I liked the husband, Randall. Kinda like Raylan with fists instead of a gun. I hope he will be back. I hope the preacher recovers. He’s good too. Johnny Crowder selling out Boyd would be a mistake. My money is on it being an intentional set up to flush out Duffy, which it already has, as well as any other insiders Duffy has in Boyd’s operation. Johnny knows that Boyd is a lot smarter and more ruthless than he is, not to mention Duffy. Boyd is the star to hitch your criminal wagon to.
Lyndsey knew he had a pile of cash from his moonlighting. She watched with interest as he added to his stash after the fugitive in the trunk was delivered. As a person who professionally has heard every conceivable line of b.s. invented, he should have been on red alert as soon as Lyndsey gave him her back story. I don’t argue that his choices in romantic partners is questionable, but he should have seen it coming.
I do agree with your love of the final snake handling scene. Goggins absolutely sold that scene. You could imagine Boyd losing sleep over how Billy met his end after watching him beg that kid to leave the toolbox closed.
It’s a damn fine show.
It is indeed.
Snake bite is treatable. The question is whether Billy will get it treated either willingly or unwillingly.
at this point - in time - wasn’t none of them calling an ambulance -
Yes, but the only snake in the US that requires attention within minutes is the Mojave Green. These snakes’ venom is deadly to small rodents. Billy got a huge bite on the arm, which is really painful and left untreated might kill him. The thing is with the snake handlers, that they tend to refuse treatment, it being God’s will and all whether they survive.
Timber ( Canebrake ) rattlesnake bites are also survivable untreated. Not that I would recommend such a thing, but untreated mortality is not 100%. Depends a lot on the venom load injected, the toxicity of that particular population, health of the individual bitten, etc..
For those who are interested, creator Graham Yost does post mortems every week on ew.com, and some of these questions are answered definitively (there are also some spoilers so beware!)
I am link challenged, but all you have to do is google “ew Graham Yost” and the name of the episode – this week’s was “Truth and Consequences.”
I agree that Walton Goggins is fabulous so far and also loved seeing him try and talk Billy out of handling the snake. I hope that Lindsey has been taken against her will – it really makes Raylan seem like a dolt to have been played that badly.
Maybe he was disarmed by her honesty. Why did she admit to a grifter past anyway? Just to make him feel stupid? It worked.
See, that was my assumption - that the ex showed up, either threatened her or beat her to make her give him whatever cash she had (including Raylan’s stash), and trashed the room while fighting with her. Or maybe he trashed the room while he was searching for cash. Either way, I didn’t think she was the one who stole the money.
Sauron, good point. Lindsey knew where the money was, so there was no reason to trash the room.
I wonder if it’s possible that he/she/they were looking for something more than the money? Could it be tied into the larger mystery?
Thanks winneee. That was an interesting read. If the show creator says pretty women are Raylan’s kryptonite, I guess I can’t argue.
Whether Lindsey was taken against her will or not, that’s the song she’s gonna sing when Raylan catches up with them. I think trashing the room was just the ex-husband’s way of flipping Raylan the bird. Especially after all his talk about marking the last guy who got between him and Lindsey.
Well, I owe you guys one. I had never heard of this show. I’m watching the first season now, and it’s very entertaining.
Stupid Comcast still doesn’t have the last episode up for viewing. Where can I see it online without paying for it?
These past two episodes were much better than the first two of the season. Guess it took a bit to get back in the groove. Good story arc.
Urgh. Are we finished with the Lindsey story line or not? They left the door open.
I’ve never seen a bean bag gun before, and was shocked when Raylan shot Randall.
I was surprised that Ellen May twigged to her fate. She must be smarter than I thought.
Very clever, how Boyd found out what Ellen May had confessed to Cassie. But I do think Ellen May told Cassie more than what she told Shelby. Cassie would have known about the drugs and whoremongering all along – she didn’t need Ellen May to tell her that. Maybe Cassie noticed the speaker light on Shelby’s phone?
Will Ellen May try to make her way back to Cassie?
I’m glad they didn’t dodge the Raylan/Randall fight, and that Randall would have likely gotten the better of Raylan without intervention. I loved when Raylan shot him with the beanbag round that last time when he was cuffed to the van.
What’s actually surprised me the most is how I thought the first two episodes were setting up the rest of the episodes. New character with Randall… he’s likely done and going to back to FL. Raylan’s hot blonde girlfriend… I suppose we might see her again; but it doesn’t seem likely. The snake charmer preacher… dead. Raylan picking up opportunities to pick up money on the side… he seems to be done with that. I guess we’ll see some of the minor story lines come to light. Johnny Crowder’s betrayal. The mysterious bag story is still hanging out there. Wynn Duffy seems to have more confidence this season than he did last season. It’s coming to light that Colton might be a bit of a fuck up. I hope to see Ellen Mae again. There also seems to be a spark between Raylan and Rachal.
That caught me off guard and made me laugh out loud.
The only thing that bugged me was that he handcuffed him to a van ladder. Those things are flimsy. Or at least the one I used to have was.
