Kaboom! A Dynamite MMP

Apparently I have an excellent reading voice, especially for poetry. I had never heard this before (and its one of those things that is impossible to determine yourself), but last night it was suggested and confirmed by a dozen or so people in my writing club that my voice was superb for this task. I remain dubious though, I think I will record myself tonight and see whether or not these people were talking rot.

Boy, that lunch was uncomfortable. :stuck_out_tongue:

mbg, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I suppose it depends on the dog. You could probably just dunk a chihuahua.

rosie, HAPPY BIRFDAY TOMORRY!!

Hee hee! Excellent. My coworker has a yellow lab, i wonder how long that would take. Probably years, as she’d be licking it off as fast it was applied.

I don’t know about the dog, but in medicating this one I wind up getting quite a bit on me. With a basset it takes a minute or two to find the mouth amongst all the jowl.

So glad the work week is over. Whew!

Happy Day Before Your Birthday, Rose!!!

Big things brewing at work regarding my project. Instead of withering and dying like the senior engineer wanted, it looks like it’s going to be expanded. I’m about to get involved in something Potentially Significant. Go me!

Anyway, the work week is done and I’ve got a metric buttload of laundry to do. Should I make dinner or go out to eat? Decisions, decisions…

Plus I have class tomorrow - can’t wait! More big stuff to make. woo and hoo!

Afternoon all! A brief drop in to do laundry, then to a hockey game. My now ex-stocker didn’t show up for the truck, so I earned it. My spine is twitching again. i am having fish, corn, and N.O.T wedges.

donkeybear, I might try that one, they have it at Total Wine

Cello guy, they tell me I have a voice for radio, too.

FCM, congrats! I am glad your project is going well. I only have a centabuttload of laundry.

That’s better than having a face for radio.

Have a good weekend, y’all. Since I’ll be writing up some stuff, I may drop in on the weekend. Gotta see how swampy’s Flahdah trip went.

Heh, interesting…my department head just called me in because he’d been approached by my old boss (another department) about doing his billing (swampy’s gonna love that one). Current boss told old boss he would expect me to receive compensation (about $3K). Current boss told me to think about it over the weekend. I could probably fit it in as I already do some work for him on a sporadic basis and I would certainly like the money but I also want the option to say “this ain’t working out” if it gets to be too much. Opinions???

Hey, meeks, just saw this dancing boy on the AOL site. Have you seen it?

or a radio for a face!

Ah puggy, and I thought if I used the offficial term “arctic entry” everyone would know what I was talking about! It’s known up here as a “kelly door” or a “corri door”, which I have always assumed is a bastardization of “corridor”. What it is, is an enclosed porch with one door opening to the outdoors and one to the indoors, intended to help keep the cold, wind and snow from coming in every time someone enters or leaves. I have my chest freezer out there, along with most of the cold weather gear (parkas, rain gear, boots etc.) as well as the snow shovels, the bucket of salt salmon, and the de-icing salt.

Thanks for the clarification donkybear, (and what a picture that name conjures up in my mind!) sometimes I have a whooshing sensation above my head!

Speaking of bears, a sad story in last nights paper about a two year old female bear who was blind and not behaving in a bear-like manner. She was shot out of mercy, as she would have never made it through the winter. Poor little bear.

I am so glad that I decided to get that carpet torn out, the chunk that came out of the living room last night was dis-gus-ting. However I am now all sinused up again, and I have a really bad headache. Skiffman needs to run up and get me some more sudafed, while I take a nice hot shower. I have a feeling I am not going to be very productive today.

Well, I guess I was just a little bit productive, I just got off the phone with the State troopers. We have a convicted/registered sex offender/pedophile living two doors down again. It’s an extended-family-from-the-village situation, and we had an incident last winter in which he came over, drunk, at 1:30 am, my daughter, who knows better, answered the door and he was trying to kiss on her and force his way into the house. I called the Troopers and he was arrested for not being registered at the correct address, and as he was on probation he was in violation for being drunk, and so he was arrested. When he was released he was told to stay clear of my property, and he then went fishing, so for months he has been gone. Well, he’s back, and last night he took the short cut past my house to get to the road, and was giving me evil looks. I just want him to stay the hell away from my home and kids, so the Troopers are going to check on the situation. He is a disgusting piece of work, and just thinking about him makes my skin crawl. Fortunately for me the Troopers don’t like him either, and I have once again been encouraged to let them know about anything they can pick him up for. I wish he would just go back to the village.

I am off to my hot shower, and I’ll check back in later, hopefully sans head pain.

Thanks for all the pretty birthday greetings, folks. I also received a new watch, some chocolate, and three birthday phone calls. I had a job interview today. Next week should bring news of what transpired, but I think it went well. At any rate, as I was telling the interviewers (there were two, the controller, who would be my boss, and the woman I’d be replacing) what I knew how to do (that was relevant to the job), they both kept nodding a lot. Either they liked me, or they both had tics.

BWAHAHAHAHA! I think my coworkers are wondering why I’m laughing.

I’ve been recipe hunting. I think it’s going to be a good week food-wise. There’re a couple Rachael Ray recipes on the agenda, some stew (recipe from a friend with plenty of modifications just for fun), maybe a turkey breast, meatloaf, roasted fennel, maybe curry chicken (one of our standbys), and hopefully some gingerbread. Now I just have to go buy all the stuff I need for that! And some candy for the coworkers because our row is the Place for Candy and I wouldn’t want to disappoint anyone and not have candy.

I’m a little annoyed with the fund raising at work. Yesterday was the kick off for raising money for a large charitable organization (name withheld to protect… someone or other). Anyway, this is one of those organizations that’s known for high overhead costs, with less money being passed on to those who need it. So that’s annoying, plus I don’t like being pressured to give. I do my part outside of work, but I don’t feel that I should have to justify myself to my coworkers. It’s none of their business which charities I support or when/where I volunteer. So I end up feeling bad when I say no to donating here, but I feel kinda angry that they’re putting me in this position in the first place and for a charity that’s not that great anyway. Grrrr.

Finished with the prisons for now! Police department is still acting bizarrely. This is what, 8 or 9 days now?

I really, really hate my job right now. No particular reason, I’m just tired of working here. Actually, I think it’s all the stuff that’s surfacing on my other thread and I’m starting to see the parallels between this job and my family. Well, that’s why I’m seeing my therapist on Monday. I have to get a courier for Mr. Particular and then I’m off to the dietician. Wee! What exceptional fun for a Friday!

Oh, oh, I almost forgot, my neighborhood is having their annual cleanup day in two weeks and one of the rubbish bins is going to be *right outside * my house! Yay! I have 3 broken chairs that need to go, among other things. Between that and the white elephant exchange, my living room is going to be spic and span in no time! I mean, whatever doesn’t fit in the rubbish bin can go to my white elephant exchange partner, right?

Since I won’t get back here tomorrow,

Happy Birthday rosie!!

OK…first I’m gonna post, then I’m gonna read. Cuz yesterday, I read through everything that was there when I got home, started to post and then it timed out approximately one jillion times. Even tried early this morning and had the same problem.

Hi everyone! Still alive. Happy it’s Friday. Didn’t strangle anyone at work today. Or even feel like strangling anyone, which made it the best day so far this week. In fact, a couple of NICE THINGS happened. (As in, people were cooperative and I didn’t have to ask more than one person for the really big favor I had to beg for. First person said “No problem, just tell me what you need.” I would like to clone her.

Weekend is going to include work, sadly, but I’ll probably be able to do most of it from home.

Back after I’ve read everything…

Well, tomorrow’s not the last day of dogsitting after all. SIL’s Jaguar decided to have issues (at least she is in Atlanta, where she bought it) and even though she had it towed in they won’t be able to look at it until Monday. So she’s trying to decide whether to rent a car, or just stay and find out Monday. That cancels the Ansel Adams reception we were supposed to go to tomorrow night. I’ll go see the exhibit some other time.

I spent the last couple of hours working on beads. I need to get some more of the finished stuff photographed and on the website. I also need to do laundry. I’m not doing any of it until tomorrow.

OK…so I seem to be able to post today. And read. Also, I went to get gas (cuz I have to get up early tomorrow and the car was running low and the prices were low again) and also I ate dinner, kinda. At least the first course.

Sounds like a nice offer, Puggy. It’s always a good idea to have a back-out plan. You’ve worked there a long time, right? And since both your boss and your old boss are known quantities, I imagine you could finesse your way into that without anyone taking offense.

Interesting thread, Jahdra. Glad you’ve been able to get away. Oh, and I need to clean too; maybe they can put one of the trash bins outside my door?

There are dogs all over my neighborhood. Two in the one house next door, one in the other house next door, and two more in the next house. It would take a while to cover them with mayo, because they’re all pretty big.

What, Tel, no birthday vodka?

Too bad about SIL, SCL.

I was wondering about the arctic entry, too, kai; thanks for the description. Sounds like the renovation is going to work out really nicely.

So…how’d it get this late? Watched Hitch again while surfing a bit and finishing off this post.

Almost forgot: paid 1.66/gallon for gas. Had .40 off from the grocery store and $.03 from having scanned my card last time. Never thought that would sound cheap. Felt like they were giving it away…

Happy Birthday in advance, rosie, since I’m not sure what time I’ll be stopping in tomorrow.

It’s getting kinda late (for me)…guess I should toddle off to bed, huh?

GT

Finally caught up with the whole MMP, so a belated: Great news pic! Happy Birthday Tel! And a timely: Happy Birthday rosie!

I’ve confirmed it with several other people and it seems to be the general consensus that I have a great radio/reading voice. Personally I don’t hear it shrug.

I thought I was lucky when I paid $2.17 today. And I really need to get Hitch on DVD, off the top of my head I would say that it is my favorite romantic comedy of the last couple of years.

If coating dogs with mayo becomes a MMP in-joke, it’s not my fault. Blame TheMaleResponsibleForStudentTransportation.
Jahdra - I’m really glad you were able to overcome your upbringing. It isn’t easy to leave all that you know, especially when that is all that you’ve been allowed to know. My family on my mom’s side were dirt farmers in Florida, but they encouraged the kids to be different - I was the first person on my mom’s side to ever graduate from college. However, one of her brothers wasn’t far behind me - he went to school after his time in the Air Force and ended up Chief of the Fire Department in Leesburg, Florida. His two older brothers worked under him.

It’s not quite midnight here, and I’ve been holding off, but…

Happy Birthday, Rosie!!!

SCL, Who? Me?
