Jerry Falwell on WTC

Jerry Falwell, “700 Club”, 9/13/01:

**

I have a finger pointed at you, Jerry. Guess which one.

And then get the fuck out of my country.

(Click here if you want to hear it. Not my link or audio so that’s not my voice at the end.)

That rat bastard. He should be forced to clean up the rubble with that cesspool he calls a mouth.

Hastur, can we PLEASE refrain from more insults…

After all-we can’t blame the poor little baby rats who don’t know who their fathers are!

You know the saddest thing is, I know Jerry Falwell, he really IS a decent man. He can just be hopelessly off the mark, and then he has the airways to broadcast that fact.

Jerry, PUHLLLEEEEZZZEEE go home, take some aspirin, and wait till we call you, okay???

If you HAVE to say something, make it relevant, make it touching, make it loving, but for pete’s sake, keep the ‘ice age’ stuff you peddled before the millenium arrived, deep in the cellar. You terrified your students, and of course, when you were wrong, you didn’t say a word.

You do a good job in your town, but maybe it’s wise for you just to stay there.

Being EXTREMELY sincere,

. . . and make it short.

No. I’m sorry, but no. No one who says and does the things that this…person…says and does may be properly described as “a decent man.”

I think every good Christian ought to kick Falwell’s ass.

– Barry Goldwater

Mr. Falwell:

There are Christians who are feminists. There are Christians who are gay and lesbian. There are Christians in the ACLU, and the People for the American Way. Please learn this, and then make your remarks.

What an idiot.

It’s people like him that did all this.

Bin Ladin, Falwell, the only difference, IMHO is the faith that they follow and that one uses bullets while the other uses words to hurt people. Theya re both usless fundimentalists!!!

Maybe we should take care of the fundies over here when we are done over seas.

God this pisses me off.

I’m not sure, but I think that if there is a God, he does not like to have his name invoked when his children kill each other.

Or did Jerry forget that we are all God’s children?

We are not all the children of the god Falwell worships. It appears his god resides somewhere very, very far away from the true God.

We all make choices; he has made his.

Max, you beat me to the punch. In another time and place Falwell and his ilk would be the “Bin Ladens” of present day Christianity. Probably members of the inquisition in previous lives.

If it helps here’s the full text at the Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A28620-2001Sep14.html
(Here’s hoping that works, I haven’t put a link on these boards yet.)
Anywho, I actually hope he keeps spewing this crap. The ignorant jackass is just making more rope to hang himself with.

Are you sure you’re thinking of the same person?

Or do you honestly think that there’s anything “decent” about demonizing anyone who doesn’t subscribe to your beliefs?

He is just using current events to further his own cause, and get some air time

In the words of Ben Folds, “It makes me real pissed off and it makes me wanna say FUUUUUUUCK!” A hearty FUCK YOU to everyone, Jerry Falwell or Joe Nutjob who says “We had this coming because we made God angry with abortions and homosexuals and feminists, etc.” There was a letter from one of these types in the newspaper today and it made me sick.

I think anyone who uses these events to advance their personal agenda is a scumbag. I don’t care if you are advocating missile defense, getting rid of the ACLU, or having meat loaf in the cafeteria on Tuesdays. This isn’t the time. The fact that this particular agenda is absurd and discriminatory makes Jerry Falwell a member of the high court of scumbags.

I believe that you can be a decent person and BE WRONG. Jerry Falwell has kids at his school that he is funding their education, he gives tirelessly to his town and to the kids there. Yes, he IS a decent man, HOWEVER he is given to speaking off the cuff, not thinking that he is still talking about PEOPLE, rather than ideologies.

I’m embarrassed when I hear him at times, but I also can’t forget what I know about him and have seen. If you only witness ONE side of a person, then I can understand why you’d think of him as a buffoon at least and as dangerous at worst.

I admit it is hard to hear him sound off, it makes me physically cringe. But, I can’t discount all the things I also know about him personally. I just wish for some duct tape to be placed strategically over his mouth till he has had a chance to THINK.

Put a little of that duct tape over his nostrils too…
