January 6th Hearing-Adjacent Discussion Thread

Yeah, I got an email reply with that phrase the other day. I thought it was kind of funny, but my coworkers (cc’d on the email) were outraged.

I guess it just tells you how much respect the sender feels you are due!

Could have been worse. Could have been “regards”.

What’s wrong with ‘regards’?

'…

Regards,

Shodan’

(I am assuming. Sounded like an inside joke to me.)

I’ve asked the same thing. Another poster said Shodan explained it was a gesture of contempt, but they never cited the post.

I’m not going to go back and dig through 20 years of Shodan’s posts, but yes, he did admit in at least one post that “Regards” meant “Fuck you.”

Nothing to it:

So it’s sort of like “Bless your heart.”

It’s like, “Good day sir!” You don’t really want them to have a good day.

:man_shrugging: I never saw it as an insult at all. I use it in all of my email responses to the general public from work.

But I’ll bet you’ve never used “Regards” right after telling someone how useless and stupid they are.

(After you sign off like that, tell everyone that you’ve been meaning “Fuck you” for years. See how that goes.)

So it’s not the word, it’s how you use it.

Yeah, I’ve thought about using ‘Best Regards’ but I don’t know these people from Adam. I guess I could just use a simple ‘Thank You’ but that bristles me to be honest. I’m helping them.

If it’s someone helping me, I always use Thanks or Thank You.

September is only a week away, I do not know when the House is set to reconvene, but it must be fairly soon, yes? Is there any word on when the next hearing will be? What it will focus upon? Who will testify if anyone? If interviews and investigations are still on going??

Just before Liz Cheney officially lost the primary, in an interview she said work was still proceeding with the January 6th Committee. I have heard nothing, no detail, not even a hint for quite a while. no one seems to even be covering the Committee anymore.

Any word if they can make a connection between Jan. 6th and the documents in Florida? They probably have no business in that pond, but would love to see them address that issue also.

Two possible (tenuous) connections come to mind:

  1. Jan 6 as a step in a series of attempts to overturn the election, leaving time only for a chaotic and hasty Trump exit from the White House, giving him opportunities to get away with crap like this;

  2. Trump’s frame of mind continuing, even until today, to be that he IS in some sense still President, and can do what he pleases with sensitive government documents (even thought this wasn’t entirely true even when he WAS President).

Enough to be mentioned in Part II, but not, I think, to be a focus of a full day or more.

(The Georgia “find me 18,000 votes” felony is more a propos, and I think will be revisited with more attention than the Mar-a-Lago classified documents).

the committee has been speaking to those that have some knowledge of the discussion of the 25th amendment on or after jan. 6th.

they have sent investigators to denmark to watch 170 hours of video a doc crew has of roger stone.

i thought using the 25th had merit as trump was and is clearly delusional.

officially congress is back after labour day. maybe last couple of week of september?

Along these lines, remember the mini-bruhaha about Trump’s passports. When Trump claimed his passports were stolen, he said two were valid and one was expired. When the FBI leaked information about his passports, they said two were expired and one was valid.

So, what exactly were those three passports? Probably these:

  • His expired personal passport from before he was president
  • The diplomatic passport that is given to all former presidents
  • The official presidential passport that expired when he left office

His claim that two of these were valid would suggest at least a nod to the conspiracies, if not his own belief, that he is still president.

Thank You.
And thanks for all the updates!

One is John Barron’s.

Gavin Mcinnes, founder of the Proud Boys, was raided by the Feds during his livestream tonight. You can see it here (the first 50 seconds are all you need to see). Apparently the stream continued for 2 hours, focused on an empty chair, before being shut off.
