Nah. This is straight up fuckin’ music. Listen as many time as it takes to wash that silly Kanye out of your head.![]()
Be that as it may, he’s still a tool. And I think the numbers of the people who agree with that statement would probably be higher than the numbers of albums he’ll sell.
I appreciate it for what it is, I do…but if a guy I was about to bang put that on, I’d probably burst into hysterical laughter.
Diosa
(who wasn’t even born until 12 years after that song came out)
Music and Hollywood are filled with idiotic, narcissistic assholes. It really says something when one stands out as such amongst one’s peers.
I knew before I clicked that it was going to link to some grotty 70’s band. Cause there hasn’t been any good music made since 1979.
ETA: I should say that you’re catching the fallout from me being sick to death of all the Boomers who can’t stop saying things like that.
Oh please. You don’t think I know there’s been some awesome music produced since 79?
I hadn’t seen that before, but that is AWESOME. It’s stuff like this that makes me love Kanye SO MUCH. I’m imagining him shouting this out of his window like Howard Beale in Network. And indeed when Hollwood get around to remaking Network like they seem to be doing with every film ever made, Kanye should totally play Howard.
He should start being in films just so we can see him at the Academy Awards.
“Yo Susan Sarandon I’mma let you finish but Meryl Streep etc. etc.”
Nope, I don’t work for his PR team. I actually am Kanye West.
Well, he did say he wanted to be, and I quote, “a doper person” ![]()
I like Kanye’s public personality. I haven’t heard very much of his music, but I think his blog is hilarious and I love his Twitter too.
I HAVE A FUCKING LIGHT SHOW DUMB ASS, IT’S NOT CALLED GLOW IN THE DARK FOR NO REASON SQUID BRAINS!
I HAVE TO ICE MY KNEES AFTER EVERY SHOW AND THEY HURT WHEN I WALK THROUGH THE AIRPORT… HAVING AN EXPENSIVE STAGE CUTS MY PAYDAY IN HALF… CALL ME WHAT YOU WANT BUT NEVER SAY I DIDN’T GIVE MY ALL!!!
I love this guy. I don’t believe for a second that his seemingly-dickish behavior is because he’s malicious – he’s just overwhelmingly invested in music and is really earnest about it.

Is that why he insulted someone, then asked why she didn’t stick up for him, and then insulted her again by claiming that she “rode” that incident to greater fame? Oh, and then blamed everyone except himself for that incident? If he aint malicious then I guess he’s he’s just clueless.

Not to sound confrontational on such a subject as musical tastes but seems to me that most people are into what`s being served to them and being aweed way to easily by visuals rather than actuals of the music itself. I wish there was an easier way to say this but… Kanye has no music in musical sense and no lyrics in lyrical sense, whatsoever. There’s something else there, for sure. Performance, show, drama, tidbits, something is there… but not THE stuff. I know you would love to come back with a biting response to this but take a deep breath, count to 10 and read on. So, I bring to your attention name Keziah Jones (YouTube it all you want) and this for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=513Zz-_U0nE
*** “Rhythm is Love” is almost 20 years old…

Couldn’t disagree with this more. Dropping a name like Keziah Jones is very street creddy, but it doesn’t negate Kenye’s talent.

There’s no biting response from me at all. I’m simply making the point that at 24 years old, I expect someone to throw on the new Yeezy cd or something like that if we’re about to fuck. If I was about to bang some guy and he put on some 70s sex rock, I’d probably burst into laughter. Don’t get me wrong, I listen to my fair share of music from back in the day and LOVE IT, but it’s all about context.
Just like the time I was about to fuck a guy and he literally put on “Let’s Get It On.” I was laughing so hard that I had to leave. It was so ridiculous. Why actually fucks to that song? It’s not 1973!
And to say Kanye makes no lyrical sense. . . you clearly don’t listen to his albums. Kanye has some of the most complex rhymes of any mainstream musician out there today.
Since we’re sharing links, can someone provide one to a clip that evinces this legendary enormous talent of Kanye’s? It must really be phenomenal, considering the number of apologists for his idiotic public behavior—but all I know of his music is from his performances on SNL, which were visually flashy but didn’t really scream “musical genius” at me.
Do you generally like hip hop, Vinyl?
ETA: I don’t like ‘Let’s Get it On’, Diosa, but I will knock some boots to “Sexual Healing”. But then again, I am 36.
Do you generally like hip hop, Vinyl?
Honestly? Not generally, although there have been exceptions. I do try to appreciate talent in genres that aren’t really my “thing,” such as country music.
I’m a big fan of clever wordplay, though, and who doesn’t like a catchy tune?
“Most people stick to music that they listened to from ages 13-30, think just about everything ‘this generation’ listens to is awful and the musicians have no talent. Story at 11”.
Plus, I’m pretty sure you guys just don’t care about black people.
Aw damn!

Word.
So this clip of Kanye being a total ass to Matt Lauer for no reason cracked me up. He didn’t even have a reason to pretend to be upset. Comedy.

If you don’t like rap, I’m not sure this will help much. . . but I’ll at least try. I will say though, if you’re honestly wanting to give him a legit shot, I suggest getting a copy of his new CD and just listening to it from start to finish-- the whole album plays together so nicely. If you’re short on time, though, here are my favorite tracks from it. I will say that the biggest issue is that for these folks to have the songs on Youtube, they have to either speed them up or slow them down so Youtube doesn’t take it down. So, these songs aren’t album quality at all-- they’re all a little fast.
