What started the rumor that Jimmy Hoffa was buried in Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey?
This is actually a very good question.

There’s no reason to believe that Hoffa is actually part of Giants Stadium. But what IS almost certain is that he was killed by the Mob. What the Mob did with the remains is anyone’s guess, but wise guys have long joked that he’s “sleeping with the fishes,” part of an off-ramp, or buried somewhere in New Jersey.
So, if you were a joke writer, what funnier place is there in New Jersey that you could imagine Hoffa being buried?

You have to ask yourself why his killers would drag him all the way from Detroit (where he disappeared) to New Jersey. The Medowlands story probably started as a joke among Teamsters or wise guys before being picked up by some gullible fool who thought that those types of guys must know the truth.
I just read in Nov 1999 Boating magazine that it is believed that Jimmy Hoffas corpse is in a section of the Ausable River near Michigans Big Square Lake.
His body was supposedly wrapped in a green plastic tarp,rolled in chicken wire and weighted with concrete filled #10 tin can anchors.
This was supposedly reported by Ricky Powell,a jailed killer that alleged he was there.
Can you believe that boating Magazine is offering a 10,000$ reward if his body is found using their data from the article?

Other wiseguys have claimed that Hoffa’s body was cut up.
How much of his body would you need to find to get the reward?
Well, it’s almost certain that there are a bunch of dead guys in the concrete under Giants Stadium, so the fact that Hoffa could be one of them was a natural progression.
Why is it almost certain? It was a major construction project in Jersey, what more do you need?

I’m with Ursa and Rich – it makes far more sense that Hoffa was cut up and buried around metro Detroit. Perhaps pieces disposed of in vats of acid, that sort of thing.
