Joy To The World! There's A New MMP!

The snow is melting. Crisis averted. We got maybe half an inch. I’m still holding out hope for a good snow that requires brushing off the car this winter. I actually enjoyed The Winter of Much Snow a couple of years ago.

::Yawn::

It’s Sunday.
After sleeping almost all day yesterday and all night too I feel alive again.

Never made it MVA so I still have to do that sometime soon.
I should go to irk but I don’t want to. I need to clean and organize because clutter and disorganization make me feel icky.
Then again I need to irk because lack of money makes me feel icky too.

Blurfy blurf.

Sorry about the gourami Flytrap- the giant goramy I bought my Dad died mysteriously 2 weeks ago too, I likes gouramis… :frowning: Good job the others are OK though.

Been trying to find some sand to set up my new tank today, the biggest axolotl is getting bigger (not Tokyo eating size yet though). They need sand 'cos they’re stoopid critters that will eat gravel, which clogs up their innards, but sand just harmlessly exfoliates their insides or something- kiddie safe playpit sand is OK, and way cheaper than the proper aquarium stuff, but of course it’s midwinter, so everywhere I went was sold out. Bah.

I’ll try a few different places tomorrow, and if all else fails, a mission to the fishy shop will be in order.

For some reason my Mam gave me a large bag of parsnips when I went up to see the parents, so I’m making spicy roast parsnip soup. I still have loads left though- any (vegetarian) ideas, Mumper cooks?

Wunderbar. I just got a text from Older Sister–my dad’s in the hospital with “severe leg pain that requires a lot of noise.” She and Oldest Sister are down there now with orders to keep me updated. No ideas yet as to what’s causing the pain.

FCM the trip to France sounds like fun.
If I liked to travel, which I don’t, but I love to hear about other peoples’ travels.

Sometimes I think I’m adopted because I am the only one in the family who hates to travel.

GT what is it with people who yell at inanimate objects hoping to change the outcome of a game hundreds of miles away?

I’ve been converted to swimming pool filter sand. It is much cleaner, although the grains are slightly bigger. It doesn’t cost much more than Play Sand.

This morning’s call - the boat (& the people on it) made it back to FL port w/o incident. The phone that called me from Hell OTOH decided it liked the Caribbean so much that it opted to seek asylum in the Honduras & stayed there. :smack:
Guess I won’t be seeing any pix of this trip.

I guess I should get dressed now - friends will be here in about 30 for a casual afternoon of just being us.

I’ve heard that’s common in the US, but it’s tough to find over here- there’s not space for swimming pools in most UK houses/gardens.

Arrgh! After that gigantic snowstorm a few days ago, the sidewalks STILL haven’t been cleared. Meaning I have to walk ON THE ROAD on even the busiest major roads. Not safe at all.

Home from deheathenization and bein’ brekkied as well. ‘Twas a lot o’ food. N.O.L. ain’t happenin’ cause we both be stuffded! OYKW is over at his place to do a little defilthyfyin’. I kinda sorta offered to go help but didn’t put a lot of enthusiasm into it so he declined the offer. Thus mayhaps a nappy poo is in store. I will go over later this afternoon as we have decided we shall dine on the haute cuisine at that most gourmet of all places Three Squares Diner this evenin’.

Thus is Sunday at da cave.

My dad has a clogged vein. He’s going into surgery soon to either get a bypass or an unclogged vein. He has Type 2 diabetes so leg problems are serious.

sending healing vibes to SpazDad

Aw, {{{Spaz}}}, that’s awful. But he’s in the right place and I’m sure everything will be fine.

We’re back from Red Robin and WalMart. **FCD **is futzing in his shop. I have a big basket of laundry to fold, then I think I might finish the afghan. It’s very windy out, so the cold cuts right thru a body - definitely a great day to hang out inside.

Went to the store to renew my bus pass. Everything outside was trying to kill me:

The city tried to kill me by leaving huge snowdrifts on the sidewalks and not clearing them, rendering the sidewalks completely unusuable.

Cars came within inches of hitting me.

I stared down a snowplow that was driving straight towards me and trying to kill me. I then walked down the street and the same snowplow reappeared, and the same thing happened.

And the winter weather was trying to blow my hood off and freeze my entire head. Also, my legs went completely numb.

I think I’ll stay inside for the rest of the day.

{{{Spaz}}} your dad is in my thoughts and prayers. Here’s hopin’ for a speedy recovery. Take comfort in knowin’ he’s in the right place to get the care he needs.

Midget yikes! Glad the city did not kill ya. I think if it were me, I’d want to stay inside until Spring.

**sari **- my mom called - she’s *super *excited about this trip. She wants to do both the pre-cruise excursion in the Loire Valley and the post-cruise stay in Paris, so we’re looking at 2 weeks in France. Pretty much the whole trip is organized and under the direction of tour guides except the last 3 days in Paris. But she and I have both been to Paris before and I speak French - not great, but I can communicate - so we should be fine.

It is going to be a tad pricier than I’d expected, with the two extra trips, but I think I can still manage it for $7500 and I have a year and a half to save for it. OK, not exactly - it has to be paid for by 31 May of this year, but still, I can budget over the next year and a half to put it all back into savings. So yay! And we can fly out of BWI, which is most convenient. Honestly, the only part I’m not looking forward to would be flying. I’m thinking Melatonin will be involved.

Anyway, I’ve now got something to look forward to. Yay! It almost makes it worth it to turn 60!

Yeah, but French waiters…If you say, “Je voudrais que le canard”, he will say, “Do you want the duck, Mac?” and if you politely ask in English, he will say, “Je ne parle pas anglais.”

I got on quite well when I was in Paris back in '83. I ordered dinner just fine, explored via walking and the Metro, and I even got tickets to the ballet. Of course, then I was just 10 years since French class. Now it’s 40 years… I don’t care - I can do it. Because I’m nice, dammit!

I wish I could go to France. I know French very well.
