Canadian here also, and I also got tonight’s FJ. How is it that we foreigners know so much about US history?
I got it too. The writers are still following me.
Uh oh, what? I haven’t seen it yet.
I only caught a glimpse as I hit delete on my DVR at the end of the episode, but I think Mayim is going to be hosting for the rest of the season.
The return of Dr. Brain Pills.
Temporary! Okay, just wanted to be sure.
In April 1975, to symbolize the start of America’s bicentennial, President Ford lit a third lantern at this landmark
I was baffled by the fact that all 3 contestants missed this. I mean, what else related to the American Revolution was famous for two lanterns?
That’s how I got it. One if by land, two if by sea.
January 1, 2024 seems to be an awfully long “temporary.” Or am I misinformed?
Just checked the episode on Youtube TV. The announcement was that on Monday’s show, “Mayim Bialik returns as host.” That’s it. No time frame given.
Besides, even if an announcement did use the word “season,” that would mean until the end of the current Jeopardy season, which ends in July, not the end of the current calendar year.
Maybe it’s because I live in Hawaii, but I thought the Hawaii Five-0 answer should have been a no-brainer. Of course I also watched the original series when it came out and knew about when it ended and Magnum began. But c’mon. Especially with both series having undergone recent reboots, I really expected at least one contestant to get it.
I will be very happy to see Mayim again.
In the context of a show that had one host for 15 years and the next for 35 years, yes that is temporary.
Did anyone else notice there were two clues yesterday with the same response?
Yes! Only now I can’t remember what it was. Started with H?
I knew both but didn’t make that connection, no.
I remember once when there was the same response to two consecutive clues.
Just last Thursday, April 27, “Hannibal” was a response in both the first and second rounds. “Hannibal” the TV series in single Jeopardy, and “Hannibal,” Mark Twain’s hometown, in Double Jeopardy.
They have occasionally done categories where all, or most, of the responses are deliberately the same word. Sometimes they do that to trick you on the last one. For example, I’m pretty sure there was a category where the first four responses were all “Alaska.” Then the final clue was “The first state alphabetically.” You’re tempted to say Alaska for that, too, but WHOOPS! You’re wrong. It’s Alabama.
That kind of thing is less effective these days, when nobody does the clues in order anymore.
That’s the one I was thinking of.
