Ken’s funnier and more quick-witted than Alex. I’m often impressed by his little jokes that are often a callback to something a contestant said earlier. Ken doesn’t have that snarky edge that occasionally made Alex seem a little arrogant. He’s more knowledgeable than Alex, too. Alex was smart, but I think having the answers in front of him led people to think he was smarter than he was. And he was okay with that.
At first I thought the fact that Ken didn’t have a professional announcer’s voice and delivery would be a mark against him, but all his other advantages completely outweigh that small point.
My feelings exactly. When the Ken vs Mayim wars first began I was in Camp Mayim, solely because Ken’s voice did not seem well suited to the job. Now, it doesn’t seem to matter. (And I still have no issues with Mayim)
Well, Spectrum & Disney are in a pissing match, so ABC has been removed from my channel lineup. I guess most people won’t be watching the new season unless they come to an agreement in the next two weeks.
Actually, I’m vaguely thinking about cutting the cord (i.e., getting rid of cable service) but one thing holding me back is being able to watch Jeopardy!. Most of the stuff on the big three broadcast networks is available on their associated streaming service (Hulu for ABC, Paramount+ for CBS and Peacock for NBC) but that doesn’t extend to syndicated stuff like Jeopardy!.
I cut the cord when I realized Jeopardy was the only thing I was watching, and could get it OTA from our local station. So I bought a cheap stick it in the window antenna.
I don’t think you even need a subscription. Regular YouTube usually has the most recent games. They get taken down within a couple of days, so you have to be quick. But I’ve watched episodes that way when it was pre-empted on my local station for some reason.
Maybe someone can explain to me why the answer Mongolfier, French balloonist brothers, was eventually denied due to a minor difference in emphasis. Seems really reaching.
