…is streaming over at NPR if you’d like to listen
I’d forgotten about this and thrilled to be able to hear the whole thing already. It won’t be released for another week yet.
I suspect this will be in my player in heavy rotation for a while. The sounds fit my headspace right now. There is a lot of sounds similar to A Sky of Honey and some familiar song structure from A Sensual World.
My favourite album/sides are The Ninth Wave (Hounds of Love) and A Sky of Honey (Aerial). I’m enjoying the piano and muted drumming of this new album.
I just finished the full 65 minutes. I can only hope that the stream is still available tonight to listen on my home stereo.
Actually, upon reflection, I can’t wait to listen to it sitting outside in a snowfall as the sun sets…one of those unrelenting storms that halt the progress of traffic, that mutes all sounds except the wind through the trees and the sounds of the snowflakes hitting the snow and the sounds of the drifts curling over the top to form waves of white blankets.
A flurry of quiet. A gentle tumult.
Beautiful - thanks for the link. It’s not often I put on music while I work, but a new Kate album, a week before release, definitely gets a listen.
I’m waiting impatiently for my husband to get home from a business trip so we can hear it for the first time together, something we’ve done with every new Kate album after The Dreaming*. I’m heartened by all the positive reviews and general goodwill shown to Kate. It’s a kick on Twitter seeing Big Boi from Outkast so often re-tweet Kate news. He’s very besotted.
- That’s still my favorite album, not just by Kate, but by anyone, ever. My husband and I were both huge Kate fans when we met, him since 1978 thanks to Saturday Night Live, and me since 1980. We met because we were Kate fans, 3 months after The Dreaming was released and it still seemed brand new.
I didn’t know she was putting out a new album, now I’m excited! I’ll have to wait for the release, though, no streaming on dial-up.
Just had a brain-flash involving NBC reporter Kate Snow reciting 50 words for bush.
I’m listening to it now, and I have shivers.
Earlier this evening I got to hear the new remix of Quadrophenia. What a fantastic night with two of my favorite artists.
