Ivy, my bad bad bad aide. She's incorruptible. I've tried

Welcome home, Beck!! <3

Thx. I sure am happy.

So glad you are home!

Home sweet home. Congratulations Beck

I would have fits. No one messes with my kitchen. :rage:

I’m glad you’re back home Beck. Skritches to all the little furballs.

I chuckled through the whole story, but I can’t stop laughing about this line. Every time I read it, I crack up again.

I’m so glad you’re home, Beck!

Likewise, so glad to hear you’re home, Beck, just in time for the holidays! Surrounded by furry friends and family. Sounds idyllic! The only thing that would be more perfect would be if Ivy didn’t suffer from catophobia. Maybe she can be conditioned over time. Many skritches to Bayliss and Jojo,. my two favourite members of your menagerie. :dog: :black_cat:

I am very glad to see you back at home. Ivy will get used to it

I am not surprised in the least. Beck’s household wants Beck!

I hope Ivy will respond well to this shock therapy and get over her fear. Though I don’t suppose that being yelled at by a Siamese is making it any easier!

(thorny, currently being yowled at by a non-Siamese who probably wants the door opened. Better go do that --)

Hopefully it’s just a dislike of cats. I knew someone who had a true cat phobia. We were at an outdoor party, and the neighbor’s cat walked through; she absolutely freaked out. Hope Ivy isn’t that bad.

Yeah. I hope it’s just that she’s not at all used to them. If it’s a full scale phobia, the situation may backfire.

In the interest of trying to cure Ivy of her phobia, I think we need a more precise description of what kinds of cat she actually dislikes. Does she also dislike hyenas and mongooses? Those are all of the large suborder Feliformia, so Ivy would be a feliformophobe. If she’s OK with hyenas but objects to lions and tigers, then her problem is with the family Felidae and she is a felidophobe. Or is her quarrel with the smaller cats, the kind that cannot roar but possess a bony hyoid that enables them to purr? These include the cheetah and the ocelot and belong to the subfamily Felinae. So now we would know that Ivy is a felinophobe.

But perhaps Ivy quite likes cheetahs and ocelots, but objects to creatures like the African and European wildcat or the Chinese mountain cat. These belong to the genus Felis, and we would know that Ivy is a felisophobe.

But if Ivy would be fine giving skritches to a Chinese mountain cat but draws the line at the common house cat, the species Felis catus, then she is indeed a catophobe. The only known cure for catophobia is to introduce the patient to a gentle, timid house cat and induce them to let the cat purr in their lap. Unfortunately street-smart wise guys like Jojo and vicious beasts like the Siamese are not conducive to curing catophobia. Ivy will just have to buck up and face the felines head-on.

My mind immediately went to “She said her parents died in a fire. At Sea Parks.”

Something like this?

That would anger me royally. But, Beck, you are more patient than I.

I’m so glad you are home. All the household rejoices. I’m sure the pets are relieved. But poor Ivy. Good luck girl.

May your Thanksgiving not be more rambunctious than you can handle and may Ivy feel welcome by all.

i had an unfortunate incident at the petting zoo, involving a goat (possibly goats) eating my clothing off of me.

i’m fine around goats, esp. cashmere goats.

Including humans?

Happy Thanksgiving to Beck and All!

Beck and Call?

Ivy said she’s more afraid of the crazy family than the Siamese cats. Shocking.
