The Doctor has often dressed – unusually. I am not sure I like the “Steve Urkel” look.
I like the top, the boots, the socks*, the coat, and even the braces. I’m not sure I like the trousers.
Also noteworthy is the earrings (including some not in the lobe)
The pants are hideous. High-waisted pants have never looked good on anyone, making them shapeless and baggy is even worse. Just because you’re 500 years old doesn’t mean you have to dress like a nursing home resident.
Not loving the costume. I loved her original outfit, with the hoodie and the gray coat. I was really hoping she’d keep this one. Now, though, she looks like (as somebody on Facebook pointed out yesterday) Mork from Ork and Punky Brewster got together and had a baby.
I’ll reserve judgment until I see her in action, since I actually liked Colin Baker’s Doctor and learned to look past his ridiculous getup and just enjoy the character. Maybe Thirteen will have the same effect (or maybe enough fans will hate the costume that they’ll give her a new one soon).
First impression? Hate it. Of course the writing is going to make or break it not the outfit. Goofy outfits is so old Who. I prefer my Who’s to be more like 9.
I quite like it. Love the boots, I have nothing against culottes, and the braces are probably going to be the bowtie/Converse/piece of celery style-motif for this Doctor.
9 just wore clothes that yer average gangland enforcer wore in low-budget British movies in the 1990s. Every other Doctor has something off-kilter to their dress sense, obviously to wildly varying degrees
11’s fez was ridiculed in the programme itself, with River eventually shooting it. It was a joke.
Considering that we are not far removed from some rather seriously plainclothes (save for funky specs, sneakers, ties and a fez) Doctors, one can give a chance to seeking a signature look. But alas, yes, I’m of an age to think Mork/Urkel when I see that. We’ll see how it works, though. At least they don’t seem to have thrown in a question mark.
Maybe this will be explained as the result of how the wardrobes are just filled with really dorky men’s outfits.
