JC: Why did you close this thread in GD?

Just to explain the difference, and not for the reason of agreeing with any point made in here or anyone’s defense or the defense of anyone on here who may be a trol, as has been talked about in here, but I think the difference MrDibble’s referencing is “having sex with someone” may carry possible real caring feelings or love with them, whereas someone you want to fuck is someone you may not have any feelings for but just have a carnal desire to get your rocks off or get pleasure.

I’m speaking in general here, in “having sex with” or “fucking” anyone.

:dubious:

OK, I’ll play along - one is vulgar, one isn’t.

Do you see no difference between vagina and cunt? Penis and cock?

Not when the recipient of the action can’t see the difference because at two years of age she lacks the vocabulary.

It’s not the off-board two year old that matters, I was referring to the difference between directing the word “sex” *at another poster * or in reference to them to others, vs directing the word “fuck”

Fuck knows I’m no prude, but I’m also not so disingenuous as to pretend there’s no difference between the two.

I thought we were focusing on differences that would matter on this MB. Vulgarity, except for the word “cunt”, is not against the rules here. Yes, one is more vulgar than the other. So what?

Are you saying no warning would have been issued had the poster said: This guy really wants to make love to some kids.

Fair enough, but;

I had sex with a beautiful hooker …means I love her? (okay, maybe just a little though, only because she did awesome cowgirl)

My GF and I f’ed all night long while listening to Ravel’s Bolero. That means I just wanted my rocks off? (…hint, so did she…)

But…who cares if a rapist has “real caring feelings or love” for his victim? By definition a pedo is a rapist and their feelings are utterly, totally irrelevant.

I don’t care if 40(?) year old pervert wants to make love to the 3 year old he has deep caring feelings for or if he just wants to get his rocks off. Either one is equally wrong (although the “caring feelings” one is more delusional).

Wrong-See post #14. A “pedo” who does not act on his or her impulses in not a rapist.

I’m not sure which is creepier-- the guy who fucks kids or the guy who makes love to them.

Congratulations. That single, pointless nitpick has forced every single person on the entire intraweb to suddenly reevaluate themselves and promise to be better people.

Geezus fuck. :smack:

Congratulations. Despite all your posturing, you’re still wrong.

I promised to be a better people. :frowning:

Vulgarity* directed at another poster* is. “Go away” will likely not earn you an instant warning in a GD, “fuck off” will, I reckon…

But that vulgarity was not directed at a poster. It was describing an act. “Don’t fuck with the constitution” is not the same as “You are a fucker for what you did to the constitution”.

Moderator Note

A lot of the later posts in this thread are focusing on pedophilia itself, which is not an ATMB topic. Feel free to discuss that subject in another more appropriate forum if you wish, but not here, unless it relates directly to the ATMB issue being discussed.

Are there any more questions or comments about the thread in question, its closure, or the relevant ATMB rules?

ETA: Just to clarify, the last couple of comments regarding vulgarity and what is or is not allowed on the SDMB is straying a bit from the OP, but this is an ATMB topic as it does pertain to the rules here.

True - it was about a poster, though, which is the same difference really - or do you think “PosterX should go away” and “PosterX should fuck off” will get modded the same?

Idle Thoughts: Can you answer this question? I think it goes the disagreement that Mr. Dibble and I are having. There is certainly a difference between the “fuck” and “make love”, but I’m not seeing a distinction in this particular case that makes one acceptable and the other not.

Seriously John, don’t call the teacher and ask for help. I suggest Mr. Google be consulted, he has many answers, some of them even correct ones.

In the context of our discussion, the only difference that matters is whether the phrases would be mod’ed differently. If you have a Google site that can reliably predict how moderation on this MB works, please share that with the rest of us. If the moderator in question says that “make love” would not have been mod’ed then I’ll be happy to concede the point to Mr. Dibble. Until then, I don’t see a difference that amounts to a distinction.
IOW, was the moderation because of the use of a vulgar phrase, or because of an insult directed at another poster.

I’m not saying it wouldn’t have been modded at all, BTW, I’m saying it would more likely have been noted, not warned.
