From the beginning, having watched the show only once or twice, I suspected that her bitchiness might be justified anger tightly controlled. The farther we go down this road, the more I think I’m right about that. I don’t watch the show, but it’s hard not to know the details!
I predict he’s going to sink into drug/sex addiction, and he will live the rest of his life dependent upon the alimony she’ll have to pay him. She’s the one who’s going to come through and make life possible for those children. If I were in her shoes, I’d do exactly the same. this ride will only last so long, and she has to bank as much as she can while it’s going, in order to care for those children in future. I hoep she’s smart enought o put as much as possible into their 509ks and a Trust account, so that he can’t grab and spend the money she needs to take care of them.
During their separation (and maybe before it) he partied hard and starting dating a local teacher and then the doctor’s daughter. It’s like he was let loose and then didn’t want to be around the house very much.
She is rumored to be having an affair but it hasn’t been as obvious as Jon’s messing around.
It’s that he left her for a younger woman… basically.
If he had filed for divorce and laid low for awhile… everyone would be all “good for him!” but he was seen out with this average looking but younger woman long before it went public so he came off as a douche.
I think when you combine his using drugs in front of the kids and sleeping with the nanny when they were supposed to be caring for the children - yeah, a different picture emerges.
I don’t pretend to know the truth about these people, but this is what I’ve heard. . .
Fromt he beginning though, she always looked exhausted and stressed, and he always looked fresh as a daisy. That’s always a bad sign in a father with young children.
Cite for using drugs in front of the kids? I haven’t heard that either, and unfortunately the thief household is a hotbed of J&K+8 gossip.
And he did have a girlfriend sleep over on a weekend when he was with the kids, but I don’t know of any accusation that they weren’t also caring for the kids. My wife and I manage to sleep together every night and all our kids are still alive.
Sorry, I just hate to see Jon jumped on so much because of his behavior after the divorce, when it’s clear to a long time watcher of the show that Kate pushed him into this. Specifically, when he started to say “Sorry, I’m tired of the show and the fame, I think it’s beginning to affect our kids negatively, we should end this and use the banked cash for college/retirement,” Kate basically told him to shut up and smile for the cameras.
ETA: Not that I’m excusing his behavior since. It’s just that a lot of people are seeing what he’s like now, and assuming that because of the way he is now, he must be the one who was responsible for the divorce.
I disagree with the messed up kids. The kids actually seem to be really quite pleasant, not spoiled, and well behaved. They eat healthfully and are expected to comport themselves. They also have met lots of people and know what is out there. I think they will do all right for themselves. Compare them to the Duggar kids who can do nothing but mug for the camera and spout their holier than thou message.
Jon and Kate are really ugly people who made a bad choice in having so many kids, but I really believe that they somehow are really good parents (all 6 kids were potty trained early, etc.). The kids certainly respect them and their authority.
Comparing the Goselin (sp) kids to the Duggars is setting way too low of a bar. My guess is that the sextuplets have a decent enough chance of turning out OK. The older twins probably don’t. One of them (can’t remember which) has an enormous attitude problem. And they’re old enough that they must be hearing things from their classmates. That’s got to mess you up.
I’m completely honest when I say I have never watched an episode of J&K+8, but of course it’s near impossible not to know way more than I ever wanted to about them. However, am I correct in remembering that before the break-up he was considered one of the most pitiable and henpecked and p-whipped husbands on TV? If so it’s odd that it’s gone this full circle to where she’s the sympathetic one.
Now that would be a show- The Heenes vs. the Gosselins, maybe with some younger generations Culkins and Osmonds thrown in for wildcards, kind of like AMAZING RACE but with reality kids. Sasha and Malia Obama could host from AIR FORCE 1. The kids are all set up in the air at the same time and whoever goes furthest wins, and if they land in your yard you get a trip to Disneyworld.
Yes. If you watch the very early episodes, they’re a family dealing with 8 young kids as well as they can. As the show proceeds, Kate becomes a petty tyrant. She gets into the mode where she will give Jon a task (such as getting the boys dressed), then watch him like a hawk, then angrily point out all the “mistakes” he made, “mistakes” being defined as “deviating from the exact way I (Kate) would have performed the same task.” The fact that the goal was achieved in a timely fashion was completely irrelevant to her.
I’d read in an online article that she wanted the experience of having only one infant, after dealing with the constant demands of two. I’ll suggest that undergoing fertility treatment with the aim of having a single child, when you’re opposed to reduction, is not a recommended way to achieve that aim.
I also think the way she’ll yell at him in stores and the like is annoying. Or well, used to I guess. Also how she’d be so petty about what the kids wore–like they had to get super dressed up to go to Crayola Factory but they couldn’t play with “messy” items because of their nice clothes. She just seems super controlling and family trips don’t sound so fun with her.
Or I saw a clip of the two of them plus the kids getting passports for a trip to South Korea that didn’t end up happening and he was all, “You wrote down Korea, it’s SOUTH Korea” and she responded with, “NO ONE IS SUPPOSED TO KNOW WE’RE GOING TO SOUTH KOREA!!!” which was probably attracting even more attention.
