June, no, NOTHING! (Monthly Mini-Rants)

I probably have ADHD (was never diagnosed or anything, but my daughter was diagnosed with it and almost every sign of it in her is something I share). In my case I tend to get focused on work itself, a lot. I won’t realize that I haven’t eaten until I’m starving and getting dizzy, for example.

It doesn’t help that with the work I do, I’m often inundated with one person after another coming to me for help, sometimes simultaneously, and I’m running around like crazy trying to take care of everything in a timely fashion. And so my own needs get forgotten.

Peeing in a cup, however, is a decision. It’s not something you do without realizing it. It’s a deliberate act. I get that ADHD can influence decision-making (I really do) but still, I don’t think ADHD on its own would lead someone to doing something so bizarre, gross, and frankly irrational.

Which doesn’t change at all what @Spice_Weasel said.

I’m a guy. I can’t speak to or for women ( they have very very different body parts and tend to never dip them into bottles of toxic waste. ).

That said, Your Mamma Never Told You Not to stick your Peen into those, Piss Boy !?
What do the guys who deal with your recycling think of you…?
Is your comic book super hero name “Mr. Ammonia” ?
Do the people who play poker across from you have to smell that?
Do you hit all the buttons on the elevator because you’re filling a really really big cup?

I think she was talking about the intense hyperfixation part being related to ADHD, not the pissing into a cup part.

Correct.

I paid my two main credit cards this morning, knowing one was due tomorrow, the other on the 12th…

Close to five hours later I get reminders from BOTH that I need to make my monthly payments or get charged with the usual nonsense penalties and interest and etc.

Sheesh-don’t these website subroutines EVER talk to each other? Yeah I know the confirmations I got back say that the payments are “pending”, but how hard can it be to program a check before spewing pointless emails into my inbox?

Just a reminder that this is last month’s thread and a new one started a week ago.

My June rant is people who can’t post in the right month’s thread.

… for Broadcast?

I’ll second this one since we’re now a week into the new month. Even the idiot delivery driver I had to spend ten minutes on the phone with to get him to my address today can find his way better than that.

My excuse is that I indeed did a visual scan for the new thread, and didn’t see the tag at the end because it was quite a bit longer than it usually is (with all the de rigeur fluff at the start).

You know, just a thought:

For the weekly MMP, we have an MMP tag. If you want, we could create a Monthly Mini-Rant tag that posters can use when they start the new thread each month. When you click on the tag, it would bring up only Monthly Mini-Rant threads, making it easy to find both old and new threads.

Is there interest in this?

Seems like a very good idea to me.

I think so, too. It’s just another search tool that helps posters find what they’re looking for. I’ll go ahead and create it. We can always delete it if it causes any problems.

That’s so crazy, it just might work.

Since people like posting in last month’s thread so much, I say let’s resurrect October 2023’s discussion of Drama Queens on Cell Phones Wandering Around Costco, the IllumininatiBot, and Dachshund Skeletons (“hollow weinies”, I assume).

I have no idea what a tag is nor how to use it. Is there a FAQ I can read somewhere?

When you start a new thread, adjacent to the right of where you can select which forum you want to use, you will see a place to choose “Optional Tags”. If you start to type the name of a tag, such as “monthly”, the tag will pop up. Select it and proceed.

If you’re browsing the forum and you want to only see monthly mini-rants, click the tag for any thread title that contains that tag and all monthly mini-rant threads with that tag applied will turn up.

Hope this helps!

ETA: I’m not sure we’ve outlined how to use tags anywhere in our FAQ. If I find such a reference, I’ll come back and link to it.

This helps tremendously! Thank you for taking the time to type it out.
