Kaboom! A Dynamite MMP

Good morning and happy Friday everyone!

We went out to dinner last night at the Super Buffet. It’s a Chinese food place. I didn’t think it would be any good, but it turned out to be quite delicious actually. The food was fresh and they had stuff you don’t always find at a Chinese food buffet. Anyway, we got some funny fortunes, but I left them in my other pants pockets, so I’ll have to post them tonight.

Other than that, I’ve got bupkus. I need to go and get some cash and coffee. I stopped at my regular place to pick up my quad short Americano, but the line was ridiculously long at both windows, and the girls were slow.

Off to get some go juice.

Happy Friday!!

Man, I am going to do some big-time slacking today, I can just feel it in my bones…

I’ve got the same bones. Thus far today, I’ve imported and checked and done everything I’m supposed to with all my orders, and will continue to do so throughout the day. The good news? That will take up approximately an hour, total. I’ve spent the last 45 minutes organizing my Dope subscriptions.

T.G.I.F.

speaking of old creaky bones that can forecast weather, how’s your tailbone?

oh, and slacker factor - there will be two cakes today (my b-day and cow-orker’s farewell) so I’ll hit my sugar high, crash, and waste time til 5:30 - I should be posting frequently this afternoon

I think that might be what happened. A whole bunch of Important Data didn’t get updated for about 3 weeks and no one caught it. So decisions were made on out-of-date data. Yeah, not good. Fortunately I left about 7, but my boss was here until midnight. Not cool. Supposedly the problem is fixed now though so that’s good news. And I wasn’t the one who broke it so that’s even better news!

Tomorrow we’re going to Cooperstown, NY. We’re going to hit the Farmer’s Museum, which is a 19th century village, complete with all kinds of little stores and crafts and cow-milking…very rustic NY. On the way back we’re going to hit the famous Brooks BBQ.
Now this place is so freakin’ famous that even though it is an hour away we have monthly Brooks BBQ dinnerss at our local church, and the place is MOBBED. Everybody loves Brooks BBQ. We asked them for a donation last year and they gave us HALF A CHICKEN - they need no publicity. But that’s not the amazing thing. The amazing thing is that people BID ON IT. So we’ll let you know how good it is.
And I’ll post pictures next week!

I’m tired. At least it’s Friday. Also I managed to solve the problem of not getting up on time: my alarm clock’s volume had been turned down, most likely in the shuffle of moving up here. I turned it up quite a bit last night, and was able to wake up fairly easily despite not falling asleep for a while.

I really have nothing to report. My life has become very boring to anyone at whom I can’t babble on about the actual content of my courses. Oh well. Today is more class, followed by the first physics dept. colloquium, (for which I have volunteered to do the food setup for the next 6 weeks). After that, a food run and then probably more homework.

Oh, and maybe a pun or two:

Off to eat food and do stuff.

Morning. More or less. Time for tea.
I’m hungry. I just remembered that I have to get my Health Card (so as to get medical service) replace before I go in for physio next week. Maybe Tuesday.

Today I get to do exciting laundry, which means I should go to the bank and get change. Woo-hoo! Maybe I’ll stop at the library, too, and check out a nice time-waster.

Mika, I want barbecue so badly now. If I didn’t already have plans to crash our neighboring school’s cafeteria for lunch, I’d get some. (They have an Icee machine!)

Also, there’s a man at a neighboring computer in this lab. He walked in, set his stuff down, and made motions indicating that he was about to take his fleecy pullover off. I, of course, stared as it took his tshirt up past his nipples. Does that make me a bad person?

(For the record, it ruined his appearance. He is deathly skinny, but you’d never know it due to the way his clothes fit.)

Chaoticbear, I can fax you some tomorrow if you like. Oh, I won’t be at work. Ok, I can mail it.

And I would have looked [at the guy] too, so don’t sweat it! Or maybe just sweat.

Ummmm, did I miss something here? It’s your birthday?!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

tomorrow actually, but thanks
And it turns out, for cow-orker, there’s pizza and salad (Yum!) mainly because he doesn’t like sweets.

Oh man I’m so jealous! I haven’t been to the Farmer’s Museum in ages, but it’s a really fun place to visit. I always liked the printing press. And the tavern.

And I really really really miss Brooks! :frowning: My parents don’t even live near there any more so I can’t get it when I go visit them. :frowning: :frowning: Eat some chicken and fries and cole slaw for me!!

It’s more discomfort than outright pain, at this point (although that might be the drugs talking). I haven’t worked a full day all week, and despite a doctor’s note that says I can’t sit for extended periods of time, I can tell it’s wearing thin around here. The problem is that I still can’t sit without the donut cushion, which means all my weight is resting on that little bit of cushion. As you might recall, all my weight is quite a lot, so that just hurts after a while. Plus, with the cushion, I can’t lean back in my chair, which is doing bad things to my back. Once I get home, it’s a symphony of annoyance, between trying to find the exact right way to lay on my stomach so my back isn’t arched too much, finding places to put my arms that doesn’t tax all the muscles north of the elbows, and the fact that Chunk has decided in the last week or so that there is no place on Earth he’d rather be than my pillow. And trying to move a twenty-pound cat when you don’t want to move the rest of your body is a little difficult. Not to mention the fact that if I move my head around too much, that seems to be a signal to him that I want him to chase my hair, leading to much clawing and biting of my scalp.

Other than that, I’m just peachy. And happy birthday.

How is it possible that two people can talk about Cooperstown, NY and neither mention the Baseball Hall of Fame?

I am grrrrr’d at Mr. SCL. for some reason when he decided he wanted a burrito last night, he ripped open the bottom of the bag of tortillas instead of using the handy little zip lock feature on the top. By the time I found it this afternoon, the edges of all the remaining tortillas were dried out and ruined. No quesillidas for me!

SIL comes home tomorrow evening. I am glad - her dogs miss her something terrible. And my cats are tired of me coming in smelling of beagle and basset. So far, everything seems to be going well. The fur is growing back where the basset was shaved for the hot spot. That dog is so easy to medicate it is amazing. If any of you have to try to medicate a dog, try coating it in mayo first.

Does it take a lot of mayo to coat an entire dog?

got any spare keyboards?

I’m trying to simultaneously post on my Ask the Doper Who Lived in the Boonies thread and finish up my research on prisons. The boonies are winning, so come on over!
