JLU - Far From Home

The Legion of Super-Heroes. Time Travel. Awesomeness.

Felt rushed. Would’ve worked better as a multi-parter. But given the scheduling a two-parter probably wouldn’t have concluded until, like, July so maybe it’s just as well.

Is this the last episode of JLU?

The last scene with GL, Green Arrow and Superman was priceless.
Superman: So about this boy Kara mentioned, what’s his name?

No…two left. I think. There’s at least 2 left, anyway.

Anyway…I delayed my DC heroes RPG for a half hour, so I could give full attention to this episode. Legion. Legionlegionlegionlegion! Chuuuuuuck!

Yeah, way too fast. Unless that’s one of their super powers.

By the by, I’ve been watching Superman on Boomerang. It’s neat to see that there’s so much continuity. They should have worked “Bingo!” in.

Cameos by my two favorite Legionnaires: Wildfire and Timber Wolf.

Emerald Eye: 1 / Green Lantern: 0
Take the Lantern over the Kryptonian?

Kung Fu Brainy - BOO! Validus a robot/android - BOO! BOO! Beaten by Supergirl alone - BOO! BOO! BOO! It took Superboy, Mon-El, and Ultra Boy to take him down. At least they got Mano right…he’s an idiot!

Wasn’t that Pre-Crisis Validus though? He’s a different animal now.

Fun episode and kinda nice how they wrapped it up.

Just for once I’d like to see characters like Green Arrow get slaughtered instantly. You know, when your dealing with folks who can punch through battleships and move at the speed of thought you should be dead, dead, dead in a heartbeat.

Rant over.

Was nice to see Validus though.

Whichever version of the Legion this is supposed to be (costumes make me thing mid 80s), Validus was never a machine, and always overmatched a single Kryptonian (although Colossal Boy did go toe-to-toe with him once - didn’t beat Validus, though).

I’m really hating the Cartoon Networks crappy programming schedule. They’ve been showing lousy 1/2 hour second rate anime for weeks, and without warning, BAM the League is back.
Is it still Saturday at 10:30 or have they moved it around?

Sorry, just had to vent.

I liked the tribute to the cover of Crisis on Infinte Earths #7.

Brainie’s actually rather the competant fighter, late pre-ZH. Trained by Karate Kid himself. Gets quite a bit of mileage out of people who assume he can’t fight because he’s a brain. (Hmm…the fight where be brings up that KK trained him might even have been against some version of the Fatal Five, actually…)

Bouncing Boy was my favorite character, back in the sixties. His sence of humor and his ability to always bounce back made him number one to me.

Kiss me, I’m buyoant!

I hope that wasn’t the final draft of the Legionaires’ costumes. I hated Shadow Lass’s in particular.

Sad that this is this show’s last season. While I’m a fan of shows going out on top (a la Teen Titans) JLU had a good 'nother season in it.

I take it you haven’t seen the other potential designs that have been floating around?

What I didn’t like about Tasmia was the way they showed her powers. Those were no shadows! That was a pure and simple energy blast (more like Lydia’s powers), and it was GLOWING!

(Chuck’s always been one of my favourite Legionaires, too…because he’s fun, his power is unusual, and…well, he’s a fat guy, who had a hot chick fall for him…one has to admire that!)

Mrs. D_Odds got to hear me complain about that, along with

  • pointing out the two Legionnaires I used as a basis for two of my City of Heroes characters
  • pointing out that Wildfire attacking hand-to-hand, despite being an insanely powerful energy projector, is not totally out of character
  • pointing out that this episode was definitely written in conjunction with ongoing events in the comics (not going to get into the chicken/egg debate, though)
  • pointing out that Brainiac 5 / Supergirl romance did come from the comics, and that in at least one reboot, Brainiac 5 was smitten that fast.

I’m sad to be seeing JLU go, too.

Does anyone know whether Bruce Timm will be producing any more DCU cartoons?

Speaking of, are you all ever coming back?

No Matter-eater Lad? :frowning:

Be funny to see him chomp Kara. I always liked him…dunno why…

Also, I somehow never read stories with Validus; was he really that powerful?

Validus was more or less unstoppable. He’s collossal - the Validus in the show is absolutely tiny compared to the real Validus. Maybe two and a half times as tall as Pursuader. The real Validus is 2 or 3 times THAT.

His strength is, of course, insane. He’s also got the brain lightning.

Inertron is about the only thing that will hold up to him.

“Insane”? Like Superboy-Prime insane? It’s a pity DC doesn’t have some kind of strength ranking system like Marvel. I read his origen, though, and that’s really messed up. Very cool, but messed up. And the Emerald Eye was more powerful than the GL ring? Wow, the Legion had some nasty folks to fight.

Actually, after recovering from a seriously corrupted hard drive, I just finished installing and updating CoH yesterday. I’m pretty distraught over losing my character in Oblivion, so I might just venture back into CoH for a bit.
