Just got a bizarre email

Here’s the entire message (I’ve censored email addresses of board members):

The cc: line actually had a lot more addresses, but I deleted the names I didn’t recognize; also I’ve changed the email addresses (which looked legit, BTW) to just the SDMB ID. If an administrator is interested I can try to email the entire email to you, but I didn’t want to post everything on the board. Sorry if the formatting’s messed up; I get my mail through Yahoo (I also have a bunch of mail forwarders set up, so the mail goes through about 3 hops until it actually gets to my mailbox. This is how I trace spam, BTW).

There was no actual message text, just the headers.

Any idea what’s going on?

I think banned is the only thread which contains posts by all of the people to whom the e-mail was sent.

Hey, you asshole e-mailer! I flamed you in that post. What happened? Your “CC” line wasn’t long enough to mail us all? :wally

Well, keep in mind that I completely deleted email addresses that didn’t match the SDMB ID of people I recognized. If your email address matches your SDMB ID, you were not CC:'d.

I just noticed that the TO: line is to a valid address; mods, can you edit the OP? Also, note that the from: line purports to be from an SDMB user, but the address is wrong.

We’ve already got it, thanks. And I’ll amend the line as requested.

Lynn

My e-mail address matches my online name. Nothing to hide here. NOthing in my in-box.

Sheesh! Feeling like Rodney Dangerfield here.

If any of you get these weird emails (or anything else of a troublesome or harassing sort of thing that you believe originates from the SDMB membership)please forward to me complete with all the header information if possible.

That’s TubaDiva@aol.com

Thanks.

Wuncha knowit, the first time I make somebody’s list, it has to be something like this.

OK, now what?

You’re in with the in crowd, I guess.

Cool

But in what?

I know I shouldn’t but…Wasn’t that originally by Proxy Music ?

Just to make it clear, I am waterj2@yahoo.com or waterj2@alum.rpi.edu, and have no affiliation with any sort of bastardazation thereof. It was my email address in the to field, and I really don’t mind it being shown on the boards.

I’m guessing that I don’t need to forward my copy now, as it’s probably already been forwarded (actually, since Lynn Bodoni got a copy of the original, I’m sure the administration has a copy).

In the U.S., Dobie Gray took The ‘In’ Crowd to #13 in early 1965. More details at: http://dvolpin.teleradiostereo.it/InCrowd.txt

You think THAT’S weird, wait 'til I tell ya about the “You May Already Be A Whiner!” message that I got…

okayee, okay, OK, it was just an appalling pun …you know, sending e-mail by a proxy an’ all that malarkey. Yep, that bad.

But you’re right. I actually prefer the earlier version by some way. BTW, those of a wrinkled persuasion might be interested to know of this years Reunion Tour, albeit without the very great talent of Brian Eno.
Anyway, kudos to The Diva for using that phrase rather than the current board fetish for Illumin bollocks ati, or whatever the bloody word is.
