Yes, the dead parachuter came from out of the blue.
Raylan’s significant other is actually now his ex-ex significant other (his ex-wife, Winona, who he got back together with until she left him again at the end of season 3). Winona is pregnant with Raylan’s baby. In a nutshell, they love each other but Winona won’t raise a child around Raylan’s lifestyle and Raylan can’t change. His present love interest is Lindsey. He rents a room above the bar she owns.
Well, in my case, the fact that Boyd is keeping the money a secret from Ava makes me think there is going to be some fireworks between Boyd and Ava this season, so maybe the writers just intend for us to wonder what will happen if they turn on each other.
Remember, Johnny is the one who ratted Boyd out for Devil’s murder. Johnny likes Ava. If Johnny finds out that Boyd is keeping money from Ava and knows that would put a wedge between them…
Winona wasn’t in any scenes in this episode, so you haven’t met her yet. When the series started, Raylan and Winona were already divorced. Winona had remarried and her new husband, Gary, got involved in some shady stuff. Winona split with him, was back with Raylan, and then Gary ended up dead in season two.
Gary was killed in season 3 by Quarles and Duffy who then planted the murder weapon in Raylan’s car. It was the gun Raylan told Quarles he could “keep that one” when he took it from him at Limehouse’s slaughterhouse.
If we’re going to talk about past seasons, we should probably use spoiler boxes or give a warning…just saying…
I don’t care about spoilers myself, but some folks get pretty upset about stumbling across them. I wasn’t sure which way things went as there were both boxed and un-boxed in the thread and no warning in the title or OP. Like I said, I don’t care either way, just trying to be considerate.
I thought Oswald was less out of place here than we was in his recurring role on the latest half season of Burn Notice. Having him driving a Gremlin was a bit over the top, surely a Gremlin would be more expensive to upkeep than a crappy mid 90s Saturn or similar, but wouldn’t be as funny, obviously.
Can someone summarize the very end of the episode for me? DVR recording cut off at one hour and I noticed the show time was 10:00 to 11:05. (Hope that isn’t a trend…)
I’ve forgotten already, but I think the last scene was Raylan visiting Arlo in prison, asking him about the bag and the driver’s license. A trusty noticed, questioned Arlo, and Arlo killed him. At least I think he’s dead. Arlo stabbed him in the neck.
I was behind in watching stuff on my DVR so I only saw this episode yesterday. But I think where they’re going with that fugitive and Patton Oswalt’s character is that either or both will blackmail Raylan. Patton’s character (Constable Bob Sweeney) obviously wants to get a real law enforcement job so perhaps he will try to force Raylan to assist him.
I’m really hoping that the sister is behind it all and the preacher is just a patsy. I feel like I’ve seen the preacher/conman character so many times before, so I’ll be a little disappointed if they go in that direction.
I think it will be exactly that - the preacher is a true believer while the sister is the conman - this should prove to be interesting.
Duffy and Boyd - damn, Duffy done grew a set this season - have an understanding - they are not yet partners.
They are definitely taking a stab at teh “Bluegrass Conspiracy” this season - and I loved it when that guy from bowling green got an interview… classic stuff.
I can’t decide if I like or not the bit with the bar maid being married - I’d kinda like to see Raylan deal with an ‘honest’ relationship for a season, but we’ll see how they play it out - I also don’t feel like they have to keep Raylan’s personal life in a constant uproar - there’s enough bad guys to keep up with.
