Merry Christmas! I’ve been bouncing around, housing-wise, and the stress has relented enough that posting feels like a fun idea. With a determination to worry another day, I’m enjoying the holiday with a brand new friend and planning an activity for a soggy Christmas day. Movies and cooking sound like just the ticket.
I think my sister had pin worms when she was around four years old. It was fascinatingly horrible, but then, I didn’t have 'em or have to treat them! Good luck and non-wormy thoughts to all. See? I’m excellent at gift giving. I mean; nobody’s going to return luck and non-worminess…
I’m soon off to let out piddle pup and feed haunted house cat. Then back to clean up and get ready for family celebration. Then back home to irk, irk, irk.
Getting ready to go out is so much fun when you have 6 people, two bathrooms and not enough water pressure to go around.
The weather today shall truly sucketh. Rain and tstorms. Tornadoes. Plague. Pestilence. Ok, maybe not plague and pestilence but rain and tstorms on a two and a half hour drive home are pretty bad. On the plus side it’s warmish. 59 Amurrkin in Ye Olde Hometowne as I post with a predicted high of 64. A few degrees warmer in south Jawja where I’ll be headed late afternoonish but still rain and tstorms all the way. Woo and Hoo.
Had a great time at sis’s and bil’s last night. I like seein’ his family and we had good eats consistin’ of finger food stuff.
Someobody <insert angelic face here> got into the German chawklit cake and pee-kahn pie at mom’s yestiddy. How gauche! I can’t imagine who would have done such a thing!
Ok, I need to get goin’ on some stuff here at mom’s and Frank’s.
Weird. Can’t even imagine a workplace without food brought in from time to time.
Those are indeed most wonderful gifts, Ashes. Welcome back. Hope you have a good day!
We’ve had cinnamon crescent rolls (added cinnamon sugar before rolling them up) and are awaiting diminished grumpiness in the teenager (he stayed up too late) before we get to present opening.
I didn’t sleep enough either. Maybe I’ll take a nap?
When I was still in Florida, our office had “Snack-a-Day” in the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. On Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays, people would sign up to bring in food to share. Offerings ranged from cookies to hot breakfast casseroles and just about anything else you could imagine. By the third week, we were getting pretty sick of it, but every year, we did it again.
At my current place of employment, people leave various and sundry goodies in the downstairs kitchen. I found out about it from people coming upstairs and saying “There’s donuts downstairs!!” or some such. I even brought in a cake one day, cause I’m nice, dammit! For a little company, they sure end up with a lot of food for foragers…
Waidaminnit… If the Blue-and-White is for Jews, then the Green-and-Red is for Muslims, right…?
So, what about the Christians? And the Hindus and the Pagans and the…
Waffles have been eaten, presents unwrapped and wrapping and ribbons picked up and disposed.
Now it’s time to clean the kitchen and in about three hours I’ll put the roast in the oven. At 17.46 pounds, it’s going to take a little time to roast.
MiL loved her prezzie; really nice soft robe and jammies; my son liked his prezzies and stocking stuffers (he got his big present the other day); and my husband loved his slippers (he got his big present last week).
I liked my prezzie from my son which was a cover for my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. My daughter gave me my presents on Saturday and I really liked those too.
Well, off to clean the kitchen because guests will start arriving around two-ish.
A very Happy Christmas to all! EmilyG, that is a beautiful arrangement of Winter Wonderland, thank you for sharing!!
We had the eye of round roast that I roasted in the oven at 500 degrees and then turned the oven off for 2 1/2 hours - I wasn’t that impressed with it, to be honest. The meat was not tender, unfortunately, and that was what I wanted most. I am going to try to find a small rib roast (or maybe snag a piece of N.O.T.'s ;)) to try to sate my need for a nice piece of tender roast beef! Today we’re having turkey breast with cornbread stuffing, etc. I’ve already made up the stuffing and boy does it taste good!! Quality control and all you know. Sweet potatoes are roasting even now, so the fixing is well under way. We didn’t exchange gifts, but I got my daughter a new bag earlier this month. My Dad, bless him, sent me some money and I’ve ordered a few clothes for myself - a dress, a top and some slacks. I’ve been trying to call him, because two of my brothers and their wives/significant others are there with him today and will be lunching with him in just a little bit - so far, the line has been busy! One brother did call already this morning - he’s making rounds today and has several other places to visit after Dad’s! He got an Italian fish feast for Christmas Eve and it sounded like he really enjoyed it (my SIL is Italian-American).
I hope and pray that all are healthy and able to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing holiday time with family and friends. Again, a very happy holiday season to all!
I am wearing shorts right now but we will drop 40 deg f and into freezing temps by tonight its the Chrismapocalypse oh no! Did I mention we may have TORNADOES!
