Jim Morrison Is God - A Love Her Madly MMP

Am. So. Exhausted.

Scottish Darling and I had a lovely day - got breakfast, went shopping, shopping, shopping, then went to Trader Joe’s to get some food before collapsing in Millennium Park. I got two lovely dresses that cost 10 and 5 dollars, respectively, at the used clothing stores up north. I’ll post pics when I get round to wearing them.

Godparents visiting tomorrow - must get up early to clean. Good night everyone, and hugs and kisses to those who need them.

Things are not as they should be here, alas.

On the good side, we’re all moved back into our bedroom, and it’s glorious having space again! Now it’s time to get all the tools back to the basement and sort/put away/toss the boxes and piles of displaced items that surfaced during the remodel.

Probably also good - the salesperson from the carpet company with the annoying jingle never showed. We’ve pretty much decided to go with the local guys anyway. So we didn’t have to deal with a sales schmuck - yeah, that was good.

Not so good - something’s wrong with Scruffy. We went out to eat last night, and when we got home, she’d puked in several different spots. I took the dogs out, and as we were coming back, she fell, twice. She walks like she’s drunk and when she holds her head up, there’s an obvious sway/tic. We’re thinking stroke?

She slept in the family room instead of our bedroom, and she puked again overnight. This morning, she’s still wobbly. So I’m guessing we’ve got a trek to the emergency vet. Unfortunately, the only one in the tri-county area is 25 miles away. So much for getting anything done today… Poor Scruffy.

Honestly, I half expected to find her dead this morning. :frowning:

Awww, poor Scruffy! I’ll be keepin’ her in my thoughts and prayers. Ya know what though? Even if it’s sump’n bad like a stroke, FCD and you have earned major karma points for takin’ her in and givin’ her a loving, warm and safe place to be. Still, major good thoughts etc headed out that she’ll be ok.

I am up and soooooooo wired, even on half a cup of caffiene so far. I didn’t so much wake up as went SPROING time to get up! Guess that’s what sackin’ out at nine p.m. will do. I mean I didn’t even have to wake up and pee during the night!

Jah I have tried to get my friend to go up and down his street with his “prayer rug” and bless all his neighbors to see if any of them would give him all their money but so far he has resisted the temptation.

Poor Scruffy. :frowning:

I am up and caffeinating. I am working all day, so everyone have a good Sunday.

((((Scruffy))))

The prayer rug sounds hilarious. You must be so proud, jah. Try and get your friends to give you money.
Yawn. We’re going to nine o’clock Mass, which is way too early for Lissla to be up on a Sunday. I’m in the middle of my second five-day-week-one-day-at-a-time-off and I’m very grumpy. I look forward to my next day off (Wednesday).

I’ve just been reading a paranoid pregnancy book, and wow, it’s really paranoid. Do I really have to buy a scale and wash my hands every time I pat a cat? They fall asleep on my hands! Do I have to eat some ungodly quantity of leafy green veggies every day? This seems way too complicated.

**LiLi ** - don’t make yourself crazy with preggo books. Or baby books, either. They’re OK for general information, but they go way too far. Criminy, humans were birthing and rearing kids before there were books - it’s not all that hard if you use common sense and trust your instincts. Although I do seem to recall that pregnant women shouldn’t clean cat boxes because of something in cat poo that could be passed to the baby.

Eat a well-balanced diet, stay away from alcohol, stay active, listen to your body, visit your doctor, and you’ll do fine. Heck, I started most days of my pregnancy with a big Diet Coke, and my kid was more or less normal. Foodwise, I had to avoid fried food - gave me heartburn something awful.

Oh, and once you’re obviously preg, beware of random strangers who may offer advice or observations. I swear, total strangers felt obligated to tell me all about their pregnancies as I waddled thru the mall.

Nah, my mom didn’t do that sort of thing, and look how I turned out.

doggio your mom didn’t go to mass or try to get people to give her money usin’ a paper prayer rug? How could you have possibly turned out more or less normal! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m all purtified and waiting on somebody else to finish gettin’ cleaned up and dressed. Then we’re goin’ to breakfast and church. I’m ushin’ today cause I agreed to sub for somebody who was goin’ out of town. So there I’ll be all smilin’ and handing out service leaflets/bulletins ( our “bulletins” contain the entire order of worship printed out so people don’t have to balance a hymnal and a Book of Common Prayer. we’re nice like that. The only thing one has to do is use The Hymnal [that’s what it’s called The Hymnal] to sing.) and just in general be nice. Plus do the count to see how many people are there so’s the Priest knows app. how many may come up for Communion, take up the offering, make sure the kneeling cushions are all in place around the Communion Rail, offer assistance to anyone who may need help in getting up to the Communion Rail, pick up the service leaflets/bulletins people will leave in the pews after church (c’mon people, you’re mother does not work here!) and in general, be nice. Sounds like a lot of work don’t it?

Oh and lunch today will be the KFC buffet. When we eat out on Sunday it’s nuttin’ but the classy places for us!

Ah, FCM, poor Scruffy; she’s in my thoughts as are you and FCD.

I was up earlier, caffienated and et, then went back to sleep. Now I’m back up and getting ready to go out–farmer’s market and grocery store. Sounds like it’s going to be a beautiful day so that’s a definite plus. Will return later to report on what I find at the farmer’s market.

Aww, poor Scruffy. :frowning: But I agree with the karma points; I know she’s been much happier since she’s been with you guys.

It’s a lovely, beautiful day here – about 65° right now, supposed to warm up to 72°, with a light breeze and clear sunshine. So what happens? Both Papa Tigs and I wake up with absolutely ghastly headaches. I lay in bed for half an hour after I woke up trying to will the pounding away; it didn’t work, alas. Ibuprofen and caffeine have helped a little bit, but it’s still pounding away. Phooey. Papa Tigs says he feels like the top of his head is being sliced off. I hope his headache settles down enough to take the Idiots for a swim; it’s a perfect day for that, and they know it.

Other than that, I got nuttin’.

Poor Scruffy! I hope she’s okay.

Good morning everyone, 'tis a lovely day outside, and I’m off for brunch with friends.

A friend of mine is going to make me a t-shirt that says “HANDS OFF!!!” across the belly. I’m looking forward to it.
We’re home and breakfasted, and since I woke up so early, and it’s a sunny warm day, I’m sleepy. I think I’ll have a nap before finishing my nice spring dress. The bias binding at the neck is worrying me. I’ve never done collar points before.

Poor Scruffy! Keep us updated, FCM.

LiLi, Mr LiLi should empty the litter box for the duration of your pregnancy. Some doctors get hysterical about women owning cats during pregnancy; if yours is one of those insist on a test for toxmoplasmosis. If you already have cats or have had them in the past you most likely have already been exposed - and that is not - repeat NOT - a danger for the baby. It is only when first exposure occurs during pregnancy that there can be a problem. I swear I think a lot of OB’s are on a power trip - “Bwahaha - I’m going to scare this lady to death and make her get rid of her cat!” I’ve never had children but from listening to friends I do agree with FCM pregnancy books can scare you to death as can strangers on the street. “Don’t sit like that! You’ll make the baby stand on his head! Don’t eat that/drink that/listen to that/think that…” They’ll drive you nuts. If you are feeling snarky when someone starts this crap with you, you can always say “Dr >insert OB’s name here<? You sure have changed! I’m not sure that is a good look for you…” And you have my permission to whack hell out of any stranger who puts his/her hands on your belly without permission. I consider that assault.

The yard has been mowed, and we’re both sweaty and dusty and somewhat gross. But the yard looks better, so there’s that. We’re taking a break, after which I’m going to do some laundry and mess with clay.

Scruffy is still not quite right, but she’s not worse. She went out while we were working in the yard, and she peed and pooed and ate some grass and wandered around sniffing stuff. Bernie the Brat decided to go take a walk, but when I called her, she came back from whence she wandered. Both of them are crashed - such an adventurous morning.

Anyway, if the Scruffster is still wobbly tomorrow, **FCD ** plans to take her to our vet - he has late hours, so that’s good. I’d do it, but I’ve got training in DC all stupid week, and on Tues & Thurs, I may have to go straight from training to class. It’s not gonna be a happy week. On the other hand, it’ll end with a DopeEvent so that’s good.

I just remembered today’s my sister’s birthday (46). May 7 is my youngest sister’s birthday (42). May 9th is my other sister’s birthday (52). All Taurus - my sisters are all bull!

Sorry to hear about Scruffy. Hope she’s better soon.

LiLi, you should look up a few of the expectant parent threads around here. I know I’ve seen non-scary books recommended.

Glad to hear about the lack of violence among the neighbors, doggio. I’m about to have three new sets of neighbors as 3 houses have just been sold (finally! in two of the cases). I’m hoping for pleasant and quiet people.

I’m taking a lunch break from work (I went in at 10). I had no internet when I woke up this morning, but was glad to come home to a live connection a few minutes ago. Going to Panera to get a salad, then it’s back to work. :frowning: It’s so nice out! I wanna play in the garden.

But, no…I have to be conscientious.

Back this evening, barring further internet issues.

GT

I’ve churched, ushed (ok those two at the same time), lunched and napped. That should be enough for one day right?

I am goin’ out to clean the pool and after that over to ol’ y’all know who’s place for a while.

Aw, poor Scruffy. I hope she improves, and if she doesn’t, well I hope she goes peacefully.

I was up by around 7:30, had some coffee, and read the paper. My son made pancakes for everyone, and then he and friend took off to go paintballing.

Mr. Taters and I played a little WoW, and now I’m going to get cleaned up. We’re going to work out in the yard for a little, and then I need to get some groceries. We’re out of milk, fruit, etc., so I guess I need to go. I need to get a few days worth of dinner fixings too.

Other than that, nothing much going on here. We went out to dinner last night with MIL, two SILs, and crazy nephew. We had a nice time. Then we came home and just relaxed.

I better get going. I’ve goofed off too much as it is.

Last load of laundry is in the dryer. We just finished re-spot cleaning all the puke stains on the carpet - when they dry, we’ll see how well we did.

The Scruffy situation is still weird. She attacked the vacuum cleaner with her usual vigor, but she’s still walking strangely and she stumbles.

I waxed all of the pieces that need to be glazed - I’ll fire them next weekend. That’ll give me a week to glaze and finish packing up for the show. I’ve already packed 3 boxes of pots. Whatever I fire next week will go into the 4th box. I’ve got to get price sticker or tags and decide how I’m going to display my works. Looks like **FCD ** will be able to help me after all eventually. He has a Dr appt at 9 that morning, but I can start setting up at 7, so he can drop me off, go back to the Dr, then come back with lunch. So yay.

I’ve got to get my tile slab ready for class on Tuesday - after the jeans are done. And that’ll be the end of my day. Whew.

Well, damnit.

The living room and hallway really, really needed to be vacumned - probably my least favorite housekeeping chore. So I decided I would just go ahead and do it today. I got the vacumn out from it’s lair and emptied the little bin, moved some furniture and away I went. Everything was fine for about the first half of the living room, and then the stupid thing started leaving more stuff than it was picking up. I am hacked off; I finally get the energy to do it - now I want it done! My other option is to go get the shop vac and do the whole room on my hands and knees. I do not think that is very likely to happen. Grrrrrrrrrr. Stoopid vacumn.

On the other hand, I did actually move the two drawer filing cabinet that has been sitting in the dining room for two years. I have repeatedly asked Mr. SCL were he wants it to live. He says it is going to go in his office, where he already has two 4-drawer and one 2-drawer filing cabinets full of lord-knows-what. He also keeps saying he will clean up his office to make room for it. That is probably not going to happen in my lifetime, so I just put it in my bead room. If he doesn’t notice it’s missing for a while, I’m going to sneak it out to my office (after I measure it to see if it will fit in the knee hole space of my desk). If I get it out here it is mine and he’s not getting it back. I need it for filing Booster Club stuff and my bead materials reciepts.

It is a beautiful day and I ought to be outside doing something but there is just too much to do in here. Tomorrow I’m going to go out and make some trellises for the blackberry vines in the back yard. I can’t seem to kill the damned things, and they do produce sweet blackberries, so I’m gonna see if I can train them. This will probably end badly.

Snakes blackberry vines are very unruly. And sticky. But you know that. Wear pants, long sleeves and heavy duty gloves to do battle. Personally, I don’t like blackberries. The berry that is. The little digital thingys I don’t have an opinion on 'cept to say I still see no reason I need one.

Hee! Speaking of Blackberries (the digital thingys, however they’re spelled), there was this commercial on tv that advised us we should get our mothers a red Blackberry Pearl for Mother’s Day. I said we should do just that, then our mother’s could ask us if we had just completely lost our minds. Both our moms have cell phones and PCs that they mostly ignore. I’m sure a PDA is just the thing both of 'em need.

I didn’t make it over to ACBG’s place. Instead, he came to da cave. See, I was out cleanin’ the pool and the phone rang. What? I took it outside with me just in case. I made mention of how nice it was out and that the water temp was seventy degrees Amurrkin according to the little thermometer in the pool. So, he came over and we got in the pool for about an hour, in our underwear. I thought I’d throw that in for a little TMI. Anywho, yep, the water is a little cool but it felt really good after a couple minutes. Right now he’s gone to pick up some Chinese food we ordered, which we will consume poolside and possibly have another dip in pool afterwards. We will, of course, wait thirty minutes before gettin’ in so we don’t get cramps or die or whatever happens if you don’t wait thirty minutes. Our mothers taught us well.
