It’s remarkably easy when you’re in a pub and you happen to know that Wyre Piddle is a place! Yes, it’s true, we like to give our villages silly names and then make them well-known for something.
ETA: First on 5 and got here before Nooner this time…
But we do nibble. If you like it. If you don’t, please let us know before you step into That Room.
I wonder if the idiot in question plays WoSW. There is a much-loved level 40 Druid spell called Innervate, which doesn’t do what the word means: it refills the mana of casters who are in the same party as the druid, thus allowing previously-tired mages and healers to go on shooting fireballs and healing. It’s often typoed as enervate. There are Korean-language servers (which means there are enough Korean players to justify the expense of translation), but since he’s an ESL teacher, I imagine he’d play in English.
Yesterday was brutal… I had four classes and a discussion section. Diff Eq, Technical Writing, Statistics, and Mechanics of Materials, plus Statistics discussion… Ugh, brain-ache for the loss. On the bright side, dinner at the dining hall was surprisingly good. I had ham in honey glaze, turkey in dijon sauce, roasted corn on the cob, grilled asparagus, coleslaw, potato salad, Thai peanut noodle salad, BBQ chicken flatbread pizza, sausage pizza, and for dessert, two chocolate brownies buried in three scoops of cookies 'n cream ice cream. I was fat… But happy.
(Disclaimer: I am not actually fat, I’m 6’ and 156lbs. My metabolism lets me eat anything that is not nailed down or able to outrun me, and never gain weight.)
Of course, I had to text LilBro about my epic dinner too, cuz he’s still back at home and does not have access to all-you-can-eat tastyness… snickers
After seven hours of classes and stuffing my face I carried myself back to my bedroom, laid down in bed, and passed out for three hours, then got up and played Civ IV from 9pm to 3am because I am an irresponsible person.
I have no classes today, so I didn’t get out of bed til 11:30. Once upright, I got mehself all purtified and now I’m back online. I forsee a sub from the on-campus sub shop in the near future… Hmmm, what flavor? Chicken-Bacon-Ranch? Buffalo Chicken? Roast Beef? Cheesesteak? So many choices…
I took Differential Equations twice, and dreamed of trigonometric substitution. I was frustrated that I couldn’t remember the dream to see if they were valid.
My Mechanics of Materials prof was from Hungary and sounded like Bela Lugosi. There was a Surveying course in that classroom, and I always sat next to a box of stakes.
I have arrived at my secret vacation destination (I imagine I’ve mentioned what it is along the way; but it’s fun to pretend at least). Kinda. I’m at the public library right now because it’s quiet, so I can get more done.
3 hours and 15 minutes till the first mini-MMPfest. Yes, there will be pictures.
Well, gotta get some actual work done cuz I promised I would…
Moonie, I don’t envy you that course load. Those were some of my least favorite classes. Well, actually I kind of liked Diff Eq because I had a good professor and it was a small class of probably about a dozen students, but the subject matter was a bitch. And stats just sucks, period. Bleh.
Now that we have DirectTv, I’m starting to remember fondly, those days of my mother watching the game shows and talk shows in the morning. Now we’ve got the Hallmark channel.:rolleyes:
I think it’s about naptime here. See you all later.
Awww… my absence was noticed? Colour me all warm and fuzzy inside.
I’m hoping things will finally calm down. It’s just been a perfect storm of work, suburban commuting, Mumsy Dearest visit and wrangling of contractors, all with a heaping helping of Teh Sick just for the hell of it.
However, as of 3pm this afternoon, I can officially say that the workload is back to normal for now, the meetings in the 'burbs have wrapped up, Mumsy Dearest has gone home, we finally found a contractor to come build our deck for a reasonable price (and he started today!), and Teh Sick is in full retreat.
The new deck is exciting, Muppet. And as nice as it is (heh) to have family visit, it’s also always nice to see them leave. Glad things will go back to normal.
Hope LiLi’s move is going well and that we’ll see her back soon too.
Why does Don Wanna have to bring a big ol’ load of guilt when he comes to visit?
Howdy Y’all! I survived day one of boooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrin’ trainin’. I have come to the conclusion that, what ever will be the cause of my eventual demise, it won’t be boredom cause I’da keeled over about 1:30 this afternoon if that were goin’ to be the cause. Seriously. I got lectured. I went on line and took a test. I made a hunnert. I got lectured. I went on line and took a test. I made a hunnert. I got lectured… lather, wash, rinse, repeat ad nauseum.
**Bobbio **- regarding V-wife’s alternate plans for the weekend - I bet you could take her best of 5 falls…
Moonie, may I just say that I’m glad I don’t have to feed you. Doggone, boy!!!
**kai **- bebbeh pics?!?!?
**swampy **- I had training, too, for out new on-line objectives and evaluation program. Stupid thing about it, tho, it’s done on the unclassified net, so we can’t mention any of our classified works. And pretty much everything we do is classified. Writing up the evaluations will be, um, challenging? Interesting? A pain in the ass?? Probably.
We went over and checked out daughter’s classroom this afternoon - it looks wonderful!! She just inherited a full case of microscopes! How cool is that!?!?! She’s now got to find lessons that will use them. And she met all but one of the kids in her homeroom, so she’s excited about that, too. I suspect she’s going to have a great year.
We met the lead teacher for the 5th grade - she’s a hoot, and she lurves our kid! She also lurves **FCD **for making the lab tables. Cracked me up!
After, we went to have dinner at a seafood joint, and now we’re home chilling. I’m thinking I’ll cut out early tomorrow. We shall see. TGI (almost) Firday!
I have been enduring the week from hell at work. Every time I think I can move on to the next thing on my plate, something comes up with a previous project.
I should have stayed late at work again, but I am so burned out, that it would have been useless for me to stay.
We had a message on our machine from my son’s place of employment. The message stated that he was supposed to be at work this morning and he was considered “no-show; no-call”, which is a bad thing. The problem with this is that my son is 16 and has started school. By law, he’s supposed to be at school, duh! He’d already talked to his manager about his schedule, but apparently, word didn’t get out to the rest of management. At any rate, he called them back, and found out that it was already taken off his record, because his manager informed the idiot that called my son they couldn’t penalize him because by law, he’s supposed to be at school.
I don’t even know if the above made any sense. I’m so tired that nothing makes any sense.
