Justified - Final Season [open spoilers]

Have at it, everyone. I asked the mods to mark my thread as OPEN SPOILERS.

Snape Killed Dumbledore!

You bastard.

Dumbledore is Kenny?

The camera lingered on the cigarette pack when Eva was lighting up–I wonder if someone else is going to get blown up like Picker.

This is shaping up to be an ass kicker of a season. I recognized the bad guy as the whore killer from Deadwood (also Jack McCall). So all of the henchmen are former Iraq vets, which means a confrontation with Tim. Choo-choo, indeed.

I was wondering why Ty Walker (the guy played by Garret Dillahunt) was trying to buy up the land (including Raylan’s). My guess is that they want to drill for oil or gas (fracking, in other words). At least the second episode explained what was so valuable about the contents of that safe deposit box; one of the deeds was to a building with a vault in it.

Never a good sign when men arrive at your house, uninvited, with a roll of plastic.

Only if they’re painters.

I don’t usually do the “shipping” thing, but they’re an exception. I love the two of them together and hate watching this going on. And while I know that narratively, it cannot end happily (and that you’re probably right, one will kill the other), I want them to just buy the warmer coats and move to Iceland.
I really, really do.

This is been a really good season so far.

Do you think Boyd knows that Ava is a confidential informant?

He suspects it, and the ledger was a test for her, which she would have failed if Raylan hadn’t warned her about it. He may even be convinced of it and figures he can manage her without killing her.

He suspects. That is why he hid the papers badly in Ava’s barn. He wanted to see what she did with them. He wasn’t convinced when she had them on the car seat, but he seems convinced that she pointed out one of the properties is a former bank. Raylan seemed to know to look out for evidence too easy to find from Boyd, and this seems to me to be why Raylan has the upper hand on Boyd. He’s a bit smarter, a bit physically faster and a bit more unpredictable. That means Boyd is going to have to use Winona and the baby as leverage at some point.

Aha! I just figured out where I know the actor playing Seabass from. He was Sgt. Malarkey in Band of Brothers.

And Will from Party of Five, and Dr. Archie Morris from ER.
Fun bit of trivia (and a follow up to this): the character names Ty Walker and Sean Bass (aka “Sea Bass”) are folks associated with KTCK, “The Ticket”, a radio station in Dallas.

Wasn’t their hallways conversation outside Calhoun’s great? So much unspoken threat.

Some great scenes last night.

Ava was really, really bad at the whole reconnoitering thing. She might as well have just walked in to the pizza joint and shouted “I’m Boyd Crowder’s girl–y’all got a big vault around here?” But at least we got another scene with Choo Choo.

The scenes with Raylan and Rachel and the explosives thieves were fun. Too bad Daddy intervened.

Boyd’s under so much pressure–when he blows up it’s going to get messy.

“What about eggs?”

The dialog this season has really been great. Even if the plot sucked, I’d watch just to hear the way the characters talk.

The only problem with the scene with the would be explosives thieves is that Raylan’s gun was still snapped into his holster while he’s facing down a guy with a gun in his hand. He had his hand on the butt, but even with a thumb release, he’d be hard pressed to get that hog out before the other guy started shooting.

Boyd being meek with Markham was very well done; I was almost convinced that Boyd was going to forgo the money in order to save their asses. Should have know better, of course. It just served to really piss him off.

What’s with the property buying scheme? It seems to have gone away. And what about the old couple that refused to sell? Didn’t we see thugs heading to their house with harmful intent?

That’s Raylands prefered stance - and I think he was counting on his partner (who had gun aimed) to react properly as well.

Somehow, another notch on Rayland’s gun might not be a good thing for him right now.

I knew better as well, but wasn’t sure there for a bit - very well done.

Hasn’t played out - and yes, we did, and its assumed the intent was carried out.
I’m still waiting for Boss Hogg to show up in teh final episode with Roscoe and takeover.
