So, how’d you all like the episode? I was kind of disappointed by how bland a character the Atom was. However, I really like seeing the Green Lanterns assemble, so that was nice.
Might anyone inform me as to who that red guy was that generated red cyclones?
So, is the Red Tornado or are they able to re-build him? Did he regularly get blown up in the comic books? I wonder when was the last time the League did a full back up on him?
I was kind of thrown by how Amazo appeared to kill the Red Tornado, too. I’m not exactly an RT buff, but I’ve never seen him sliced in half and blown up like that like it’s no big deal.
I did like seeing all the Green Lanterns (yay, Chaselon!) and I thought the omnipotent Amazo was pretty cool, as was Dr. Fate.
A negative that comes to mind is the way they’re drawing Fire… with her flames becoming like a flaming bikini. Lame.
Well, it was sure nice to see a good old-fashioned Soviet super-soldier (Rocket Red), complete with shoulder-mounted gatling gun on his power armor.
Nice to see Hawkgirl, too. Can’t wait for her complete return, in a few episodes. (Assuming that the producers aren’t just going to taunt us with the possibility, and then keep her on the sidelines indefinately.)
So now who’s the red and white guy who looks sort of like a Soviet Super Soldier except less angular and looks like he’s grinning? He was in the space line of defense.
I still don’t know who the identity of the one who attacked right after (the superhero female) Dr. Light. He was grinning, in mostly grey colors, with a blue “S” in a black oval on his chest, if that helps.
The red-and-white guy with the rockets, the first one to attack after Supergirl falls, was Rocket Red, as Ranchot pointed out.
I don’t know much about the plot(s) they’re following, but what’s the big deal with Hawkgirl returning? They played “teaser music” during her appearance, so I’m sure she’ll play an important role in a soon-to-come episode, but… why?
In a field of flying robots with mind lasers, how does a girl with wings and a mace stand out?
Because of the last few episodes of the original Justice League.
Son’t know if a Spoiler box is actually needed, but can’t hurt.
Hawkgirl’s race, the Thanagarians, come to earth, and take over, claiming it’s for our own good. The JL become outlaws - except for Hawkgirl, who, it turns out, had been sent to earth as a Thanagarian spy. The Thanagarians use her knowledge to take down the League.
Over the course of the story, it’s revealed that the Thanagarians are going to destroy Earth to make way for one of their hyperspace conduits - at which point, Hawkgirl decides to side with the humans over her own people.
It ends with the JL voting on whether to allow her back in - it’s mostly split between people (like Wonder Woman) who don’t trust her any more, and people (like Flash) who understand her divided loyalties, and are willing to welcome her back because she made the right decision in the end. IIRC, Green Lantern got the tiebreaking vote, and he was torn about it. We never get to find out what his vote was, though, because they cut to Hawkgirl and Alfred at that point. Then when they’re about to tell Hawkgirl what they decided, she tells them she’s leaving - the guilt over her part in all this is too much for her.
Doesn’t his ‘consciousness’ just go into the next available Red Tornado android body? It’s been a real long time since I’ve seen any of his story. I thought he became an elemental, but that was years ago.
Where was Booster? If he could have stopped Ivo’s android, then he would have gotten his fame, fortune and six-figure salary.
I’m lost in GL continuity, but I really, really didn’t expect to see Kyle. And the GL Corps were lucky Dr. Fate doesn’t have their ego.
Kyle was introduced as Green Lantern in the original Superman animated series. John Stewart was GL of Section 2814 by the time the Justice League series started, without any explanation of what happened to Kyle. There was a later mention of Stewart having sent Kyle to Oa to train with Katma. But that was about it.
As far as I can tell, neither Hal Jordan nor Guy Garner have ever been a GL, though there was a brief flash of a plane with “Col. Hal Jordan” on the nose during the Superman episode that introduced Kyle as Green Lantern.
