Kanye West is a complete fucking idiot

I want a cage match between Kanye and Ted Nugent.

It’s kind of fun to see 5 years on how Kanye is still getting loads of respect from the music critics. Love him or hate him, he ain’t no flash-in-the pan. His 2013 album Yeezus was voted #1 album of 2013 by Spin, Sterogum, Time, The A.V. Club, The Guardian, and #2 by NME, New York, Pitchfork, and The Washington Post. (And Pitchfork has it as the #8 album of the decade so far from 2010-214.) I suppose you can argue that all the critics are suffering from some sort of groupthink, but we have people whose lives are writing about music from both sides of the pond praising his work, as much of a jackass as he is and as hatable a character he can be. If you don’t like or “get” his work, that’s fine. But he’s not a hack, no matter how detestable a person you may find him.

I still think the best moment of Obama’s presidency is when he called Kanye a jackass. That statement should have the force of law.

That definitely is up there in classic off-the-cuff Obama moments.

Best moment was the **fictional version of his response to bin Laden being slain.

And Kanye guzzles Hennesy. We’ll call it a wash.

YES. Kanye West is a complete fucking idiot. He was a complete fucking idiot in 2010, and he’s a complete fucking idiot in 2015. At least he’s consistent.

To be fair, he was mad that Beyonce didn’t win, not himself.

I’m pretty sure she could kick Beck’s ass herself if she really wanted to. Guy’s like a ventriloquist’s dummy, but not as intimidating.

I don’t think the problem is his stage bombing*, it’s that he sucks at it. If he were actually SMART, he’d start poking fun at himself for doing it, but he won’t.

(The next time he wins an award, I think Beyonce should do it to him. Now THAT would be funny)

*Now THAT’S how you stage-bomb someone. RIP, MCA.

I think this is what gets me the most about the whole thing: it’s not like Beyonce is powerless or stupid or incapable of standing up for herself. If she wanted to make some statement about missing out on these awards, she could do it quite easily, and she doesn’t need a dickweed like Kanye to ride in on his horse and defend her honor.

He might think he’s trying to stand up for her, but his assumption that she needs his help is actually more condescending and demeaning than missing out on the award.

IMHO it’s got nothing to do with Beyonce and everything to do with the voters not reading West’s mind and respecting his opinions. IOW, it’s all about Kanye West, and the fact that his opinions are TRUTH.

celebrities are complete idiots. the people who worship them, doubly so.

He did it on SNL, and I thought it was funny.

Haven’t seen it – I’ll check it out.

His attempt at stage bombing Beck at the Grammy’s was Kanye making fun of himself for what he did to Taylor Swift at the VMA’s several years ago (i.e. the genesis of this thread).

Like or don’t like West, but this repeat was actually pretty funny and self deprecating.

On the other hand, pretty cool that Glenn Beck won best album of the year.

Yeah, you’re wrong. Capital-W Wrong.

If he had made a self deprecating joke about it, and laughed about it later, you’d be right. But he didn’t, so you’re not.

Here’s what he said in a backstage interview after the awards:

Emphasis mine. Does that sound like self-deprecating irony to you? If it does, get your meters recalibrated.

See if you can find the video of the interview. Even Kanye’s self-obsessed, ego-driven wife Kim Kardashian managed to break her stonefaced stare for long enough to look embarrassed.

Give him a break he’s married to a Hobbit. I saw one awards show where he went on stage and interrupted Pope Francis.

Hey! Great SNL skit idea!

Kanye stage bombs Obama!
