[Note: This got longer than expected, skip down for the meat of the post]
JNCO Jeans. You know them and probably dislike them. Wide pant legs, extra large back pockets and usually bought in a few sizes too big.
Well I love these pants. I hate with a passion “normal” pants that get tight and restricted at the shin area. It’s so uncomfortable. If I’m just lounging around or even hanging with friends, I should be comfortable. JNCO Jeans are comfortable to me.
No other brand does it exactly the same way as JNCO. Southpole gets close, but it’s still just an imitation brand. The brands that attempt to imitate JNCO don’t get every little piece right. If the pant legs are completely straight or “wide” then the back pockets won’t be huge and vice versa. There are other aspects, but these are the most defining of the JNCO brand.
With all of this said, it seems they’ve completely disappeared off the market. I cannot find an online retailed that even sells them, new or used. Outside of eBay obviously, but I don’t really like to buy clothes from eBay, it just feels weird. Especially if they’re used.
Meat of the Post: Does anyone here know where I can browse a selection of new JNCO jeans, for males? Online or a physical store.
Please speak up if you do, all my current ones are getting very old and worn.
Looks like they’re dead. I found this on Wikipedia…
I then looked at this J&Company’s website and it hasn’t been updated since 2007. The majority of the site (including pictures of a topless girl modeling the jeans and the store locator) was broken.
Yes I know this. Sorry, I should have explained that in my OP, but it felt long enough as it is. I didn’t want people losing any more interest than necessary.
I was hoping someone, somewhere, knew of a store that had a stockade of them in a warehouse somewhere for the apocalypse.
Again, sorry, should have made that more clear in the OP.
I found it amusing that the wiki article says they might start making a maternity line. From the looks of it they won’t have to alter the design very much.
Seriously though, this J&Company is selling designer clothes for celebrities it seems. The main J&C website brags about which celebrities and public figures wear their clothes. Plus, the online retailers that do sell J&C, or claim to, sell them for a shit load of cash!
Were they the company that started the whole uber-baggy jeans trend? I remember a style from the earl 1990s that guys wore; they were supposed to be worn at the natural waist and normally weren’t chosen to hang off the butt. In the legs, though, they totally ballooned out. You could have smuggled a few volleyballs, or a couple of IBM typewriters, while wearing them. But AFAIK the back pockets were usually slacks-style with just a flap on the outside.
It is completely possible that JNCO started the trend, yes. I have no conclusive evidence as such though unfortunately.
And yes, mostly dumb asses wore the pants and wore them around the bottom half of their dumb ass, forever tarnishing the reputation. Much to my hopefully obvious dismay.
I was not, or ever, a person who had the pant waist below my own waist.
The pant legs though were huge, no helping that. They made some that were almost novelly huge (see wikipedia article), but most of the time, the pant legs just went straight down from the hip. Never got smaller.
Sorry, JNCOs were skateboarder’s jeans and now skaters wear much slimmer jeans. All my guy friends that skated when we were kids were decked out in JNCO. Now it seems skateboarder fashion leans toward sagging slim or even skinny jeans and loud colored shirts and hats. Lot of jean companies like Levi and Gap sell relaxed/baggy fits - my guy had to buy them due to his huge quads that are part genetics part him being a weightlifting freako. Maybe you can try out some of those.
I have given those brands a cursory look and didn’t see the exact specifications I was looking for. Sure they might have wide legs, but I’d be lucky to even fit my wallet in those back pockets. And don’t get any silly idea that my wallet is huge, it’s not. So if these pants can’t even fit a normal sized wallet in the back, they are definately out.
Same thing goes for the front pockets too unfortunately.
Though I suppose I should give these brands a second, more in-depth look. Thanks for bringing them up or else I’d have continued to dismiss them.
If you think that Levi’s can’t accommodate a normal sized wallet you have a seriously damaged sense of what a wallet is. Perhaps you are confusing it with a briefcase.
Give me a few days and I’ll be back with a picture from my phone of the super small back pockets Levi/Wrangler jeans have now-a-days. If I remember in a few days that is of course.
In the chance that you’re serious, I must inform you that my gripe about the back pockets was somewhat hyperbolish. Yes Levi’s can fit my wallet, but that’s all they’ll fit and just barely.
So seriously, no one knows of anywhere in the U.S. or internet that sells these pants new? If you’re afraid of letting the secret out, you can always PM me. I promise I won’t tell anyone.
Come on. You’re looking for a specific brand of designer jeans that went out of business a few years ago and were last considered cool a decade ago. Ebay is your only hope.
