Jeopardy! 2022-23

Classic Holtzhauer: go from $8k to $32k in two correct answers.

The current champ, Hannah Wilson, looks like she has the potential to go on a long run.
She’s at four wins and $124,801.
I like her.

Yeah. Unless they get specify a specific Greek or Roman name, they should be more lenient.

The exact clue was:

In Greek myth, after he was born lame, his mom yeeted him out of heaven, but he returned & made Hermes’ winged helmet

So not only does it specify Greek myth, but specifies his being born lame and making Hermes’ winged helmet. All that seems pretty specific to the Greek god to me. Seems fair.

I couldn’t remember the exact wording. It is a judgement call, and not certainly not unfair in this case. Personally, I would be lenient about different names for the same thing, which can arise in many contexts.

The tattoo on Mattea’s arm - uh, what exactly are those two guys doing?

I love Sam Buttrey on Jeopardy! Masters.

“That’s right, KJ!”

Tonight (5/10) Wheel of Fortune is a celebrity edition with Ken, Mayim, and Vanna. (Pat’s daughter will be “turning” the letters.) Are the producers TRYING to humiliate Vanna?

If Jeopardy is going to keep using punny category names, someday I want them to do “I’M HAVING NUNAVUT”.

The Celebrity edition is in Prime Time as usual. Sorry for the confusion.

It’s right after Jeopardy Master’s on ABC.

Are Mayim and Ken both left-handed?

They’re trying to be cute and I hate it. Reminds me of Ben Stein’s Money.

Just once I’d like to see this board of categories:

GEOGRAPHY - MATH - LITERATURE - SCIENCE - HISTORY - TECHNOLOGY

mmm

It appeared Mayim was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. And Vanna picked a letter that was already picked. Twice. One of which was actually already revealed in the puzzle. Ken had to be thinking “What the hell am I doing here?”

Whenever they reveal the category of AMERICAN HISTORY, I hope the next category will be PRACTICAL MATH, a reference to the lyrics of Chuck Berry’s song School Day.

You know what’s fascinating? European monarchy. I wish that would be a category sometime.

Hmmm.

Don’t they mean mispronounce the question?

I don’t mind a little bit of quirkiness now and then, but it does seem to have reached the point where every round has multiple “punny” categories or category names that when strung together form a lyric from a song or a famous saying or whatever.
