Well, it’s the last of August. 2/3 of 2009 is gone!!
Who stole the year??
Really MOOOOOOM where has this year gone. I cannot believe it’s September already.
I get to go to training Thursday and Friday. YAWN So, instead of goin’ into work at 6 a.m., as usual, I go in at 8 a.m. then, on Tuesday of next week I get to do it again because it’s three days of training. So, in the three days between Friday and Tuesday, I get the chance to forget everything I learned on Thursday and Friday.
Ok, goin’ to beddy bye now. Wake up time comes early.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
'Ullo, all. Just checking in. Hello to the newbies, too.
Sorry to hear about the swine flu, the stoopid bastards at the insurance company, the moving pains, the teen separation pangs, new job awfulness, the boring/hellishly busy days at work and dads being sick.
Did I cover everyone?
Today was lovely here, but I wasted most of it sleeping. I hate when I fall back to sleep on a day off and end up waking up at noon. I did manage to get most of my errands run, the last one being the application of a Holter monitor for yours truly. I am now the Bionic Woman (or so I am pretending). The irony? I haven’t had ONE palpitation since it was applied.
Off to fold laundry and decide which health insurance plan I’m going with at my new job. I start (officially) on Wednesday. Eek.
::Plugs ears::
LA LA LA LA LA LA LA I can’t hear you!!!
Oh, man, Pie! I can’t say it’s surprising, given the previously reported idiocy, but really, do they have to be the worst possible employer in the state?
Welcome, newbies and intermittent Mumpers!
Hi Spaz!
Good luck with the move, LiLi! The packed cats made me laugh. (As did your Pearls before Swine link, Bobbio).
There was more, but I need to eat and then get some stuff done that I promised my brother, so read rigs’s list and pretend it was from me.
Hugs to all.
Back later…
GT
Bleh! Long day at work and the rest of the week promises to be longer.
Wow, Pie, I hope things get squared away.
Good luck with the move, Li-Li.
I hope they can figure out what’s happening with your Dad rebo. I also hope he listens to the doc.
I came home with the idea that I was taking my son to the mall, but he informed me that he has way too much AP homework. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. School starts on Wednesday, and tomorrow he has to be at the school most of the day because he’s got some training and teambuilding exercises for what they call “Jag Crew”. He’s going to be escorting the sophomores and their parents around on the first day of school, answering their questions, etc.
Well, I guess I don’t have much else going on. I’m just tired, I guess.
Another day, another dollar. I got my custom bowling ball, only $78, and 30 minutes waiting. Gordie fears it.
: shakes Venus awake :
FCM, Nelly whizzed on the bed today. They coordinate so much, you’d think they had a mind meld going.
Hope they find out what’s wrong with your dad, bRebo**.
Go get 'em, Pie!
LiLi, I feel like duct taping my zoo in a box, sometimes.
Oui.
Hope you keep getting better, gotti.
I have a killer sinus headache. Now, usually for something like this, I make hot tea, take drugs and soak in a tub (amazing what ills that combo cures, btw). I can’t do the bath thing because of this stupid Holter monitor. Grrrrrr.
I plan on pouting the rest of the evening about it. Bah.
How long do you have to wear it, **rigs? **
Good thoughts for Rebo and Pie.
It’s a beautiful day outside, boo. Had a mundane little sulking fit the other night because Irish boyfriend said he’d make dinner tonight, then later made a drinking date with a friend and told me he probably wouldn’t be in when I got home, sorry about that, I can leave something for you to warm up when you get back. I can get my own dinner then, thanks for nothing. :dubious: He’s meeting the dude at 3 and I don’t get him until 8, you’d think 3-4 hours would be enough time to get properly drunk. Grumble.
If you want to do something right, it takes time.
I, of course, would rather cook with/for my Beloved and drink a little with her.
nighttime blurf
Heh. To be fair, it’s a friend he hasn’t seen for a few months. I’m being a baby, I know. I was just looking forward to coming home after a long day at work to dinner and a boyfriend.
Maybe I’ll just bake cookies instead.
ETA: hi rosie!
btw, Haze, your guy is a cutie - love the photos
eta - but why does he have such a thing for his feet?
I am now sitting listening to the intro dvd loop music for the 200th time for The Sword in the Stone as I am too lazy to get out of my chair (and disturb Gizmo) and go over and turn it off. Soon I will be heading off to bed. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll gather the rest of the paperwork that we need and be able to start the ball rolling.
Thanks. I dunno about the feet thing - I just explain away all his oddities by saying that he’s Irish.
I am such an idiot. There’s something that I wanted to do tomorrow and I completely forgot about it because of this thing with my mom. Now it’s probably too late.
Today has been slow, lazy, and unproductive, and therefore made of awesome and win. After dragging my tail out of bed at 8:45AM (the ass-crack of dawn as far as I’m concerned) to go to the dining hall for a good hot breakfast - which consisted of eggs, hashbrowns, pancakes with sugared blueberries in their own juice, a donut, fruit salad, and chocolate milk - I ended up hanging out and talking with friends I haven’t seen since last semester for a bit, then headed back to my room. After a bit of lazing about, I fired up a LAN game of Civilization 4 via a Hamachi proxy server and proceeded to beat my roommate Alex’s German empire into oblivion with a massive fleet of Galleons loaded with an even more massive army of rocket-wielding Mongolians. God I love that game.
After that, there was a brief meeting for residents of my apartment building to go over the basic rules, such as “no smoking in the rooms or near the buildings” and “please don’t be a colossal ass”. Wasted 10 minutes of my life but oh well. Afterwards Alex and I were going to go to the dining hall, but it was closed, which was OK because there was a big (and free!) cookout with hotdogs and burgers and fruit and corn and baked beans and potato salad and THE ABSOLUTE WOST COLESLAW MANKIND HAS EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO ACCIDENTALLY UNEARTH FROM THE BOWELS OF HELL. Everything else was tasty, and did I mention free? Oh, and they had free cotton candy too. Score! I spent the duration of the picnic chatting and hanging out with half a dozen friends, including the cute girls from next door, and talking to one freshman who came up and started talking to Alex 'n me because we “looked cool”. We ended up talking about his faith for a bit - he’s Jewish, although not very strict and mostly part of the faith because of his parents - and I had a bajillion questions to ask because I’ve never met a real-life Jew before. I know we have some Jewish Mumpers but I haven’t met you irl so you don’t count!
After the picnic it was back to the room for a bit, then Alex and I headed down to a (FREE!) event called Big Crazy Fun Night where you could eat (FREE!) food and play (FREE!) carnival games such as the Hammer Smash, ring toss, get-the-ball-in-the-hole, and that one game where you roll a ball uphill by spreading a pair of metal bars apart, to win tokens you could redeem for silly prizes. I rocked the ball-uphill game and won enough tokens to redeem for four little tiny palm-sized plushie animals. I woulda gotten some awesome hats but they were out of the awesome hats. Oh well, my new 3" long fox plushie is cute; the lot of them are sitting on my printer at the moment. Then I put the fox plushie on my head and walked back to my room, and now I’m here.
Oh, and as FCM said, the weather here was/is GLORIOUS today and it’s been an absolute joy to be outside and be comfortable and not feel like I’m about to drown in the humidity.
All days should be like today, now that I think about it.
Man, I really suck at the whole “concise” thing, don’t I?
Anyway, I have read every post. Appropriate emotions and inappropriate advances to all depending on your circumstances; I’m too lazy to post individualized responses for the lot of you.
scampers off
I love reading your posts, Moonie - thanks for making me laugh! Woo hoo for the new fox plushie too.
Hugs for CutiePie and her mom, and good luck too.
Get well thoughts sent to Gotti and DH.
One down, four to go … I don’t have anything else to say about today other than that I’m glad it’s over.
For the record, FCM, I knew that someone needed an offering of chocolate, I just couldn’t remember who. How about one of those new gour-may chipotle chocolate bars? I’ve had a raspberry chipotle and a blueberry chipotle, and I’m not quite sure how I feel about them yet. Might as well ask an expert, right?
I thought that this was my last week of vacation, but my boss was back from her medical leave today so i went in early. It sucks to lose a little bit of productive time, but I’m delighted to get to see her again, and as someone else in the office said, “having her back makes the office feel whole again.” I also can’t complain too much because, while I will be working more, I pretty much get to set my own hours and can work from home when I like. I know, right? My job rocks.
This is college life these days???
