I’ve been in San Francisco a little over a year. In that time I’ve made one good friend a few acquaintances. My good friend called me last night to tell me he and his girlfriend are moving out of town - down LA way. Damn!
Now I need a new best friend.
Qualifications:
Must enjoy playing soccer, drinking beer and wasting entire afternoons playing Tony Hawk 2 on the Playstation. Jamming on any instrument you have handy is a definite plus.

Well Jack, this is yet another reason for you to show up for the Halloween dopefest in Berkeley on the 28th. I’ll bump the thread sometime soon to alert the rest of the crew. Still haven’t heard from oldscratch about showing.
Hope you and the missus can make it. We’ll have a bit of fun. If you stuff a guitar in the trunk of the battymobile I’ll tote along a flute and maybe we’ll get a chance to jam.
It sounds good. I’m just no good at making plans more than a few days ahead of time, but I would like to make it over there.

I’d even to take you up on your offer tonight (my wife is out of town until tomorrow), but there was a screw up with my paycheck and I didn’t get paid this week. I’ll get a double paycheck next week though. Yipee.
But if I dig up the motivation and a few extra bucks, I’ll check back here later to see if you’re still up for it.
At the moment I just made one new “best friend”. His name is Napster. I just downloaded it this morning and I’ve been searching and downloading for 3 hours.

I’m still bummed about my friend leaving town, but I am heartened tonight. Oldscratch came through for me. He is officially my new best friend, at least until he pisses me off (I’m so fickle). 
Of course he could only come in second to my new real best friend (as mentioned before) Napster.
Where has this been my whole life.
Ok, I know, I’m like the last person on the planet to hop on board and it’ll probably be shut down in like 3 hours, but I just got a computer capable of doing it justice.
Man, do I love Napster. I’ve spent all day downloading some old favorites, and I got more on my wish list.
Next up - burning my own mixed CD. Also a new experience for me with this new computer.
When I figure out what tunes I want to put on it, I may solicit my fellow Dopers/Musical Directors for a decent sequence.

Aww, how sweet, Jack and Oldie hookin’ up and bein’ bestest friends. If I lived in the city (or even the bay area), i’d hang out with you Jack. But, those of us banished to the boonies must suffer alone ;). I even actually like soccer (it’s been years since i’ve played, but in middle school it was the only team sport I didnt dread ;)).
