Jeb requests DA probe of M. Schiavo

I don’t think he’s doing it for that. He’s doing it because the RR flat out said “Save Terri or else”.

He couldn’t, so now we get Jeb lining things up so that he can look at them and say, “I did everything possible! See? I’m even doing obviously stupid things for the sake of kissing your asses! What else could you possible want?”

Not necessarily ruling out a run on the White House, but probably more about keeping his ass out of the bear trap for another month.

What beartrap? What can the RR do to him? IIRC, he can’t run for another term as Governor of Fla, and I always thought he was the “smart” one, so he ought to realize that playing to the RR in this manner will hurt his chances in general for the pubbie nom for prez, as polls show that the majority of the pubbie voters didn’t like him interfering, either.

Don’t kid yourself, we all know Spot’s the smart one. Heck, his mom wrote a book!

(Bolding mine)

And thanks for paying attention. Now how about unrolling those eyes.

If Jeb can justify it, he will (it seems) pursue it. Statute of limitations be damned.

This is the sticking point. But again, Jeb will do whatever is required to see to it that some of his flung shit adheres to it’s target. Guy’s a colossal prick.

As a Republican I have to be honest and condemn this. Jeb is a fucking asshole, not as much as his brother, but an asshole nonetheless.

You stated in post #5

Adding to the threads referenced by This Year’s Model, we have this one.

So you’d actually like to state that you were unable to find any of four threads, all relatively recent, prior to starting this? :dubious: Sorry, but that claim is disingenuous, at best, IMO.

**This Year’s Model ** linked the thread you refer to. Just slow down, sound out the words if they are too big, and your error rate will go way down.

I could have done a better job searching. I apologized for not doing so. You have gone from claming I did not apologize to claiming my apology was false. You have made two errors in basic reading comprehension. Since you are tired of the topic anyway, why don’t you just piss off?

Contrapuntal has every right to start a new thread if he wishes. He answered my question about reading the board lately, and my response to that was not sarcastic. All of those threads were off the front page.

I haven’t been in this thread because I’m pretty much Shiavoed out, but it’s certainly possible that others have something to contribute. If you feel that this thread is too much of a duplicate to live, I suggest you report it to the mods and quit whining.

Alternatively, if you believe that Gov. Bush does not deserve to be bashed over this issue, please, feel free to defend him.

I had taken a hiatus from the Board and just came back. This thread was right there on the front page. I didn’t know whether or not there were any other threads-- I just posted in the one I saw. This is likely true for others as well-- some people don’t read the board but once in a while, so if they log on and see this thread, it’s the relevant place to discuss the subject. Why would they go back through the pages to see if anyone else wrote about it? If people still want to talk about this, let 'em. If you don’t like it, don’t read it.

Aw, the conservatives on the board are just suffering from exhaustion because the Bushes are doing so many asshole things that they can’t keep up. That and the moral poverty of their ideas might just be coming home to them.

Same reason we ask newbies to look thru GQ for previous similar threads before posting their question? And in the case of a dormant member returning, the request should be even more adamant; paying members can use the search function, new sign-ups can’t. If the returning member has something new to add to the subject, after reading the old threads, then they can decide if there’s an appropriate existing thread, or what they wanna say needs a new thread.

Awww, what the hell, let’s do it your way. We can just have an active thread for every possible topic that’s less than a month old on the front page . . .

On this I might be inclined to agree with you.

This, however, is directed at the wrong target and cannot be endorsed. It ain’t the conservatives on this board (largely speaking) suffering from “moral poverty.” It’s many of the so-called conservatives (which I emphatically assert is not an accurate label to apply to many of them) currently holding public office who’re suffering from “moral poverty,” and probably ethical poverty as well.

I will grant you that there is a great gulf fixed between conservatism as espoused on the Dope, and as practiced by the Bush Admin.

Thank you for acknowledging that. I’d also note that many of us, who call ourselves conservatives, have little support for the Bush/neo-con brand of “conservatism.” Which makes your phrasing all the more curious, since we’re at least as disenchanted with the Bush regime as the Liberal contigent. And maybe more so, because we may feel we’ve been betrayed.

You would’ve had some of my sympathy if you had posted this during his first term. But you (if you voted), and other conservatives, voted for him again, knowing full well his myriad of faults and poor decisions.

We don’t know, in general, who voted for who in the presidential elections of '04. UncleBeer may well have voted against Bush, as Airman Doors says he did. Going from the general to the specific requires evidence. Self-identified conservatives generally voted for Bush in '04, according to the exit polls. This does not give evidence of how any individuals, let along specific individuals on the SDMB, voted.

Some of my sympathy is reserved for those conservatives who voted against Bush, even though their efforts were not enough to unseat him.

Enjoy,
Steven

I think it’s still reasonable for a small-c conservative to have voted for Bush, even disagreeing with him and his agenda. I mean, for a traditional conservative, even the neocon agenda would be preferable to Kerry or Badnarik.

I didn’t vote for Bush in either of his election campaigns. In the first, I voted for Harry Browne; in the second I voted not at all.

So much for Great Debates, then.

:sigh:

Poor Harry. The best damn presidential candidate we’ve had since John Anderson, and a sane Libertarian to boot. And four years later they run that nutjob Badnarik. What the fuck do ya do?
