Just Because I Can... Starting The MMP Early

Good morning!

I’m not at work today so I can go to the doctor with Dad. He has a lot of edema (swelling) in his feet, and he’s worried the doctor might put him in the hospital. Poor guy - I’m there for moral support and translating, since he can’t hear worth a hoot.

I might go to work this afternoon if we get back soon enough.

Ta!

Does he have heart trouble? Best wishes for both of you.

Moving tomorrow. Running now.

Thanks rosie! You’ll get there. Old Navy’s fairly inexpensive and their plus sizes tend to run a size big, at least from my experience. This conversation made me think of something that you might like. I’ll email it to you over on facebook as soon as I get done here. BTW, I can tell that you’ve lost weight just by looking at your profile picture over there.

Perhaps Buca and I got off on the wrong foot. TVMan and I went to the one at Station Square in Pittsburgh and were not impressed. Specifically because the portion sizes were terrible and are server was just plain weird. She sort of reminded me of Paula Poundstone which is ok if she’s on Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me, but not so good if she’s there in your face making uncomfortable personal comments. And, looking back on it, this part’s really strange. The reason that we didn’t leave hungry was because a large table of people nearby had left half of a sheet cake untouched and she brought it over and gave it to us.:dubious: Ok, so much for that trip down memory lane.

Yay! Iffy is the nickname I secretly give myself because it sounds like Effie, which is a cool name and reminds me of “here is little Effie’s head”.

Dolores, I hope your dad is ok. Much better to get it looked at than to simply hope it goes away, though, so it’s good that he’s willing to go with you/ let you accompany him. My father-in-law recently had significant edema in his legs, and wouldn’t have gone to the hospital if it weren’t for my husband dragging him there and sitting in the ER with him all night. They ended up catching a pretty nasty heart condition before it did too much damage, and with dietary adjustments and a bit of surgery he is now feeling far better than he had for months, if not years.

I’ve got a bad cold, everything we own is in boxes except for the computer (including the cats. If you put enough duct tape on the outside you can’t even hear them :D) and we’re almost done.

Pizza and collapsing tonight.

You must have read Pearls Before Swinetoday.

I have once more returned unto the hallowed halls of Academia, having moved into my on-campus apartment at UMBC yesterday. My bedroom is tiny, but I like it; a bit of fussing with the furniture, and a couple prints and posters for decoration, ind it’s actually kinda nice. Plus I’m on the first floor this year - no stairs, yay. That made it a lot easier to move all my stuff in from the car.

I’ve already run into quite a few friends and acquaintances even though classes haven’t started yet; I know more people down here than I realized. And, I know the four girls who are rooming right across from us, so that can’t be anything but good. Especially since a couple of them are cute. Other than that, not too much is new. I’ve noticed a few improvements to the campus - new crushed stone linings in drainage ditches, grass planted where it needed to be planted, and the dining hall has been totally revamped. The apartments got new mattresses on the beds, too, and my bed is comfortable enough to discourage getting ANYTHING done. So, overall, life at school as good so far. We’ll see how that verdict holds up once the work starts, though!

Greetings to all the new MMPers - Venus, Iffy, PC, Ruby, and anyone I missed when I skimmed the thread!

Do drunkenness here, either. Yet. I’m sure there will be in the next few days.

So, that’s an invitation for physical contact?

Hope it’s nothing serious! Best wishes for your dad.

And since they’re cat’s, it doesn’t even matter which way up you throw the box!

Have an easy and uneventful move

Rebo prayers and good thoughts headed ReboDad’s way.

Good luck with the move LiLi. Better you than me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Moonie I’ve been known to go all parental on folks who slack on their schoolwork. Just ask Haze and rigs. I trust we will not have to have discussions of this nature, young man. :dubious:

I put some carrots and N.O.T. in with the pot roast a bit ago. It’s smellin’ all yummerific like. I met ol’ y’all know who for lunch at Long John Silver’s. Yeah, we’re class all the way. Know what though? Their fish tacos ain’t too shabby. There was actually, dare I say it, flavor to 'em!

I feel a nappypoo comin’ on.

Later Y’all!

Hello, I have returned. I’ve been mad busy the last month and a half so I needed to cut back on intarwebs time.

So what’s been up with me? I’m finally getting the hang of work (front desk clerk at a hotel if you didn’t know/can’t recall), I had a Discussion with one of the Assistant General Managers (AGMs) about the constant stream of criticism that was getting on my nerves and that’s been dealt with (although I fully expect to have another dose today because of something I did over the weekend–just a minor bob in the day), we’ve entered a slow period this week which will last until Friday when the Labor Day tourists come in, I can’t apply for a substitute position yet because my teaching license is expired, I may be able to be a tutor/mentor but that depends on a meeting I have tomorrow that I need to remember to put into my phone to remind me, and Cute Coworker got promoted to AGM and moved to a different hotel so now the night shift is boring because I have no one to talk to.

pant pant

Also I’m making inquiries about buying the empty lot next door to Irish Brother’s house and putting a trailer on it. I need a place of my own. Need. Desperately. Petercat is doing very well–he’s put on some weight and his coat is glossy again. It’s because he has other cats to play with again. I’m doing well without all the stress of living in the House of the Roommates back in Greenville and now it’s time for me to get dressed for work. Laters, Mumpers!

We’re alive, but not necessarily well. Our fevers seem to be gone, but we’re still coughing like mad - my ICU nurse neighbor just called to see how we’re doing and mentioned that she knew we were still at least somewhat sick because she could hear us.

Still going on the working diagnosis of H1N1 “Swine” flu, based on the symptoms and timing - it’s definitely flu, rather than just a cold, and of the flu that the doctor has seen so far this year, it’s all been swine. Lucky us.

At least the mania and hysteria has died down - a month or so earlier, we probably would have been getting mentioned on the evening news.

The next time I get onto the [del]incubator[/del] train, I want to be armed with cans of Lysol, and spray everyone who gets near me.

Glad to see there’s a little improvement in how you and DH are feeling, gotti.

Welcome to the newbs.

I’m basically just buzzing by and wouldn’t normally be posting during the workday, but I just had to stop and take a lunch.

I’m having an incredibly crappy day. Everything that can go wrong, has gone wrong. Reports that I should have done NLT 10:00 this morning took until 11:00. This doesn’t include the reports that I should have had done by 8:00. I couldn’t even touch those until I put these other two out. Now, I’ve got several more. I hope I get them all done, but somehow, I don’t think I will.

Bleh! Why couldn’t I have been one of the Mega Millions winners?

Okay, the wah-wahing is over now. You continue on with your regularly scheduled MMP.

Evening all. It’s still Ramadan, it’s still hot. Nothing else to see here. Move along …

What a bunch of fucking bullshit!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

And I don’t think I can even mention it publicly but suffice it to say that the crap being pulled by my mother’s company has been ratcheted up another notch. In about two minutes from now she’s going to be calling a certain legal representative body and trying to get this crap handled. I am so angry I can’t even think straight. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, I CANNOT believe these people.

Wow, Pie! I knew they sucked from your other posts. I hope y’all nail their figurative balls to the wall! {{{Pie and Mom}}}

Thanks for all the good wishes for Dad. The doc ordered blood tests, urine tests, and a chest x-ray. And a colonoscopy. (Dad has been constipated quite a bit for a long time.) We’re finally home, and he has another appt on thursday with the GI guy. The doc said he has been trying to get Dad to have a colonoscopy for years! I’m glad I went - Dad has a tendency to not do what the doctor orders him to, plus he can’t handle the logistics of going here for a blood test, over there for the chest xray, setting up the appt with the GI doc - and on and on. Plus he has to smoke in between all this!

No, he doesn’t have a heart condition, VBob. The doctor is worried about kidney function. Also, while we were eating cheap Chinese, Dad mentioned that he’s having trouble emptying his bladder completely. This was AFTER seeing the doctor, of course. I swear, it’s like pulling teeth…

Happy Monday! Greetings, all you brand-new Mumpers! MMP bylaws state explicitly that you have to send me love offerings of fine chocolates. No cheap generic crap, either. It’s a burden upon me to accept them all, but I comply because it’s a rule and rules exist for a reason. So get them love offerings on the way. And welcome!

It’s a glorious 71°F here, and we’re not supposed to see 80-ish again till the end of the week. Upper 50s tonight - that’s *gooooooooooood *sleepin’! And I need some. Right about 0430 today, a certain soon-to-be-fileted-kitteh decided it would be appropriate to pee on my shoulder. Honest-to-goodness, I don’t know what gets into him. This isn’t a regular thing, so I don’t think it’s an infection. We’ve been meticulous about keeping the litter box scooped, so it’s not that. He spent yesterday evening in laps, including mine, so it’s not about feeling neglect. I think he’s just Teh Evul…

What else? I got nothing. Just loving the weather. And wondering how much abuse swampy’s liver can take…

Had lunch at Go Go China, which has moved where Arby’s used to be, and the washer gets deliv…

Humh?

Sorry, I keep falling asleep in this threa…

Evenin’ Y’all! Dindin was indeed yummerific. I grilled some corn on the cob to go with the pot roast. MMMMMMMMM…

CutiePie you and mom sic 'em good!

gotti glad DH and you are feelin’ better.

Rebo I’m sure they’ll find the root of Rebodad’s problem. Don’t forget to mention the bladder thing to the doc. I’m sure the info will be useful. But you know that.

Everybody else, yay, boo, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies, how you doin’s as needed.

{{{Pie}}} and {{{gotti & DH}}}

We’re not huge fans; this was only the second time ever that I’d been there. But we had a $10-off coupon and a $25 gift certificate (It was the best of a bunch of so-so choices for filling out a survey for my medical insurance. To which we were like… medical ins is giving us a gift certificate to a restaurant with lots of unhealthy food?? :dubious: ) and the friends were cool with going so we went. But probably won’t be going back unless others suggest it. There are far better restaurants around here, many with better prices.

Welcome back **moonie **and spaz! We missed you!
