Markham has to have more troops on the way; otherwise, his staying in Harlan makes zero sense. Nobody will buy from him, the sheriffs are after him, Boyd is after him, and Duffy is after him. Without help, the story is dead in the water. Of course, it could end with all of them in an OK Corral situation, blasting away between Art, Raylan, Boyd and all the rest.
I was kind of surprised, when Raylan called Tim to tell him to tune into the radio, it WASN’T 1310 he told him to tune to (although it was an AM station).
Why has it taken soooo long to finally get Tim in virtually every episode? I’d watch the hell out of a Raylan/Tim buddy cop show after ‘Justified’ ends.
I’m having a bit of a hard time keeping all the threads of the intertwining plots straight this season, but that’s why I keep everything on the DVR.
"I gotta admit there’s a small part of me that’s going to miss this when it’s over.”
Me, I see Ava killing Boyd. She’s learning that he’s as bad as Bowman (if not worse), just in a different way. He has been, bar none, the worst thing that’s happened to her.
Perhaps. Since they’re playing up the lingering chemistry between Ava and Raylan, perhaps Boyd will have the final drop on Raylan and Ava will have to make a choice between good and evil living on in the world. Tight shot on Ava; a shotgun blast, fade to black. Final scene opens in a Florida hospital.
I like Tim too. While catching up on the first three seasons a short while back I read some old threads. There was a scene in a bar where Raylan ran into Tim unexpectedly. Tim was with a guy and one or two posts wondered whether he might be gay. Nothing whatsoever came of that did it?
Nope. Never referenced again, as far as I know. We’ve never seen Gutterson with a man or woman since, although it seemed like he took a long look at a woman this season.
Could someone refresh my memory on Loretta’s recent history?
How old is she now?
How did she come into money?
Sounds like it was Mags Bennett’s money/land. Guess she didn’t leave it to Dickey. Also, I’m sure she got her dad’s land/estate, and has continued selling pot. I’d say she’s supposed to be 16 or 17, since I don’t think she could drive earlier.
I hope that when that asshole comes back that Loretta has left her car in town and is laying in wait and gives him both barrels.
Who was Mary Steenbergen speaking French to after making that big mess in the hotel suite?
I imagined it was Wynn Duffy, douche bag to the hillbilly hoodlums.
nah - his fate is clearly given to Raylan - why else would a ‘gun slinger’ come to town - but I was hoping for Loretta would take him out to his surprise - much like the hotel scene.
Loretta was mentioned as 14 in the episode.
… and was it just the angle or did she lean right up against that blood spatter mess while talking on the phone.
I thought I must have been wrong about her age, but I guess not. How can a 14-year-old, apparently on her own except for Boyd’s thugs, buy property?
This new gunman shows why the series needs to end. He’s a caricature and completely unbelievable, his appearance bordering on a ‘jump the shark’ moment for me. Dialogue between cast members has become stilted and badly written, IMO, and the story line has reached a point where suspension of disbelief is no longer possible.
Perhaps the new gunman shows Avery Markham’s desperation? That he’s reduced to hiring second-rate goons.
Considering how poorly his ‘town meeting’ went, I think hiring a second rate goon is the least of his worries. My speculation is that since they’ve had Raylan tone it down this final season; they’re going to finally give him a little action. Since Raylan is a quickdraw himself, I suspect they’ll have a shoot out; which Raylan will naturally win. I’m kind of ticked off at acting boss Rachel Brooks. Raylan has to tone it down, then she’s pissed off that progress isn’t being made quickly enough. It’s like Raylan can do nothing right.
If I’m not mistaken the ‘second rate goon’ was Jonathan Tucker who was great in The Black Donnellys which wasn’t on the air nearly long enough if you ask me. (A show which also introduced me to Olivia Wilde)
How is she avoiding being in foster care?
She was in for a while - think she got ‘emancipated’ - plus - living in Hazard makes it easier.
(they definitely addressed parts of it in season 3 after Maggs died - she was in lexington)
