That date is his death, but I didn’t get the “huckleberry” reference. Somebody help me out.
Great Final Jeopardy tonight.
I got the Spice Girls reference, but Alpert made me think of Tiajuana. So I guessed something else, not giving the number enough significance…
I was absolutely clueless, with no good guess. And felt like a dumbfuq when I heard the answer.
I’m just catching up with this thread because I was away for a week, but what is with this weird bit of misogyny here? Only young women watch current TV and listen to music? Young women are so stupid Jeopardy has to “throw them a bone?”
Anybody watching Jeopardy! Masters? It’s airing right now, at least the Central TZ, on ABC.
One hook is that they are revealing the DDs to the audience before the round starts.
I’m recording it, not sure when I’ll actually watch.
It’s good entertainment. I’ll be recording the rest of the episodes.
Umpteenth example of Mayim sucking: “space station” is not a more specific form of “spaceship.” When the correct response is “space station,” “spaceship” should be ruled flat-out incorrect, not given a “be more specific.”
Sheldon would have laid into Amy for that one.
I have no idea why they think that is something the audience wants. I look away each time.
I think I did better in both Masters games than or regular Jeopardy tonight.
I thought the judges should have allowed Vulcan for Hephaestus. It’s just 2 names for the same god.
I would think that all space stations are ships, but not all ships are space stations.
I’m not caught up to the game the rest of you are talking about, but it did occur to me to comment on the one I saw yesterday: Scarlett O’Hara was not a “Dunce Dunce”. Her intelligence manifested itself in ways other than book-learning. So there!
The clue specifically said “Greek myths”. The Roman Vulcan actually existed independently before being associated with Haphaestus, so I think it’s OK to rule that one incorrect. I’d hazard a guess that the judges even put “Do not accept Vulcan” in the clues that Mayim had.
According to Ken Jennings himself, in an interview about the Masters show, it’s so that the audience can follow along better. “Ooh, that person really needs a Daily Double, and he’s about to find one. How exciting. Oh, no, he switched categories!”
I don’t know anyone who follows the sequence of picking clues that closely, but I suppose there may be some people who do. But since clue selection has become so random these days–nobody takes categories in order anymore–that it’s kind of a moot point.
As proven when Matt Amodio found the Daily Double on his very first pick last night, and in the second game, when Holtzhauer found two in a row.
I had a feeling the judge’s would accept “gutting” as a correct response.
How can a station be a ship? The purpose of a ship is to move. The purpose of a station is not to move. It’s in the name.
The International Space Station would like a word with you.
I was gonna say, the ISS is moving at almost 5 miles per second.
