some old friends return.

It will take some doing to reverse the idiocy of the last one.

I think the Jurassic World movies do a good job of being competent and entertaining hollywood blockbusters. No more than that, but at least they succeed in that, which plenty of big-budget movies don’t. They’re miles better than, say, one of the Transformers movies. Combine that with dinosaurs (dinosaurs!) and I’ll be happy to watch this movie on HBO some time.

There’s an animated TV series called Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. It’s about kids who were taken to the island to be a part of a special palaeontology educational trip, but then the events of the first two Jurassic World movies go down and they are left abandoned there, presumed dead.

It’s an okay bit of entertainment, even if the plots are frustratingly plotted to force them into crisis after crisis, and the kids haven’t learned the most basic of survival skills like carrying food, weapons, keeping to safe spots, or driving vehicles to get to places - six months have passed and they’re still cluelessly wandering around (wearing the same clothes) hoping they will be rescued like a random miracle.

Anyways, my point is, you can’t write a Jurassic Park story without a lot of very stupid stuff needing to occur. If you apply logic to the storylines, they can’t work. Basically, humans have weapons and vehicles and structures with strong walls and even basic survival skills, and so should be able to beat dinosaurs in the same way they avoid being trampled by hippos or eaten by lions. But that’s not a fun movie, so those go out the window.

I’m a little disappointed in this one because that’s what I expect from A Jurassic World movie but this one was kind of tame in terms of Dinosaur fights and humans being stalked by dinosaurs. I think their focus got lost with the idea of reuniting characters and creating new ones when they needed more fight choreography and animation. It wasn’t awful or anything like that, good general family fare I guess, but if they want to continue the series they need to breathe new life into it somehow.

Don’t know if this needs to be spoilered. I don’t find the concept of a future with humans sharing the planet with dinosaurs to be credible. We aren’t doing well sharing it with the animals we have now. A few dinosaurs in zoos and preserves, but we’ll slaughter wild dinos wholesale out of fear.
