I’m in, in theory. And probably in practice as well.
I’m in for the 25th. I fully expect a gold star for posting that I will attend instead of just showing up. Late, usually.
At least something about this will be authentic New York then.

But . . . I’m gonna be out of town for a week, and I’d appreciate it if someone could check a couple of things out for me.
First, how is Cowgirl on that whole accessability thing (I’m not sure that it’s too good)?
Second, we should get a somewhat accurate count and make a reservation.

Well foo. I thought it was THIS Friday but now that I see it’s NEXT Friday, I’m afraid I’ll have to back out, I’m leaving for lovely Toledo, OH the previous day. Don’t envy me too much.
I’d come, but I won’t have a way into the city.

OK. NEW PLACE!.
After extensive and difficult research (I love this job!), we’re having this dealie at Walker’s, 19 N. Moore St. at Varick. Bigger, closer to afterdrinks (we’re thinking The Patriot, which is like the Village Idiot but without the scum (human and otherwise) after another, uh, research expedition), better, more accessible, &ct. Take the 1 train downtown to Franklin St. and go north one block (unless you come out the back of the train, in which case you’re right there).
Ignore the “three dollar signs” thing at Walker’s – you can get out of there way cheaper than that.
Done.
Now - I have internet access for only about another 32 hours, so need to sure up on the details. Is anybody interested in pre-dinner drinks; if so, is this the place for pre-dinner drinks and if not, where would be? Any which way: what time?

Oo-er, internet access only for another 7 hours or so. Therefore, I’m making a decision.
I will be outside Walker’s (as mentioned by mannie at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm. From 6pm I will be in the closest bar!
However, hopefully the evening will evolve so that I’m not still standing by myself outside at 8pm…

I will plan to meet up with you at Walker’s at 6 PM. Despite Maeglin’s post to the contrary, I don’t think my tardiness is a sign of an authentic New York experience just quite yet, so I think I can manage to be on time.
They have a lovely bar at Walker’s, so I would propose having cocktails there so as to meet folks as they arrive for dinner.
Sounds wonderful.
It would appear, then, that the closest bar to Walkers is Walkers itself. Marvellous.
Eagerly anticipating Friday night. I intend to get my jet-lagged self to bed and sleep most of Friday itself, so be prepared…

You know, I didn’t quite understand what kabbes was so desperately asking for-- someplace for pre-dinner drinks? What’s wrong with drinking at the restaurant?
It took delphica to illuminate (as always-- delph just bubbles with wisdom and understanding)-- he thought that NY Dopers would be having dinner someplace where you couldn’t get a drink. Inconceivable!
I will be coming from work-- out here in the boonies. I’ll probably get there about 7 or 7:30.
