resting.
Nice morning, 50 degrees when I left for the park, 60 degrees when I got home. Supposed to get up to 81 with sunshine all day.
I should think about going back to the park this afternoon, enjoy the nice weather while it lasts.

Congrats on the milestone FCM!

I didn’t hear from the lawn/fence/bathroom guy last night so I won’t be going out to look at bathtubs today. I need to soon though, my coupon for 24 months of 0% interest ends on the 30th.

I’m still looking at houses. Don’t know if I’ll move or not, part of me wants to, part of me doesn’t.

I’ve ironed and hung the curtains in our room - they look nice. I even washed the windows. Our duvet will be delivered today, and FCD just informed me he doesn’t like the idea of a navy duvet - he prefers one of the colors in the drapes. But for now, we’ll have navy, and I can shop for the other color eventually. He can deal. At least it will be better than the rather wild print on the comforter.

Painters are just about done - maybe another hour? I’m thinking about hanging a pair of the curtains that were in our bedroom here next to my desk. At least in the interim… Have I mentioned how much I hate figuring out window treatments??

So many of us have tried to help…

Yeah, help… that’s the word I think of… :stuck_out_tongue:

They usually shut off the belt at 0720. It was still going at 0830. And in spite of that, they were still bringing missorts at 915, after half the trucks were gone. Plus somebody at Da Jungle screwed up. We got about a quarter pallet of Jungle packages. With FedEx labels on them. :grimacing: So if you are expecting a Jungle package from FedEx in North Wake County, be assured it is in the burn pit going to get there eventually.
Also in the “Sequential FM radio scan lyrics”:
Preacher: “And the Bible says Jesus was full of Grace and…”
Blue Wilderness dog food: “…vital nutrients your dog needs”
:dog:

Ah, you had irregs. Those suck to move, especially when it’s the 150 lbs combo fax/scanner/printer/wine fridge/ band saw/50kt nuclear device.

But how are you gonna play adult twister with FCD, if you take this one off?

:crossses appropriate and in apporpriate appednages for PWAISDN :

Dang, doggio - that’s some comforter! I’m not going to has how you happened upon it.

Painters are done and gone. The difference is amazing! I’ll post some pics after things are tidied and sorted. In a little bit, I’ll be heading out to do some shopping and gas up my car before taking over Roxy duties at their house.

Carpet company called - they’ll be here next Thurs to do our floors. WOOHOO!! And by the end of Oct, we should have our sofa and tables. We’re getting there.

I replied to an email at work this morning, and it bounced back as undeliverable. I called the company and found out the sender died in February. It’s an automated email.

Good morning, people! (Say it like Grace.) A Happy Hump Day and congrats to FCM on the milestone. We again have good air quality for people who aren’t allergic to ragweed. Miracle of miracles, a check of the house reveals no middle of the night strange poopages from the kitten. Either the Feliway is working or he is learning or both. Teaching from home today, covering the Wonderful World of Supply and Supply Elasticity. No wonder they call Economics “The Dismal Science.”

Hope everybody has a wonderful day.

Well, I just submitted our preferences for schooling - for the entire rest of the year. I really wish that a panel of disease experts were making this decision for me or providing clearer recommendations/encouragement one way or the other. But…my son said he felt more comfortable virtual because “high schoolers are stupid.” Okay, then. Hopefully we didn’t just jack the rest of his first year in high school. sigh Guess I’ll find out in six to eight months if I totally screwed up.

Other than making potentially life-and-death decisions, it’s been a quiet-ish day so far. Coffee has been had, the switchover to water has been done and first meetings of the day are completed.

Blurf. The first Blessed Day Off in a good long while, and for some reason, I didn’t sleep all that great, and certainly didn’t sleep in for the long, glorious morning-in-bed I’d longed for all these days.

I’m not exactly raring to go, either. All my “get up ‘n’ go” must’ve got up and went. 'Tis looking to be a very slothful day, indeed.

I do need to water my plants, and refill about a jillion critter water bottles. Everyone is so thirsty! What is this, some planet where living things require H2O to survive?
(Alternate joke: my ratties have a drinking problem.)

talky in my personal, and very not-so-humble opinion, y’all did NOT bork your son’s schooling up at all, not in the least … and furthermore, I think y’all did the right thing.
Even furthermore, your son’s assessment of high school age kids is - in the immortal words of Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinnie - dead on balls accurate.

… and on that note, your two-minute entertainment moment:

Howdy all. Got up and made an Oscar Meyer Braunsweiger run (for those new to the MMP, I’ve been a devotee of OM Braunsweiger since I was a wee lad, the local stores don’t carry it anymore (for reasons unknown), so I need to drive about 30 miles to Food Land, which still does). Hit the mother lode, the tubs had a longer-than-usual sell-by date, so I’m stocked until Thanksgiving.

Home now, it’s cloudy and 70F, rain almost guaranteed tonight and most of tomorrow, so soccer on Thursday-Saturday is doubtful. Rats, never will catch up with FCM’s milestones that way.

talky, ya did what you and your son feel is best, life gives you lots of chances to do things right (or not). Just do the best you can.

shoe, I’ve found sleeping in to be sometimes difficult. I can recommend eyeshades, they seem to help me get a couple hours extra sleep when I use them.

quietly, Economics was my least favorite subject in College; didn’t help that the profs I had were…not skilled with people… Have fun.

OK, need to get a couple more things done today, then maybe turn the heat on in the house (short season between heating and AC here…)

Take good care all.

Knock-off brand?

Dammit, I ought to remember from that old commercial jingle…

“My bologna has a first name, it’s O-S-C-A-R
My bologna has a second name, it’s M-A-Y-E-R
Oh, I love to eat it everyday
And if you ask me why I’ll say
Cause Oscar Mayer has a way with B-O-L-O-G-N-A”

Yeah, but I really needed that 50 lbs combo fax/scanner/printer/wine fridge/ band saw/50kt nuclear device.
Talky, high schoolers are stoopit. I hated my first year of high school. (Didn’t care much for the rest of them either.) He’ll be fine.

Had street taco for dinner last night. Our steaks didn’t thaw out in time so they’re tonight’s dinner. We had a leftover chickie boob in the fridge, so, some onion bits and bell pepper bits got sauteed with chickie pieces and Penzey’s Arizona Dreaming spice mix. Some small tortillas, some shredded cabbage, sliced radishes, and crumbleded cotija cheese, and Bob was our uncle.

An executive decision has been made, (by Wifey): I’m not going to the charity auction Saturday night. She decided that the $75 entrance fee was just too much for me to just eat horse doovers and drink pinot noir (which I don’t really like anyway.)
In the past we got a fancy-schmancy dinner and entertainment for our money.
Anyway, she has to go 'Cause she’s on the bored of directors, but I’m superfluous.

I think I’ll survive.

Speaking of surviving, I need to get myself presentable so’s I can take the children to the dog groomers and go buy some more foods. Petite sirloins are $2.99/lb at Fred Meyer’s starting today. Wish somebody would have a sale on pork chops.

Happy Hump Day, y’all.

For how long? I’m at the seven day point post-op now. Right now, it’s like the old joke on orthopedic surgery - it may not feel better, but it will feel different! They ablated from L2 to S1, and I’ve been feeling the effects on different dermatomes down my leg, plus a generally different characteristic to the steady discomfort.

And these are expected to be effective for only about a year? Ugh. Is it really worth it?

Dragged my sorry carcass into something resembling a gear.
All living creatures have obtained fresh water, and my plants are un-wilting as I type. I hauled my ass to the Gettin’ Store and obtained necessities, such as kitteh food, bread, and birdseed mix - which will be split between my ratties, who adore the stuff, and actual birdies, who need a bit of fattening up for winter.

Nikki and Monkey split a can of gooshy food & are napping in the sunshine. Life is good for kitties with full bellies and a patch of sun.

I have also washed … let’s call it some dishes. Not a lot, but enough to lightly fill the drying rack and give me something clean to put away later & some breathing room in the sink for the next washing-up (you Brits have the best terms for some things) plus I don’t feel like a complete drunken slob.

What’s the British term for a nap? Is that a “lie about” or does that refer more to slothful reclining in front of TV or a book?

I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I’m sleeping a lot. Yesterday I took a nap, which I very seldom do because it messes up my sleep schedule. Then last night I slept ten hours. Too much birthday excitement on Sunday? Dunno, but I wish it would stop.

I can see everyone’s profile pics again! This is when it pays off to have computer-wiz kid who works in the field. I’d already cleared my cache and done the factory reset thing to no avail. Son guided me through the fix, and now everything’s back to normal. I love normal.

It’s a rainy day. I want soup, specifically the carrot-ginger-sweet potato soup I made up last year. Yum. I think I’ll slosh to the store and get the ingredients.

FCM, a huge congrats on the big weight loss! Well done!

wordy, you made the right decision. If your son doesn’t feel going is safe, it’d be a mistake to make him go. (And nobody can assess kids like another kid.) This won’t ruin his education or affect his future opportunities as long as he’s committed to making the best of distance learning. So many kids are in the same boat that it’s forcing a reboot to the whole system. Your smart kid will come out on top.

MetalMouse, glad you laid in a supply of braunschweiger. It’s too bad you can’t get it delivered somehow, but a Mouse’s gotta do what a Mouse’s gotta do.

I haven’t read anything, but I’m diving back into the MMP regardless. Happy Wednesday everyone!
