As mentioned in this thread, kabbes will be coming across the pond to New York for a training course later this month.
In hopes of giving him some more useful training than boring work seminars, we’re going to throw a New York DopeDinner in his honor (or at least use him as an excuse for a DopeDinner).
We’re planning for a dinner at 7:00 on Friday, July 25 at Cowgirl Hall of Fame, 519 Hudson St (at West 10th), 1/9 to Christopher Street. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Cowgirl HOF, it’s known far and wide for its introduction to New York of a Texas favorite, Frito pie (a bag of corn chips split open and drenched with chili), as well as various tasty drinks served in mason jars.
After dinner, we’ll go to one of several bars that are favorites of the New Yorkers (or perhaps somewhere new), to be determined based on the interests and composition of the crowd.
So, who’s interested in throwing kabbes off his numbers for a night?
I can make it but I may have to bring my freaky, non-Doper husband who has (and will continue to) resisted all efforts to assimilate him. Don’t hate him, just pity him.
Just out of curiousity, why are we taking an out-of-towner to a place that serves Frito Pie and liquor in Mason jars? I never show up in San Antonio with a hankering for properly-chilled martinis and foxtrotting till dawn in white tie and tails.
Ike, although it’s not in his location line it appears Kabbes is from the UK, so I think we have wide latitude to offer Americana - I don’t think we’re giving coals to the man from Newcastle.
