It’s nice to find out who’s really soft on crime.
Yes, I agree with everything you said in this post, except that it also implies throwing the kid out of the family forever. As many have said, it is likely that the repressive sex-is-evil regime where no-one can speak frankly about adolescent issues contributed to his actions. Therefore it is possible, even likely, that he can be taught a better way, and learn what was really wrong with what he did*. Therefore, therapy as well as punishment. It goes without saying that therapy should be given to the girls who were victims of his actions.
In the case of Josh Duggar it would have been doing him a favor to take him out of that family, but not throwing him into the street. And in more normal families, such as yours and mine, I hope the parents would look at their own parenting too. This kind of behavior doesn’t happen in a vacuum. If it turns out that the kid is some kind of sociopath or something, then prove that and put him in an institution. Even then, “I don’t have a son” is cowardly, when the truth is “I have a son who is an institutionalized sociopath.”
*what was really wrong with what he did - not that he was expressing a sinful interest in sex, but that other people, especially including women and girls, always have the right to decide who touches them sexually and when. And when they are under the age of consent, it’s always wrong.
But wait, there’s more…
Hitting an infant? That’s disgusting. Where the hell is CPS?
Who would report them? The only people they associate with, are those who have the same beliefs.
What’s interesting here is that blanket training is performed by the girls as one of the “women duties” they become subjected to. Perhaps this contributed to Josh’s little fantasy tryst?? Probably not, since the boys in this type of cult come out on top and in charge.
He was the eldest, though–so I guess Michelle would have blanket trained him herself.
In Josh’s defense, he only molested a minority of his siblings.
check my link in post #503. They deserve all the attacks they get.
Every female member of his house at the time, besides his mother.
And one of the sisters.
The oldest sister. He molested his younger sisters except for the one closest to him in age. That’s the hemorrhoid cherry on top of this shit sundae.
The latest from this train wreck…
The Duggar family is under investigation again by the Arkansas Department of Human Services and police were called when the family refused to cooperate, In Touch magazine is reporting exclusively in its new issue that hits newsstands today.
A representative from the Washington County DHS called 911 on May 27 at around 11 a.m. asking for police assistance when DHS was not allowed to see the minor they were concerned about. In Touch, which broke the story of Josh Duggar’s sexual molestation scandal, has the full transcript of the emergency call in the new issue.
The new investigation comes as the family tries to save its TLC reality show, 19 Kids and Counting, which the network pulled off the air, while determining its fate. Jim Bob, Michelle and two of their daughters sat for interviews with Fox News, attempting to minimize the damage, but much of what they said was widely condemned as misinformation and not full disclosure.
The Duggars made no mention of the fact that they have been under investigation again, but In Touch discovered what they are hiding via another Freedom of Information Act request that produced the 911 call.
After identifying himself as a Washington Country DHS employee and stating the Duggar family address, the caller tells the 911 operator, “We have an investigation and I guess they’re not being cooperative. We have to see the child to make sure the child is all right. So we just need police assistance.”

The freak show has been canceled.
Took long enough. They couldn’t do a financial analysis faster than six weeks?
Hey, it required thoughtful consideration. You know, like “is this going to blow over so we can still milk this money cow, or is the blowback going to be too serious?”
It’s not because of a financial analysis, it’s because of this:
There’d been rumors of a spinoff with Jill and Jessa, I believe even before the news about Josh broke. If the documentary is at all successful, TLC will use that as a jump-off point for a series following them.
Finally canceling the show and working with RAINN are good things, but TLC deserves just the bare minimum of praise.
If it gets them to acknowledge how fucked up what Josh and his parents did were, and, better yet, convinces those diehard fans of the same, I’m all for it.
And I might actually watch that series if TLC didn’t give them veto power over the editing, or otherwise bend over backward to present them in the best possible, least crazy light. Of course if they did that it would only last 1 season.
I hope they make them Amish in the sequel.
