"Justified" - new FX series - anyone watch?

She’s his ex-wife. I imagine she has context based on her time with him that the audience hasn’t seen yet.

I don’t know that this series is deep enough (or has enough fans) to warrant a weekly thread.

Anyways, I liked tonight’s episode even better than the first. So far, everything works for me except for the ex-wife, and she’s not as obnoxious as a lot of cop show ex-wives, so maybe that part will be okay too.

I really liked that Raylen spent the night in the convenience store, and that he didn’t do some McGyver crap to get out. I liked Cooper and I liked that his ex still felt something for him. The “not first cousins” line made me chuckle.

Despite the violence, the show is charming and funny. I’m gonna keep watching.

(Probably poorly remembered) “What, he’s going to open a chain of dildo stores?”

Apparently last week’s episode didn’t stick with me very well. Who was the blond at the elevators, and what were they talking about? Who is Gary, and when did our favorite Marshall pay him a visit?

Seth Bullock didn’t seem angry to you? A common criticism of Deadwood was directed at Timothy Olyphant, who many felt was the worst actor on the series because all his character ever did was walk around angry, 24/7. It got to the point where it was hard to remember a single scene in which he wasn’t angry.

“Not just dildos.”

I’m with you AuntiePam. Will continue to watch.

That was his ex-wife and Gary is her current husband. Raylen broke into their house last week, at night. Gary heard a noise and went downstairs to find him just sitting there in the dark. He was scared.

Another character I really like is Raylen’s boss. “If you bite somebody every week in kindergarten, they’re gonna call you a biter”. He’s low-key but not so low-key that he’s a caricature, like some Southern characters.

I took it that Gary is is dad - but I could be wrong.

Living in Ky - where this is set - creates some conumdrums - “East of I-75 on Tates Creek Road” - in Lexington Ky - is simply not possible.

If I can remember to not nitpick - it looks like it will be entertaining.

Gary’s the new husband.

They named his dad this episode and established that he’s in prison.

It’s the husband. IMDB has Winona’s last name as Hawkins, and lists a Gary Hawkins. Do we know what Raylen’s dad’s name is? There’s no listing at IMDB yet for the dad. I’m curious who’ll be playing him – it looks like he might be an important character, as much as people have mentioned him in both episodes.

IMDB is confused about Olyphant’s character’s given name. This page shows at as Raylan. That squares up with this page.

ok - havent seen episode 2 yet - that makes me feel better.

The way the initial scene in the house with the x-wife is set up, I just took it that he went to visit ‘dad’ - cant remember why now.

Me too.

No way did I think that - that house was really nice, and you got the impression earlier that his Dad did not live like that.

Probably because three or four people in the first episode asked Raylan if he’d been to see his dad yet. I think they get some satisfaction from rubbing it in – you’re a US Marshal and your dad’s in prison, neener neener – jealousy for the guy who got out and found some success.

I was a little disappointed in episode 2.

Why?

Can you say what “SoA” is the first time you mention it? I’m curious and yet have no way of figuring out what you’re talking about.

Not sure if you are correcting the behavior (abbreviation w/o clarification) or actually curious, but: Sons of Anarchy.

Sons of Anarchy, I’m pretty sure.

ETA: Jinx!
