Justice League Unlimited 7/9/2005 - "Panic in the Sky"

The early 90’s X-Men and Spider-Man toons were pretty good, too.

smiling bandit and Mr. Blue Sky, that just may be age bias - the same that is causing me to look back on the really old Marvel 'toons favorably. IMNSHO, they sucked so much that I didn’t watch most of the episodes due to suckage. Horrible stuff, that was. Not quite on a par with Super Friends (which I so much wanted to like) or the Fantastic Four with Herbie, but real bad.

I can watch JLU. Whenever I try to watch X-Men or Spiderman, it loses my interest quickly. As an adult, I’m a lot less forgiving of bad comic book adaptations.

Apache Chief has never been part of JLU. The Ultimen are all tributes to Super Friends who did not appear in DC Comics. (These would be Apache Chief, Samuri, Black Vulcan, and the Wonder Twins. For some reason, they didn’t do El Dorado)

What? The quality of the animation sucked. The dialoge - who the hell talks like they wrote? Not to mention that the voice acting was nowhere near JL/JLU.

That’s SUPERVOLT!

Anyway, Marvel is doing an Ultimates animated DVD. Possibly two if I’m not mistaken. Here’s hoping they aim to match up to the greatness of JLU. I’m a long time Marvel zombie but even I recognize that the 90’s Spider-Man series was tripe. Spidey Super Stories on The Electric Company had more coherance.

Compared to the DC/Marvel stuff up to the mid 80’s, it was Pixar quality. As for the dialogue, it was not unlike the comics at the time.

Watch the early-80’s Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends if you want really bad voice work.

Try looking up the mid-90’s Fantastic Four/Iron Man if you want total toon suckage.

The Big Brain am winning again!, i am the greetest, now i am leaving Earth for no raison!

They should totally beat Brainiac this way. Lacking Fry, we’ll have to settle for some other time-traveller with a robot sidekick. Booster should do nicely. Especially since Skeets has the same Voice Actor as Fry.

Said with tongue very far in cheek.

Not related to the show, but can anyone explain what was going on with the Green Latern morhing during the closing credits?

As for the revelation, I assumed because of the genuinely startled look on Lex’s face that Braniac had somehow implanted himself into Luthor’s body and “grown” his tech throughout, explaining Lex’s burst of strength, like he did with Gear on Static Shock, and that he was subtly influencing Luthor’s mind without him realizing it. (Perhaps Brainac was the “cancer” all along?) This doesn’t answer how he/it was able to do it, but considering his level of tech, I think it’s possible.

That was from the ep “The Once and Future Thing”.

A time-travelling thief keeps changing the timestream. Instead of the current GL, Hal Jordan appears.

It was great, too. They really nailed Hal. “Time distortion. Got it. Up to speed.” And the way he handled Chronos’ wife was fantastic. Empathetic, but stern.

Thanks.

Marvel toons were always meant for kids- Not for discerning and nit picky Comic Book Guys.

I was a teenager when the 90s X-men and Spiderman cartoon were on. Spiderman was strictly for kids. While the fun with Xmen was seeing what characters would make cameos (similar to JLU) and how they’d adapt comic stories for the cartoon. Like combining Bishop’s origin and Days of Future of Past.

Batman and JLU were/are meant to hip and smart for the adult fans while Superman and Justice League were more kid friendly… and also pretty lousy.

Of course not. He’s a comic book writer.

<ducking and running>

Does that explain the casing Lex wore then? To keep Superman from looking inside of him?

At the end of the first Superfriend episode Apache Chief refuses to go with the government and Maxwell Lord and instead remains with the JL.

That was to control/half the spread of the cancer. That’s why he’s not wearing it any more after he’s diagnosed as cured.

Ahh, I thought maybe there was an alterior motive.
