I've Got Your Goat, A College Flashback MMP

OK, I’ve only finished page 1, but if I wait until I’ve caught up to post, I’ll forget everything I wanted to say.

  • On the OP, we never had livestock in college. But KT and I want to have a hobby farm someday with goats, preferably fainting goats.
  • Re SQL: that’s what I do all day. I love sql!
  • Cabbage rolls: I’m a big fan of un-stuffed cabbage. Waaaaaaaay less work. I don’t have a recipe, but the basic idea is cook some ground beef with onion, garlic, maybe green peppers, and whatever spices you want. Add spaghetti sauce and some water (enough to cover the cabbage). Throw in chopped cabbage. Simmer until the cabbage is soft and the sauce thickens up a bit. Serve, topped with cheese if desired. Easy.

Great trip over the weekend. I saw two sets of college friends Friday, another college friend who’d just gotten married two weeks ago, my parents, my godmother, folks from my old church who are more like extended family than friends, and former coworkers. Good time. I got home Monday but took Tuesday off to recover and relax. Not to rub it in to whoever it what who mentioned getting 3 weeks vacation, but I have 5 weeks vacation so I have time to burn by taking time of after vacations.

  • I have a hobby farm, but no critters other than the usual suspect dogs and cats. I want to get a couple of miniature horses, miniature cows, and miniature pigs, then rename my place to The Bil-E Bar-T Ranch.

  • You can have SQL. I’m an engineer, not a computer science weenie, dammit! :stuck_out_tongue:

Howdy Y’all! Two down and three to go! YAY!!!

Since I was forced, forced, I say, to go out and eat crab last night, tonight I’m makin’ with the salmon patties, English peas and smashed N.O.T.. I might even make homemade biscuits. Or not. I do have frozen ones that I could just pop into the oven to bake.

BBBobbio is still learnin’ about squirrels, I see. :stuck_out_tongue: And now taxi tells us her job somehow involves squirrels.

I just checked the temp. It’s 82 Amurrkin outside. That’s 32 degrees warmer than it was when I left da cave to go to work this mornin’. I wore long sleeves to work and came home and put on shorts. That’s Fall in south Jawja!

Ok, guess I’ll go mix up salmon patties.

Later Y’all!

Waiting for the boy. Ooh- he just headed the ball. Nice!

Blah.

Hey, my job with squirrels is a lot more fun than your job with phones! :stuck_out_tongue:

Actually I think some of our customers are squirrels with phones.

Question. Do any of y’all ever have salmon patties, english peas, smashed N.O.T. and biscuits as a meal? Is this just a southern US thang? I know a lot of other people who eat that exact same combo but they are (duh, where I live!) southerners too. Just curious if that particular meal is ever eaten elsewhere. Some [del]heathens[/del] people even put ketchup on the salmon patties. The english peas must go on top of the smashed N.O.T.. Why am I thinkin’ about this so much? Well, cause OYKW is at his place now and I’m all alone and it entertains me.

You should be ashamed of this!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Whew - finally a chance to sit. Since being home, I’ve done 2 loads of laundry, made 2 meatloaves (one for the freezer) fed the fambly, did the dishes, helped **FCD **with some aquarium stuff, and kinda, sorta shopped for furniture. Once I finish my usual on-line reads, I’m going to assume the knit position.

The weather was gorgeous today, and is supposed to be loverly again tomorrow. Then it gets chilly, then rainy again. Oh well, it is autumn.

Got a new project today, this one probably due next month. And I found out I’ll be on part III of the other project I’d been on. Two days ago, I had nothing to do - now I’m almost overwhelmed. It’s a living.

Happy Wednesday, all! Hugs, smoochies, and gropes all around…

I have never even thought about that meal. Not because it sounds bad or anything! Just totally off my radar.

Salmon patties and biscuits aren’t all that common around here, swampus… at least, not with any of the folks I know. Peas and smooshed NOT are pretty common side dishes, tho, but usually with something like roast beast or chicken or meatloaf.

It sounds like a yummy meal, actually. I like salmon burgers, so I’d imagine that salmon patties on their own would be pretty yummy too (but I’d put lemon on mine… not shudder ketchup)

Just got home from the 'burbs. I caught a ride home with my director, who is super-awesome (have I mentioned that lately? because she totally is). I suppose I should figure out what’s for din din, but I’m really not feeling inspired… plus The Boy is working late, so it’s just me and the kittens. :frowning:

WTH are English peas? :dubious: I don’t eat that particular meal because I’m not a huge fan of mashed potatoes.

I am home from another good day at the library. So far, the good days far outweigh the bad ONE. Yay!

Off to bath and bed. I am very tired. If the pattern holds, this is the night I sleep…

Three down, two to go! Whee!

I don’t really like fish very much, and never appreciated salmon patties, Swampy, but I’ve been told that some folks even serve them for brekkie. And yes, with biscuits! Speaking of food, I wanted to ask if any Mumper, especially you southerners (LOL) had ever had coosh or coosh coosh? It’s leftover cornbread, mushed up and fried with butter and milk, then topped with syrup. OMG, I had some for Saturday breakfast and it was good! Cornbread mush would be another name for it, I guess. My Dad used to make us corn pone, btw, Swampy; his family is from Tidewater VA (in fact, where Sean lives); a lot of times, BBBBBobbio talks about places that my relatives live in … heck, he could be talking about them for all I know.

Anyway … the weekend is -almost- here!

I am home…finally. In the very short time I’ve been sitting here reading my FB and the third page of the MMP, I managed to suck down a very tall black cherry rum and diet coke. I must have been very thirsty.

**Nava, **you’re probably right about my new supervisor. Ironically, it was a NURSE, who strapped her into her car so she could drive to the ER. I went to check on her twice today, but she was sound asleep both times, and I didn’t want to disturb her rest. I noticed she had the constriction thingies on her legs though. I’m guessing they don’t want any clots escaping.

I gotta say, Swampy, that it’s rare for me to actually enjoy a salmon patty. I’m sure it’s because I ate so much friggin’ salmon growing up. We fished, a lot, and always had a freezer full of it. We ate salmon once a week, at least. In fact, after I moved out, I didn’t eat salmon for years. Nowadays, I will break down and buy some Copper River salmon when it comes in from Alaska, and grill it up, but other than that, I tend to avoid it.

I’m not a huge fan of Denny’s, **Bobbio. ** I can’t remember the last time I ate there, and when I did, I’m sure it was for breakfast.

Somebody finally got it. I thought I’d have to repost in the missed one-liners thread.

I tried and tried but didn’t get it. :frowning:

The last time we had Denny’s was actually the first time that I had ever eaten there. TVMan I stopped at one in New York on our way to pick up some tvs. We had breakfast and it wasn’t too bad.

Billy Barty…

I’m sooooo behind this week!

Yay on the fixed computer stuff, rigs! (I didn’t say that yesterday, did I?)

 on Taters’s sup. Not a wuss. But, yeah, I would have either called 911 or found someone to drive me.

Back from book club, which was fun. But I’m tired.

Off to beddie bye.

Hugs.

GT

This is ridiculous.

My nose is running and I feel like I keep having to sneeze. That means either my cold has brought reinforcements and is moving back into my head, or I’m actually coming down with another cold. On top of the one I’m slowly getting over. I feel like a Kanye West meme.

Yo, dawg! I herd you like being sick, so I put a cold in your cold so you can sneeze while you sneeze!

I’ve spent a small fortune on NyQuil and tissues. I hate this! HatehatehatehateHATE this. I want to go all Rambo meets Fantastic Journey, enter my blood stream, and kill the everliving crap out of every one of those damned viruses with nothing but a combat knife and some road flares.

I know I promised all y’all a story of my misspent youth - you’ll have to wait until the weekend
